Abstract

The phenomena of Bullying and cyberbullying have become significant social issues, threatening human dignity and social harmony, especially in the digital era. The anonymity provided by digital platforms exacerbates these problems, necessitating comprehensive prevention strategies. This study explores how Pancasila, the foundational ideology of Indonesia, can guide efforts to combat online aggression. Using qualitative literature review and thematic analysis, five key principles of Pancasila are identified as relevant: the First Principle promotes spiritual awareness; the Second emphasizes individual dignity as a moral compass; the Third advocates tolerance to combat discrimination; the Fourth encourages resolution of online conflicts through deliberation; and the Fifth underpins social justice. These principles collectively offer a philosophical framework for fostering ethical and civilized digital citizens. Integrating Pancasila into digital behavior strategies can strengthen efforts to address cyberbullying, ensuring respect, tolerance, and justice in the digital space, which is crucial in today’s interconnected world.

Abstract

This study analyzes the gap in formal opinion participation among Telkom University students, despite their high awareness of campus issues. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, general students and the student press were interviewed to examine the factors inhibiting opinion participation. The results indicate that low formal participation is caused by two main factors: the Channel Awareness Factor (massive ignorance about opinion platforms, including anonymity features, in campus media) and the Freedom of Speech Climate Factor (the existence of a chilling effect or climate of fear validated by the intervention experience experienced by the student press). The conclusion highlights that the role of "campus citizen" is still practiced through informal channels (chatting with friends and personal reports to members of the press) as a low-risk response. The implications of the study suggest the need to strengthen institutional guarantees and socialize formal channels to encourage more active, critical, and responsible citizenship practices.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of gamification in Civics Education (PPKn) based on the traditional Fahombo fighting values in developing a perseverant character among high school students in South Nias Regency. The gamification model was developed by integrating the symbolism of the Fahombo stone-jumping tradition as a metaphor for challenge, courage, and mental resilience, making PPKn learning not only theoretical but also contextual and culturally relevant. The research method employed was a library research and literature review, supported by observations of gamification implementation in several high schools in South Nias. The findings indicate that gamification based on Fahombo traditional values enhances students’ learning motivation, engagement, as well as critical and collaborative thinking skills. Furthermore, this approach effectively fosters a perseverant character, encouraging students to keep trying despite initial failures. This study confirms that integrating local wisdom into PPKn gamification can serve as an innovative strategy for character education, strengthen cultural identity, and instill Pancasila values meaningfully. These findings also provide opportunities for the development of a more contextual and culturally grounded curriculum in secondary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Pancasila as the foundational state philosophy and as a guiding principle in shaping the character of the Indonesian nation. The focus of the research lies in the development of character based on responsibility, defined as an individual’s ability to carry out tasks diligently and to accept the consequences of their actions. The millennial generation is expected to make sound decisions and take responsibility for the outcomes of their actions, although in reality, many have yet to consistently demonstrate this capacity. To achieve these objectives, this study employs a qualitative approach through a literature review method. Data are collected from various reliable sources, including books, scholarly articles, journals, and relevant online resources. The collected information is then thoroughly read, understood, synthesized, and analyzed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the role of Pancasila in fostering a sense of responsibility among the younger generation. Consequently, the study not only highlights the theoretical significance of Pancasila but also emphasizes its practical relevance in shaping morally responsible, conscientious, and socially aware young individuals who can contribute positively to society and the nation.

Abstract

Kalimantan is renowned for its exceptionally high biodiversity, making it one of Indonesia’s most ecologically significant regions. However, this rich natural environment faces serious threats from human activities such as deforestation, plantation expansion, mining, and land conversion. These actions not only endanger endemic species but also disrupt ecological balance and negatively affect the livelihoods and welfare of local communities who depend on natural resources for their daily needs. This study employs a qualitative-descriptive approach based on literature review to examine these environmental threats and to analyze how Pancasila values particularly principles 3 (unity), 4 (deliberation), and 5 (social justice) can guide conservation efforts. Findings indicate that short-term economic exploitation often neglects ecological concerns and exacerbates social inequalities. The principle of unity is crucial for reconciling the sometimes conflicting interests of government, private sectors, and local communities. Deliberation ensures that conservation policies are developed inclusively, while social justice protects the rights and welfare of local residents, particularly indigenous and marginalized groups. Moreover, the concept of ecological justice emphasizes the responsibility of the current generation to safeguard environmental resources for future generations. Effective conservation in Kalimantan, therefore, requires adherence to Pancasila values and collaborative efforts across sectors, combining ecological preservation with social equity. Such an approach promotes sustainable development that balances human needs with the protection of biodiversity and ecosystem integrity.

Abstract

This study explores how freedom of expression is practiced within modern residential areas in Indonesia, focusing on the social dynamics between permanent residents and temporary renters. Using in-depth interviews as the primary method, the research captures everyday experiences related to communication, information access, and participation in neighborhood life. The findings reveal a clear information gap between these two groups, largely driven by the exclusion of renters from the main residential WhatsApp group that functions as the central communication channel. This form of information gatekeeping results in renters having limited knowledge about neighborhood meetings, community rules, social events, and collective decision-making processes. As a consequence, renters often feel disconnected and are less likely to participate in communal activities, reinforcing their marginal position within the residential environment. Although there are no explicit prohibitions against renters expressing their opinions, the lack of access to communication platforms effectively silences their voices. These challenges are compounded by minimal face-to-face interaction among residents and the physical design of cluster housing, which emphasizes privacy, boundaries, and individual ownership over shared social spaces. Such environments reduce opportunities for spontaneous interaction and dialogue, further weakening social cohesion. The study concludes that freedom of expression should not be understood merely as the absence of formal restrictions, but as a condition that requires inclusive and accessible communication structures. Therefore, the findings underscore the importance of developing more open and participatory communication mechanisms to ensure that all residents, regardless of their residential status, can engage meaningfully in community life.
