Abstract

Self-efficacy training is needed to improve the career maturity of vocational high school students to be better prepared to face the demands of the working world. This study aims to test the self-efficacy training module in improving the career maturity of vocational high school students. This study used a quantitative experimental method involving 15 students as research subjects. Sampling used a purposive sampling technique with cluster sampling criteria. This study used a career maturity scale of 34 statement items as the main instrument. The data obtained were analysed using an independent t-test on the IBM SPSS version 21 application. The results of the analysis showed a significant difference in career maturity in the experimental group and the control group after the experimental group was given self-efficacy training (t = -2.742 and sig. = 0.011), meaning that providing self-efficacy training can improve the career maturity of vocational high school students. Suggestions for guidance counsellors and schools can integrate self-efficacy training programs on an ongoing basis to help students develop career maturity. This study provides an overview that increasing self-efficacy through training can be an effective strategy in preparing vocational school students to face the demands of the world of work, so it is worthy of being applied more widely in other vocational schools.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how social support and school climate predict life satisfaction of vocational high school students. The research participants were vocational high school students in Pringsewu, with the number of subjects used in the study being 200 students. The instruments in this study consisted of a scale of life satisfaction, social support, and school climate. The analytical method used was multiple regression analysis with the help of the SPSS version 23 program. The results of the data analysis between social support and school climate with life satisfaction showed a significance value of the R coefficient of 0.000, meaning that simultaneously social support and school climate were able to predict high and low levels of life satisfaction. Meanwhile, separately, between social support and life satisfaction showed a significance value of the zero-order coefficient of 0.001 and between school climate and life satisfaction showed a significance value of the zero-order coefficient of 0.015; meaning that between social support and life satisfaction, there was a significant relationship, as well as between school climate and life satisfaction. The conclusion in this study is that, both simultaneously and separately, social support and school climate were able to predict student life satisfaction.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the miracle question technique in reducing academic procrastination among seventh-grade students at SMP IT Grafika Pesanggaran. The researcher used a quantitative experimental approach with a Single Subject Research model A-B design. The researcher selected subjects through purposive sampling, selecting students with the highest procrastination scores as determined by the questionnaire. In phase A (baseline), the researcher measured the initial conditions of procrastination behaviour. Furthermore, in phase B (intervention), the researcher provided individual counselling services using the miracle question technique. This technique is designed to help students imagine ideal future conditions, explore optimistic hopes, self-potential, and desired solutions to their problems, thereby encouraging more positive behavioural changes. The research instrument used was the Academic Procrastination Scale, which was adapted from the original model by Ferrari, Johnson, and McCown (1995). The researcher used descriptive analysis to compare academic procrastination score data from phase A (baseline) to phase B (intervention) using Microsoft Excel. The descriptive analysis showed a gradual decrease in procrastination scores from 106 (very high) to 55 (low). Thus, the miracle question technique has proven effective as a counselling strategy for helping students overcome academic procrastination.

Abstract

This study aims to identify early psychological conditions among children at the Ternate Class II Special Child Development Institution (LPKA) and to describe the emotional, social, and behavioural responses that emerge during development. The study used a qualitative descriptive approach with purposive sampling, involving 12 children aged 13–18 years who met specific criteria and were willing to participate. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews and non-participant observation, using semi-structured interview guidelines, observation sheets, and field notes. Data were analysed using thematic analysis, including transcription, data reduction, coding, and theme extraction. The research findings indicate that most children experience emotional vulnerabilities such as fear, guilt, and anxiety; a need for social acceptance and emotional support; and adaptive skills and potential resilience that develop through positive interactions in institutional settings. Key contributing factors include previous experiences of violence, lack of family support, and social stigma. These findings underscore the importance of ongoing psychological support, a humanistic counselling approach, and consistent social support to improve children's psychological well-being during and after counselling.

Abstract

This study aims to determine differences in student engagement by gender and academic year. A quantitative approach with a comparative research design was chosen to answer the research objectives. A total of 379 active students participated in this study, selected using accidental sampling. Data were obtained using a student engagement scale and analysed using ANOVA. The results of the study found that: 1) There was no difference in student engagement based on gender (significance value = 0.400). 2) There was a significant difference in student engagement based on academic year (significance value = 0.001); further analysis showed that first-year students had the highest mean score compared to students in higher years. From these results, it can be concluded that there was no difference in student engagement by gender, whereas by academic year, there was a significant difference. This study provides new insights into the factors of gender and academic year that can impact student engagement. It is hoped that future studies can conduct in-depth analysis using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) on related variables and involve a more diverse range of subjects.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of guidance and counselling programs on students' understanding of juvenile delinquency in a vocational high school in Bandung. Juvenile delinquency is a social problem that often arises in schools and can hinder the development of students' character. Guidance and counselling services are expected to act as preventive measures, increasing students' awareness and understanding of deviant behaviour and its negative consequences. This study used a quantitative, one-group pretest-posttest design with 329 students. The research instrument was a questionnaire designed to measure students' understanding of juvenile delinquency before and after receiving guidance and counselling services. Data analysis was carried out using a paired-samples t-test in SPSS version 25. The analysis showed a significant increase in students' understanding after participating in the guidance and counselling program, with a t-value of -39.85 and p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). These findings prove that the guidance and counselling program is effective in increasing students' awareness and understanding of various forms of juvenile delinquency and their impacts. Therefore, this study recommends strengthening the implementation of guidance and counselling programs as a preventive strategy to address deviant behaviour in schools.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of social stigma on the resilience of Banjarmasin Class 1 Correctional Centre clients. The researcher used a quantitative correlational research method. Respondents in this study were 100 people selected using a purposive sampling technique, with the criterion that clients had undergone mandatory reporting at the Bapas for approximately 1 week to 4 months. The research instrument used the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC-25) and the Perceived Social Stigmatisation Scale (STS). The research data were analysed using simple linear regression in JASP 0.18.3. The analysis showed no effect of social stigma on resilience (t = 3.88, p = 0.89), thereby rejecting the hypothesis. This finding indicates that although Bapas clients still face social stigma, this condition does not directly weaken the client's ability to recover, adapt, and maintain healthy psychological functioning. The implications of this research contribute to social psychology studies, providing insight into the dynamics of resilience during social transition. Social stigma does not always function as a risk factor that weakens resilience. The presence of social stigma will only affect individuals if they interpret it negatively.
