Abstract

Education for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires learning approaches that are applicable and relevant to local contexts. This study examines the implementation of a real project-based learning model through multi-stakeholder partnerships at SMP Negeri 1 Sungkai Tengah, North Lampung. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research involved teachers and eighth-grade students in three main projects: (1) agricultural land management for food crops with the community, (2) honey bee cultivation with CV Bramara Sentosa, and (3) oyster mushroom cultivation using corn cob waste media with village MSMEs. The results indicate that real project-based learning enhances students' understanding of SDG principles, particularly Goals 2, 8, 12, and 15, while developing responsibility, ecological awareness, and collaborative skills. The study reveals key supporting factors such as shared vision and reciprocal benefits, as well as challenges like time constraints and differing work cultures, which were successfully managed through adaptive communication and structured agreements. Authentic assessment methods, including portfolios and presentations to community panels, proved effective in measuring holistic competency development. The study concludes that school-community-business synergy is an effective strategy for transformative SDG learning at the junior high school level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze trends in the implementation of the Guided Inquiry model in improving students’ scientific reasoning skills. The study employed a Systematic Literature Review approach by examining 20 articles published between 2020 and 2025. The screening and eligibility processes were conducted to ensure the relevance, quality, and alignment of the selected articles with the research focus. The findings indicate that Guided Inquiry is consistently effective in enhancing students’ scientific reasoning skills at both junior and senior high school levels, particularly when combined with the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach. The most frequently used research method was a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test, allowing for empirical assessment of changes in students’ reasoning abilities. Bibliometric analysis further revealed that although the primary focus of this review is scientific reasoning, the most dominant keyword in the publications was critical thinking skills, indicating that measurements of critical thinking are more commonly conducted than those of scientific reasoning.

Abstract

Blumea balsamifera contains bioactive metabolites that are presumed to support the presence of endophytic bacteria capable of producing secondary metabolites with pesticidal potential, making this plant a promising source of eco-friendly biopesticides. This study aimed to isolate and identify endophytic bacteria associated with B. balsamifera and to evaluate the insecticidal activity of their secondary metabolites against Bemisia tabaci. Endophytic bacteria were isolated using the Direct Planting and Grinding methods, followed by purification, Gram staining, and metabolite production through liquid culture in Luria-Bertani (LB) medium. The isolated strain was identified as a Gram-negative, short rod-shaped bacterium producing a yellowish supernatant, which was successfully extracted using ethyl acetate to obtain an extracellular metabolite fraction. Toxicity bioassays revealed a clear dose–response pattern, with 24-hour mortality of B. tabaci increasing from 55.00% at 35% concentration to 80.00% at 75% concentration. Probit analysis yielded an LC₅₀ value of 1500.95, while LT₅₀ decreased significantly from 42.26 hours to 15.87 hours as metabolite concentration increased. These findings confirm that endophytic bacteria isolated from B. balsamifera are capable of producing secondary metabolites effective in suppressing B. tabaci populations, highlighting their strong potential for development as environmentally friendly plant-based biopesticides.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the practice of English code-switching in discussions in the Teaching English as an International Language (TEIL) course in the university environment. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach to examine the form and function of code-switching as a communicative strategy in the context of multilingual learning. The research data was collected through video recordings of Zoom-based class discussions, student questionnaires, and supporting documentation in the form of Semester Learning Plans (RPS) and lecture materials. The verbal data obtained is transcribed and analyzed thematically to identify the context and purpose of using code-switching. The results of the study show that code-switching is used by students to (1) clarify understanding of theoretical concepts, (2) maintain the continuity of academic communication, (3) affirm critical opinions or attitudes, and (4) build solidarity and comfort in discussions. These findings indicate that code-switching does not solely reflect linguistic limitations, but rather is a communicative strategy that is in line with the principles of Teaching English as an International Language (TEIL) and English as a Lingua Franca (ELF). Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of applying a more inclusive and contextual pedagogical approach to multilingual practices in English learning in higher education.

Abstract

Mamanda is a form of traditional folk theater from the Banjar community that serves not only as entertainment but also as a means of conveying moral, social, and religious values. This article aims to explore the concept, philosophy, cultural identity, and Islamic educational values embedded in Mamanda art. The research uses a qualitative-descriptive approach through literature studies of books, journal articles, and written sources related to the Mamanda culture. The findings indicate that Mamanda emerged from the social construction of the Banjar community, which had a strong curiosity about royal life, thus being presented with a royal palace setting and symbolic royal characters. Mamanda features a performing arts concept developed from the influence of Malay and local Banjar cultures, with a distinctive performance structure. The philosophy of Mamanda reflects the worldview of the religious, democratic, educational, and aesthetic Banjar people, while upholding the importance of togetherness. The cultural identity of Mamanda is evident through the use of Banjar and Malay Banjar languages, traditional costumes, music, and accompanying dances. Additionally, Mamanda contains Islamic educational values and character education such as religiosity, honesty, responsibility, discipline, social concern, and the spirit of togetherness. Thus, Mamanda holds great potential as an Islamic education medium based on local culture, while also serving as a means to preserve the local wisdom of the Banjar community.
