Jurnal Dimensi DKV Seni Rupa dan Desain was published by Faculty of Art and Design Trisakti University in 2016. This journal is published regularly 2 (two) times a year, every April and October. Articles in Jurnal Dimensi DKV Seni Rupa dan Desain include knowledge, studies, research, intellectual ideas and ideas related to the science of art, culture especially those related to Visual Communication Design, such as advertising, graphic design, digital multimedia, typography, illustration and photography. Jurnal Dimensi DKV Seni Rupa is published both in print and online versions. The aim of Jurnal Dimensi DKV Seni Rupa dan Desain to publish original papers , conceptual frameworks, analytical and simulation models, case studies, empirical research, and book reviews .Also to develop and communicate widely the development of art and design theoretical and pragmatic.

Abstract

Abstract Designing "The Adventure of Twinny" for children aged 4-6 years to provide an effective and fun learning experience. Early childhood education has a very important role for the development of children. Early childhood has a Golden Age at the age of 0-6 years which begins with physical, motor and language development. However, every child has problems, especially in terms of education and learning methods. The problem faced by early childhood is that they have difficulty in remembering, reading, spelling, and writing. As well as having difficulty in counting material caused by internal factors and external factors. The cause of internal factors is that the child has difficulty in counting, and the cause of external factors is parents who teach children to count with monotonous methods, making it difficult for children to understand, and the counting material taught is not suitable for early childhood. The purpose of this design is to design a children's storybook "The Adventure of Twinny" with a focus on interesting concepts and visual design elements for children aged 4-6 years with the aim of providing an effective, interactive and fun learning experience. This design method uses a qualitative method by collecting literature data sources, as well as interviews with parents (mothers), and children's book illustrators. TThe results of the design are in the form of a storybook design concept supported by valid literature data sources and illustrative design of interesting visual elements with the aim of providing an interactive learning experience, effective education, and fun for children aged 4-6 years which aims to educate children about the names of 5 types of vegetables, helping children in reading, spelling, writing, and counting by using objects in the form of vegetable characters. Keywords: book design, illustration, education, children, early childhood  Abstrak Perancangan “The Adventure of Twinny” Untuk Anak Usia 4-6 Tahun Guna Memberikan Pengalaman Belajar yang Efektif dan Menyenangkan. Pendidikan anak usia dini berperan penting dalam tumbuh kembang anak, terutama pada masa keemasan mereka (Golden Age) di usia 0-6 tahun, yang ditandai dengan perkembangan fisik, motorik, dan bahasa. Anak usia dini memiliki permasalahan terutama dalam hal pendidikan dan metode pembelajaran yang monoton. Permasalahan tersebut seperti, kesulitan dalam mengingat, membaca, mengeja, menulis dan berhitung, baik disebabkan oleh faktor internal maupun eksternal. Tujuan dari perancangan ini adalah merancang buku cerita anak “The Adventure of Twinny” dengan fokus pada konsep dan unsur desain visual yang menarik untuk anak usia 4-6 tahun dengan tujuan memberikan pengalaman belajar yang efektif, interaktif dan menyenangkan. Metode perancangan ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan mengumpulkan sumber data literatur, serta wawancara kepada orang tua (ibu), dan ilustrator buku anak. Hasil perancangan berupa konsep desain buku cerita yang didukung sumber data literatur yang valid dan desain ilustrasi unsur visual yang menarik dengan tujuan memberikan pengalaman belajar interaktif, edukasi efektif, dan menyenangkan bagi anak usia 4-6 tahun yang bertujuan untuk mengedukasi anak tentang nama 5 jenis sayuran, membantu anak dalam membaca, mengeja, menulis, dan berhitung dengan menggunakan benda berbentuk karakter sayuran.Kata kunci: desain buku, ilustrasi, edukasi, anak, usia dini

Abstract

AbstractPhotography Practice with Journalistic Photography Approach: Labor Protest Against Rising Fuel Prices. This research examines labor demonstrations against the increase in fuel prices as a significant economic issue in Indonesia. Labor, as an essential part of the workforce, plays a strategic role in Indonesia's economic ecosystem. In this context, the research aims to document these demonstrations through photojournalism, applying the EDFAT method (Entire, Detail, Frame, Angle, Time). The research employs a practicebased research method, which combines direct field observations with literature review. Observations are conducted to gain a deep understanding of the situation and conditions of the demonstrations, while literature review is conducted to study theories of photojournalism, the EDFAT method, decisive moment theory, and available light. Photojournalism is chosen as an approach due to its ability to communicate complex information through visual elements. The result is photography works that not only record events but also depict the atmosphere, emotions, and messages conveyed by the demonstrators. Through the process of observation, experimentation, and realization of works, this research provides a comprehensive overview of labor demonstrations and the socio-political dynamics surrounding them. Penelitian ini membahas demonstrasi buruh menentang kenaikan harga bahan bakar minyak (BBM) sebagai isu ekonomi yang signifikan di Indonesia. Buruh sebagai bagian penting dari populasi pekerja memiliki peran strategis dalam ekosistem ekonomi Indonesia. Dalam konteks ini, penelitian bertujuan untuk mendokumentasikan demonstrasi tersebut melalui fotografi jurnalistik dengan menerapkan metode EDFAT (Entire, Detail, Frame, Angle, Time). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode practice-based research, yang memadukan observasi langsung di lapangan dengan studi literatur. Observasi dilakukan untuk memahami secara mendalam situasi dan kondisi demonstrasi, sedangkan studi literatur dilakukan untuk mempelajari teori fotografi jurnalistik, metode EDFAT, teori decisive moment, dan available light. Fotografi jurnalistik dipilih sebagai pendekatan karena kemampuannya dalam mengkomunikasikan informasi kompleks melalui elemen visual. Hasilnya adalah karya-karya yang tidak hanya merekam peristiwa, tetapi juga menggambarkan suasana, emosi, dan pesan yang ingin disampaikan oleh para demonstran. Melalui proses observasi, eksperimentasi, dan perwujudan karya, penelitian ini memberikan gambaran yang komprehensif tentang demonstrasi buruh dan dinamika sosial-politik yang melingkupinya. Abstract

Gender Bias and Indonesian Trait Representation (Case Study: Nyi Roro Kidul and Gatot Kaca). Local legend and shadow puppet stories still have place to perform and inspire in Indonesian popular culture. This journal entry discusses two characters’: Nyi Roro Kidul from local lore and Gatot Kaca from the Indonesian Shadow Puppet narrative. These two characters have been represented in popular mediums such as comics, books, movie posters, and an online game. These two characters were chosen to show each gender. The visual samples for the representation are Roro from Ghost School Days comic series, Kadita from Mobile Legends Bang Bang, Nyi Roro Kidul from Kisah Tanah Jawa Book, and Gatot Kaca from Putra Langit comic trilogy, Satria Dewa Movie and Mobile Legends Bang Bang. Social semiotics and questionnaires were the mixed methods to analyze these visuals. The social semiotic method consists of representational, interactive, and compositional meanings. These three meanings are part of the gender construct.  This study's findings are Nyi Roro Kidul illustration was considered the most feminine and has the most Indonesian traits. While Gatot Kaca from Putra Langit was considered the most masculine and Indonesian.

Abstract

Designing of Educational and Communicative Illustrated Storybooks “The Legend of Mount Tampomas” for Children 7-9 Years Old. This study aims to create an informational medium about the folklore or legend of Mount Tampomas for children aged 7-9 years in the form of an illustrated book. This folklore is a legend derived from the regional story of Sumedang district. The effort will be to package this folklore into an attractive, educational, and communicative illustrated story to capture the interest of children aged 7-9 years, helping them better understand the history of folklore. The design of the illustrated folklore book includes visual illustrations and minimal text tailored to the children's world. This study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive research method, utilizing techniques such as distributing questionnaires to respondents and reading information from literature studies. The final goal of this illustrated folklore book design research is to create an educational and communicative illustrated folklore book. It is expected to become a medium to introduce the folklore of the Legend of Mount Tampomas to children.

Abstract

The Implementation of Cinematography Techniques in Advertising Production Process at Mulyaharja Organic Agro Edutourism. Mulyaharja Organic Agro Edutourism is a tourist village location that uses rice fields as educational and tourism material for the community. Mulyaharja Organic Agro Edutourism uses social media Instagram to convey information for its various services. Interesting content is needed so that the information conveyed via Instagram social media can be conveyed according to the intended target. This final project focuses on the role of a videographer and the production of advertising videos with the implementation of cinematography techniques. This advertising video production stage applies various cinematographic techniques, namely the type of shooting, shooting angles, composition, and camera movement. This advertising video lasts 4 minutes 36 seconds with a ratio of 9:16 in MP4 format, aiming to be a social media advertisement for the Mulyaharja Organic Agro Eduwisata Instagram social media.

Abstract

Designing the "Change2O" Infographic Website as an Educational Media for Household Organic Waste Management Using Composting Method in Bandung City. One of the goals of SDG Point 12 is closely related to the sustainable waste management process. Data shows that household organic waste ranks the highest in waste production in Indonesia. Following the Sarimukti landfill fire in Bandung, which was linked to the accumulation of organic waste, the government has implemented a policy prohibiting the disposal of organic waste at the Sarimukti landfill. The public is now expected to manage waste independently or in groups. This study aims to design an infographic website providing information and education on managing household organic waste. This digital educational tool is intended to be more practical, efficient, and engaging, using infographic displays to simplify the understanding of the information. The study employed the D&D method, conducted through six stages. Research participants included media and content expert validators, as well as housewife respondents aged 25-35 years in Bandung. The design of this infographic website received positive feedback and has been found to help improve understanding of organic waste management while also expanding new knowledge.

Abstract

Environmental Graphic Design for Sea World Ancol. Sea World Ancol is the first oceanarium in Indonesia, located within Taman Impian Jaya Ancol, and is very popular among the public. Between 2022 and 2023, the number of visitors increased rapidly, making the Environmental Graphic Design (EGD) system essential for navigating and conveying information to visitors. This research aims to identify issues and provide better design solutions for the EGD at Sea World Ancol. The methodology follows the design phases proposed by Calori and Vanden-Eynden, starting with the pre-design phase to collect and analyze data through observation, document studies, questionnaires, interviews, and literature reviews. The design phase includes the development of schematic concepts, design development, and documentation. Thus, this design project aims to produce a new EGD for Sea World Ancol that is effective in terms of graphics, information, and hardware systems.

Abstract

The Utilization of Mega Mendung Traditional Symbols and Elements as Visual Identity for Local Indonesian Products. This research explores the utilization of the Mega Mendung batik motif in the visual identity design of Indonesian local products and its impact on market appeal. Through a qualitative approach, the research analyzes how the integration of traditional elements in the packaging of culinary and souvenir products can enhance visual appeal and add value to the products. The results indicate that consumers respond positively to products featuring designs that incorporate traditional elements, as they are perceived as more authentic and culturally valuable. The challenges of integrating traditional and modern elements can be addressed through effective collaboration between designers, producers, and other stakeholders to ensure a design that is both harmonious and market-appropriate. This study emphasizes the importance of traditional elements in creating a strong visual identity and product differentiation, as well as the need for a collaborative approach to enhance the competitiveness of local products in the global marketplace.

Abstract

Campaign Still Life Photography #oceanforlife: The Negative Impact of Plastic Waste on Marine Animals. Indonesia ranks as the second-largest contributor of plastic waste into the ocean, which poses a serious threat to marine life. Plastic contaminated with microorganisms from the plastisphere is often misinterpreted as food by marine animals, endangering the ecosystem. This research aims to raise public awareness about the importance of keeping the ocean clean and protecting marine animals. The author employs a still life photography approach in this campaign to illustrate the negative impacts of plastic waste. A practice-based research method is chosen, where the creative process of photographing and selecting props serves as the primary tools for conveying the message. The result is a collection of five still life photographs that effectively communicate the campaign's message. Still life photography proves to be a powerful visual approach for voicing environmental issues without the need for direct interaction with the ocean

Abstract

Social Disparities in Jakarta Through Photojournalism. Jakarta is known for its numerous slum areas, a result of rural-to-urban migration, exemplified in places like Petamburan along the Ciliwung River. The stark social disparities between the affluent and the impoverished are evident in these areas. The aim of this research is to provide a perspective on these disparities through photojournalism, utilizing Practice-Based Research methodology to capture images that focus on social inequalities and technical aspects. The research produced five photographic works using photojournalistic techniques, showcasing the disparities between luxurious and impoverished lifestyles in Jakarta. In conclusion, the author utilized a photojournalistic approach to discuss the city's social disparities, highlighting the contradiction between luxurious living and poverty.
