Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of loneliness in the song lyrics of "Kota Ini Tak Sama Tanpamu" by Nadhif Basalamah using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, with analysis conducted across three layers of meaning: denotation, connotation, and myth. The object of analysis was focused on three lyric excerpts selected purposively based on thematic relevance, symbolic density, and cultural representation. The findings indicate that loneliness is represented in multiple layers: at the denotative level, it is depicted through the changing atmosphere of the city, a longing for emotional fulfillment, and a redefinition of home as togetherness; at the connotative level, the three lyrics collectively construct loneliness as a profound emotional loss; while at the mythological level, the song naturalizes the ideology that happiness and meaning in life depend on the presence of another person. This study concludes that song lyrics do not merely function as entertainment, but also as symbolic communication that reflects and reinforces social constructions of loneliness in modern life.

Abstract

The research problem of Analysis of Framing of News Reporting of Little Aresha Case on CNN Indonesia, Kompas.com, and Detiknews lies in the possibility of differences in the way the three media frame facts, choose sources, and highlight certain aspects of the same case so that they can form different public perceptions of the event. Therefore, this research is important to identify the construction of reality built by each media and understand how the framing process influences the delivery of information to the public. This study aims to analyze how online media framed the news coverage of alleged child abuse cases at Little Aresha Daycare Yogyakarta on CNN Indonesia, Kompas.com, and Detiknews. This research used a qualitative method with the framing analysis approach of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki through syntactic, script, thematic, and rhetorical structures. The results showed that CNN Indonesia framed the case from a victim protection perspective, Kompas.com emphasized institutional responsibility and law enforcement, while Detiknews focused more on the chronology of events and the facts of the violence that occurred. These framing differences indicate that the media play an important role in shaping public opinion through language selection, fact emphasis, and specific perspectives in news reporting

Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought very significant changes to marketing communications. The presence of social media provides opportunities for business actors so they can market their products more effectively and efficiently. One of the social media that is currently widely used as a means of marketing communication is the TikTok platform. This platform provides many features that enable users to create and distribute content creatively so that it can reach a wider audience. This research aims to find out about the marketing communication strategies used by the @mnofficialstore account to increase customer availability. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques were carried out by means of observation, in-depth interviews and documentation of the activities of the TikTok account @mnofficialstore. Research informants consisted of account owners, buyers and people who knew the account. The results of this research show that the marketing communication strategy used by the @mnofficcialstore account is used by utilizing the TikTok platform and TikTok features such as live streaming, comment columns, hashtags and following what is currently viral. This marketing communications strategy is implemented to build relationships between audiences and account owners, increase interaction, and expand the reach of content published on the home page (FYP). Customer availability can be seen from the frequency of content viewing, as well as the intensity of interactions through comments, likes and shares. This research found inconsistencies in content upload schedules and live streaming which could be an obstacle in optimizing marketing communication strategies. Therefore, consistency in uploading video content using the TikTok platform and the features that must be used to its maximum potential is an important factor in increasing customer availability.

Abstract

Religious digitalization has shifted the dawah stage from traditional pulpits to visual-interactive platforms mediated by algorithms. This study aims to analyze how the mechanisms of Filter Bubbles and Echo Chambers on Instagram social media shape Indonesian netizens' public opinion, specifically in responding to moral scandals involving religious authorities in Pati Regency. Using a qualitative research method with a netnographic approach, the researcher conducted passive observation (lurking) of organic interactions in Instagram comment columns. The results show that the Instagram algorithm creates information isolation that reinforces confirmation bias among loyalists, but simultaneously triggers destructive polarization when the scandal penetrates public information bubbles. These findings identify four dominant narrative typologies: institutional delegitimization, dogmatic sarcasm, negative generalization, and demands for mass justice. This study concludes that digital dawah under algorithmic control creates new vulnerabilities for religious authorities, where radical social media transparency can instantly collapse institutional reputation through the phenomenon of Cyber-Balkanization.

Abstract

This article analyzes the 2024 Hajj quota controversy involving Khalid Basalamah through the lens of Michel Foucault's theory of truth regimes. Using a Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach, this study demonstrates how the state, bureaucracy, and digital media collectively produce "social truths" that do not always align with legal facts. Key findings demonstrate three discursive mechanisms at work: procedural normalization by the state bureaucracy, the production of social stigma through digital media framing, and the struggle for moral legitimacy in the public sphere. This case demonstrates that the Hajj pilgrimage has become a political-administrative arena where power operates subtly but effectively to shape public perception.

Abstract

The development of globalization and digital communication technology has transformed patterns of consumption in society, particularly among Generation Z, who live within an instant, fast-paced culture. This phenomenon reflects George Ritzer's concept of McDonaldization, the rationalization of modern life through the principles of efficiency, calculability, predictability, and control. This research is grounded in the aim of understanding McDonaldization not merely as an economic phenomenon, but also as a form of global cultural communication that shapes the social identity of Indonesia's younger generation, focusing on South Tangerang as an urban city with high global cultural penetration. The research objectives include identifying forms of McDonaldization activity within Generation Z's consumption patterns, analyzing the role of social media in reinforcing the spread of global values, and understanding the social and cultural factors driving young people's adoption of consumptive lifestyles. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies, involving 43 Generation Z informants and two supporting informants from communication practitioners and franchise business operators, selected purposively. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. This research is expected to produce a conceptual model of global cultural communication based on consumption practices, along with recommendations for consumption literacy among young people amid Indonesia's increasingly digitalized urban society.
