Abstract

Employee productivity plays a critical role in determining organizational success, influencing profitability, efficiency, and global competitiveness. This research investigates the determinants of employee productivity in factories within the Royal Group Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (RGPPSEZ), focusing on welfare facilities, wages and benefits, working conditions, training and development, and employee motivation across 20 factories. A quantitative research design involved gathering data from 600 workers through structured questionnaires. The data was analyzed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) to examine the relationships between independent variables: welfare facilities, wages and benefits, working conditions, training and development, and employee motivation and the dependent variable: employee productivity. The findings indicated that welfare facilities and training and development significantly impacted employee motivation, which in turn positively affected productivity. Interestingly, wages and benefits and working conditions showed no significant impact on motivation while the relationship between training and development and employee productivity was deemed insignificant. These insights highlight the importance of prioritizing welfare facilities and robust training programs to enhance employee motivation and productivity within the RGPPSEZ context.

Performance management is tied to the strategy of the organization leadership and has a strong impact on the entire organizational performance. In view of this, the purpose of this study is to identify relevant factors that promote the higher employee performance in different industries. In this literature study, factors such as job satisfaction, job commitment, and job engagement will be deeply reviewed and further proved if they are the key factors to enhance the job performance in an organization. The study is conducted using qualitative methods based on previous recent publications and reports by both public and private industries. In addition, three models of motivational theories such as equity, expectancy, and two-factor theory are employed in this study. The findings from these comparative studies from previous researches and corporate report show that the four factors have been found its alignment between each other. Job satisfaction leads to job commitment, job commitment leads to higher job engagement, and higher job engagement leads to higher employee performance. The absence of one factor will definitely lead to the absence of another.

Abstract

This study explores effects of artificial intelligence (AI) on Cambodia's workforce as AI becomes increasingly prevalent in work and education. Concerned about potential job displacement, the research investigates how AI is changing job roles, required skills, and employment patterns across various Cambodian industries. Using a quantitative approach, the study surveyed 435 individuals from different sectors and analyzed the data through simple and multivariate regressions. The findings indicate a strong link between AI and workforce dynamics. Specifically, task characteristics, specialized AI domain knowledge, and AI-driven information processing positively influence workforce changes. Interestingly, general AI skills and knowledge did not show a significant impact. Supplementing the quantitative data, interviews with key individuals offered insights into future of AI in employment, raising worries about job losses, data privacy issues, and unequal access. Abstract

Higher education plays a pivotal role in national development, particularly in rapidly evolving societies like Cambodia. In Cambodia, where the higher education landscape is undergoing rapid transformation and expansion, understanding and developing effective academic leadership is particularly crucial. Strong academic leadership is essential for navigating the complex challenges facing higher education today, including globalization, technological advancements, evolving student demographics, and increasing demands for accountability and quality assurance. Despite the acknowledged importance of academic leadership in higher education, there is a limited understanding of the specific experiences and factors that contribute to successful academic leadership within the unique context of Cambodian universities. A phenomenological study was employed for interviewing and collecting the insights from 12 academic participants in universities. This study examines the experiences and challenges faced by university leaders in Cambodia, as well as the key factors contributing to their success. Drawing on data analysis of career paths and leadership development. The research reveals that Cambodian university leaders bring diverse prior experiences to their roles, including teaching, administration, research, and non-academic work, which provide valuable skills and perspectives. However, they also encounter significant challenges stemming from limited funding, faculty development needs, technological gaps, cultural expectations, and infrastructural limitations. Despite these obstacles, successful university leaders demonstrate visionary thinking, emotional intelligence, ethical decision-making, collaborative approaches, adaptability, and a commitment to innovation and transparency. These findings highlight the complex landscape of higher education leadership in Cambodia and offer insights into the qualities and strategies necessary for effective leadership in this context.

Abstract

In contemporary contexts, marketing has emerged as a key element to contribute the success of private higher education (PHEs). The purpose of this research to explore the components of the Marketing mix and their impact on student’s enrollment in private higher education in Cambodia (PHEs). Various sampling techniques, including purposive, simple random, and quota sampling, were used in this quantitative study, resulting in a participant of 600 students enrolled in diverse majors across three universities, from their studies in year1 semester2 to year 4. In order to investigate the relationship between the components of the marketing mix and student’s enrollment, this research utilized adaptations of CFA (Confirmatory Factor Analysis) and SEM (Structural Equation Modeling). The results indicated a notable and positive connection between the components of product, price, promotional, people, and process with the rates of student’s enrollment. In contrast, the aspects of placement and physical evidence did not show any significant impact. The findings contribute to existing literature by offering insights rooted in buying behavior theory. Consequently, it is recommended that universities tailor their marketing strategies to align with their specific contexts, with an emphasis on optimizing pricing and promotional efforts to bolster their student recruitment endeavors based on their financial capacities.

Abstract

The research examines how stakeholders in Garut Indonesia view Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications for inclusive education while filling the knowledge deficit about AI's contribution to fair learning environments. The research investigates how AI benefits, challenges, and ethical issues affect inclusive education from teacher and student and parental viewpoints. The research used a mixed-methods design to gather data through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions and surveys with 120 participants distributed among 40 teachers and 50 students and 30 parents for three months. The research shows AI provides three main advantages to inclusive education: personalized learning (students’ mean rating: 4.5), adaptability, and resource accessibility. The study identifies three major obstacles which include data privacy concerns (parents’ mean rating: 4.3) and technology dependency and reduced teacher-student communication. The educational staff views AI technology as an educational resource yet they prioritize the preservation of human relationships between teachers and students while parents focus on data protection and developmental threats. The study faces limitations because it focuses on Garut and has a short research duration which restricts the ability to generalize findings. The recommendations call for strong data protection measures and teacher training and parental education to solve ethical problems such as algorithmic bias. The research demonstrates how AI should coexist with human interaction to achieve educational equity while proposing future investigations into cognitive-socio-emotional effects and adaptive policy development.

Abstract

Carving is a subtractive sculpture technique. In Nigeria, it evolved from traditional to contemporary art periods with its training domiciled in informal and formal art schools. Existing literature largely addressed traditional, informal training methods and historical practices of carving, however, there is a notable lack of focused studies on carving training and practice in formal Nigerian Art schools. This study investigates the training and practice of carving at LAUTECH Art School via students’ and alumni feedback. It aims to document existing Carvings, assess the pedagogical approaches employed in carving training, identify challenges limiting effective carving training and practice, and propose potential reforms to revitalize and sustain the carving practice in formal Nigerian art schools. The study adopts a qualitative research methodology, collecting primary data through surveys, semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, and field investigation. Secondary data were sourced from academic journal articles, and reports on carving practice in Nigeria. All data gathered were subjected to qualitative analysis. Findings revealed that carving is not a preferred sculpture technique at LAUTECH Art School. The lack of infrastructure dedicated to carving and insufficient staffing hinder effective training. Respondents’ concern about carving’s economic viability resulted in a declining student interest in the practice. The study recommends increased investment in tools and materials, recruitment of specialized instructors, integration of traditional and modern carving methods, and the organization of regular exhibitions and training programs. These efforts could revitalize interest in carving, enabling LAUTECH Art School to preserve and promote Nigeria’s rich carving heritage.

Abstract

One of the fundamental principles underlying financing in sharia banks is the principle of profit sharing, specifically in mudharabah and musyarakah contracts. These financing schemes are characterized by the sharing of business profits and losses. However, the term “debt” appears in the clauses of mudharabah and musyarakah financing contracts in sharia banks and in several Religious Court decisions. In fact, financing based on the profit-sharing principle constitutes a partnership between capital and labor, not a debt or credit contract. Therefore, in mudharabah financing, if a loss occurs that is not due to the negligence of the capital manager (mudharib), it is borne by the capital owner (shahibul maal), whereas in musyarakah financing, losses are borne jointly. This study examines the issue of debt in financing based on the profit-sharing principle. The approaches employed include statutory, conceptual, and case law analysis. The term “debt” in this context refers to an outstanding obligation in the form of financing capital and the profit-sharing portion derived from the ongoing business income of the mudharib, which is the rightful share of the shahibul maal. However, the profit-sharing portion from a business that has ceased operations is not considered a debt that the mudharib is obligated to repay to the shahibul maal.
