Abstract

Modernization in Western society implies thoughts, currents, movements and efforts to change old understandings, customs, institutions and so on, to suit the new atmosphere brought about by advances in modern science and technology. The advancement of modern science and technology entered the Islamic world, especially after the opening of the 19th century AD which in Islamic history is seen as the beginning of the modern period. Contact nationalism, nationalism, democracy and so on. All this gave rise to new problems and the Islamic leaders began to think about how to solve the new problems. As is the case in the West in the Muslim world, ideas and movements have also arisen to adapt Islamic religious ideas to new developments brought about by advances in modern science and technology. In this way, modern Islamic leaders hope to release Muslims from an atmosphere of decline to be brought to progress. Renewal can be carried out without leaving religion. What needs to be left in the renewal is a tradition that is contrary to the times.

Abstract

This article discusses the development of Islamic education in China using a historical approach. The results of the discussion obtained an understanding that the earliest Muslim communities in China were descended from traders, militias, and Muslim officials from Arab, Persian, Central Asian, and Mongolian origin who originally settled along the southeast coast of China in the 7th century AD although At first Muslims were considered foreigners, but because of their ability to communicate persuasively and assimilate with Chinese society, Islam was accepted by the Chinese peacefully and voluntarily, even some dynastic officials in China and other tribes embraced Islam. Then they built a mosque in every settlement of Chinese Muslims. Islamic education in China is developed through education in mosques, known as the "Mosque educational system" which was pioneered by Hu Deng Zhou, a Muslim scholar in the Xi'an area, and assisted by Ahong (Imam) as the main teacher at each mosque in China. The mosque thus has a long history, and is the oldest religious educational institution in China. Mosques in China during the early days of the growth of Islam in China, became the most important educational institutions. In addition to educational institutions in mosques, Islamic schools have also developed in China (a kind of madrasah / pesantren), both those placed on the porch of mosques and those managed by Islamic organizations. And for higher education, the government together with Chinese Muslims has established 9 (nine) Islamic universities, which are spread across various provinces.

Abstract

This article discusses customary law in the formation of Islamic law in Indonesia. The results of the discussion obtained an understanding that customary law is original Indonesian law which is not written / contained in the statutory form of the Republic of Indonesia and here and there contain religious elements. Meanwhile, Islamic law is a regulation that is taken from Allah's revelation and formulated in four thought products, namely: Fiqh, Ulama Fatwa, Court Decisions (Jurisprudence) and Laws (Qanun) which are guided and enforced for Muslims in Indonesia. The implementation of customary law in the formation of Islamic law in Indonesia can be seen in the process of fostering Islamic law which enforces the rule of al-adātul al-muhakkamāt. This means that customs that are not contrary to syara 'can be adopted within the framework of fiqîh that is enforced in Indonesia. The familiar relationship between customary law and Islamic law can be interpreted from expressions in several regions. For example: (Aceh) "the law of ngon adat hantom cre, lagee" ngon sipeut substance. " (Islamic law and customary law cannot be separated because they are closely related, such as the relationship between substance and the nature of a thing or thing), and Sulawesi with the phrase: "adat hula-hulaa to syaraa, syaraa hula-hulaa to adati." (adat with syara 'jointed, syara' with traditional jointed).

Abstract

Between Religion and Science there should not be a dichotomy that must go hand in hand, in harmony and in balance because science and technology can only be of maximum benefit to humans if the person who owns it is a religious (moral) person. Science and Technology that is not framed or limited by Religion or Morals will only add sophistication to the way humans destroy civilization. Several incidents and events have shown among them America has dropped atomic bombs on the densely populated cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan at the end of World War II. And besides that, the American invasion of Iraq a few years ago, all of which shows how evil Science and Technology is developing among people who have no religion (moral). Actually, if only humans, especially Muslims, followed Allah's instructions, of course Science and Technology would not be a disaster for humans if they were limited by religion (morals). The development of science and technology will provide the greatest benefit to humans.
