Abstract

The ability to read aloud is an important part of Indonesian language learning in elementary school, especially for lower-grade students who are still in the early stages of developing literacy skills. Students often face difficulties with pronunciation, fluency, and controlling intonation when reading aloud. This article aims to examine the use of pop-up book media in teaching read-aloud skills through a literature study approach. The results of the review show that pop-up books can increase learning motivation, help students understand story context, and strengthen their ability to pronounce words and control intonation while reading. This medium is considered effective as an engaging alternative for reading instruction that aligns with the characteristics of lower-grade students.

Abstract

Concentration is a crucial aspect of the learning process, playing a significant role in students' success in understanding subject matter. Low levels of concentration can hinder information acquisition, decrease motivation, and negatively impact learning outcomes. This paper aims to identify factors influencing low student concentration, analyze their impact on material comprehension, and examine effective learning strategies to improve student concentration. Factors affecting concentration can be divided into two categories: internal factors such as health, interests, talents, and motivation, and external factors such as family circumstances, the school environment, and the community. The impacts of low concentration include difficulty understanding material, decreased critical thinking skills, and decreased motivation and self-confidence. To address these issues, educators need to implement varied and engaging learning strategies, such as the use of icebreakers and role-playing methods, to create a fun classroom atmosphere and support the achievement of optimal learning outcomes.

Abstract

This article discusses the various difficulties students experience when interacting with teachers during the learning process at school. The relationship between teachers and students is crucial because it significantly impacts learning success. A lack of communication and openness often makes it difficult for students to understand lessons and lowers their enthusiasm for learning. The purpose of this paper is to explain the causes of interaction barriers, their impact on learning outcomes, and how teachers can address them. The study revealed that interaction barriers can arise from internal factors such as a lack of interest and self-confidence, as well as external factors such as an unsupportive learning environment and unengaging teaching methods. To overcome these challenges, teachers need to create an active learning atmosphere, use a variety of teaching methods, and provide ongoing guidance and encouragement. A good relationship between teachers and students can make the learning process more effective and foster students' social and emotional development.

Abstract

This study is a literature analysis aimed at mapping empirical and conceptual evidence regarding the use of poetry reading videos to develop elementary school students' expressive abilities. The review includes studies published between 2020 and 2025, including journal articles, proceedings, theses, and media development reports. The synthetic results indicate that poetry reading videos serve as expressive models (intonation, articulation, mimicry, tempo), increase student motivation and engagement, and help build self-confidence when performing. Furthermore, videos provide multimodal access that facilitates understanding of poetry meaning and reading techniques. Findings from several experimental and media development studies support the effectiveness of video-based interventions for expressive aspects of poetry reading in elementary school children. Recommendations are provided for the planned integration of videos as part of instructional design, teacher training, and further research combining quantitative and qualitative measurements

Abstract

Bullying in elementary schools is a persistent issue that significantly affects students’ psychological well-being, social interaction, and academic development. This study aims to identify the various forms of bullying occurring in elementary school settings, analyze their impact on students’ learning development, and describe the roles of teachers and the school environment in preventing and addressing bullying behavior. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method through a literature review of scientific articles and research findings published in recent years. The analysis reveals that physical, verbal, and psychological bullying can lead to emotional disturbances such as anxiety, low self-esteem, and stress, which subsequently reduce students’ learning motivation and academic performance. Furthermore, the presence of bullying disrupts the school climate, making the learning environment unsafe and less conducive for healthy social interaction. Teachers play a crucial role in early detection, intervention, and the creation of an inclusive and empathetic school culture. Therefore, collaborative efforts among teachers, schools, and parents are essential to establish a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment that fosters students’ holistic development.

Abstract

This research aims to comprehensively analyze the learning difficulties and problems experienced by primary school students, taking into account a range of internal and external factors, and to propose effective strategies for teachers to overcome them. A library research method was employed by reviewing national journals, articles, and other scientific publications issued between 2018–2024. The results reveal that learning difficulties particularly in mathematics and other core subjects stem from cognitive limitations, underdeveloped fine motor skills, low learning interest and motivation, and mismatched learning styles, as well as external factors such as ineffective teaching methods, less supportive learning environments, unstructured teaching materials, and limited use of learning media. To address these challenges, teachers are encouraged to apply innovative and contextual learning approaches, utilize concrete and interactive media, provide scaffolding and individualized support, and create engaging classroom environments that link learning to students’ real-life experiences. These strategies are expected to enhance students’ motivation, comprehension, and academic achievement at the primary school level.

Abstract

Educational facilities and infrastructure play a crucial role in supporting the success of the learning process in elementary schools. Facilities include learning tools and media, while infrastructure refers to classrooms, libraries, laboratories, and other supporting facilities. The availability of adequate facilities and infrastructure can enhance students’ comfort, motivation, and learning outcomes. Conversely, limited resources may hinder teachers’ performance, reduce students’ learning enthusiasm, and widen educational quality gaps. Therefore, improving the quality of facilities and infrastructure through equitable distribution, proper maintenance, and collaborative efforts is essential to ensure an effective, efficient, and enjoyable learning process.

Abstract

Aging is commonly perceived as a phase of decline characterized by physical deterioration and age-related stigma, which increases psychosocial vulnerability among older adults. This study aimed to explore the meaning of aging among older adults in Kampung Naga by examining the role of local wisdom in shaping physical, psychological, social, and spiritual well-being. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving four participants, including early elderly, late elderly, the oldest-old, and a cultural leader. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings revealed four interconnected themes: physical–ecological harmony, emotional–spiritual harmony, social–communal harmony, and cultural harmony as the foundation of aging meaning. Older adults in Kampung Naga perceive aging as a natural, dignified, and meaningful life process characterized by acceptance, interconnectedness, and social respect. Cultural values such as hirup sauyunan, silih asih–silih asah–silih asuh, and narima strengthen psychological resilience and sustain social participation. Minimal ageism and strong communal support contribute to a positive aging experience. These findings highlight the significant role of local wisdom in fostering healthy and meaningful aging within Indigenous communities.

Abstract

The rapid development of technology demands teachers to be creative and innovative in the learning process. Optimal use of technology-based learning media is an effective strategy to improve the quality of learning and student engagement. This study aims to improve descriptive text listening skills through the use of interactive Canva Edu media in sixth-grade students of SD Negeri 2 Sedayu in the 2025/2026 academic year. This study uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach which is implemented in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 15 students. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, learning achievement tests, student response questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis used qualitative analysis of the Miles and Huberman model and quantitative analysis to calculate the average and percentage of learning completeness. The results of the study showed an increase in student activity and learning outcomes. In the first cycle, the average score was 66.17 with learning completeness of 20%, while in the second cycle the average score increased to 90.37 with learning completeness reaching 93.33%. Thus, the use of interactive Canva Edu media has proven effective in improving the listening skills of descriptive texts of grade VI students at SD Negeri 2 Sedayu.

Abstract

Language plays a crucial role as the primary means of communication in human life. One of the language skills that students must master is listening, as this skill is fundamental to understanding spoken information. However, based on observations in sixth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Sudimoro, students' listening skills are still relatively low. This is indicated by the low average class score, which has not yet reached the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM), and the limited use of conventional learning media. Therefore, innovative, engaging learning media that aligns with technological developments are needed, one of which is the use of mini podcasts. This study aims to determine the effect of using mini podcasts on the Indonesian language listening skills of sixth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Sudimoro in the 2025/2026 academic year. This study used a quantitative approach with an experimental research type, namely a pre-experimental design in the form of a One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The study subjects were 24 students. Data collection used a test method, while data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistics using the t-test. The results of the study showed an increase in students' listening skills, which was marked by an increase in the average score from 66.25 in the pretest to 83.13 in the posttest. The t-test results showed a calculated t value of 7.07 which was greater than the t table of 2.06 at a significance level of 0.05, so it can be concluded that the use of mini podcast media had a significant effect on improving the Indonesian listening skills of sixth-grade students of SD Negeri 1 Sudimoro.
