Abstract

Learning resources in primary schools have not fully utilized digital technology. Effective learning resources can increase students' knowledge and learning activities. This research aims to produce learning resources in the form of flash flipbooks that are valid, practical, and effective for improving digital literacy of elementary school students. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) by applying the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). The subjects of this study were fourth grade students in the 2023/2024 school year as many as 27 students. Data were collected through interviews, product validation questionnaires, student response questionnaires, and digital literacy tests. The results showed that flash flipbooks are very valid for use in learning in elementary schools after going through a validation process by media experts, material experts, and practitioners. One to one and small group trials show that flash flipbooks are very practical to use. In addition, the results of the field trial showed an increase in digital literacy with a moderate category. Overall, flash flipbook products can be used in learning with a very feasible, practical category, and can improve digital literacy of elementary school students.

Abstract

Inclusive education is a strategic approach that aims to ensure that all learners, including those with special needs, receive equal and quality education services in regular schools. Although it has become an important part of the education system in many countries, the implementation of inclusive education faces various challenges, such as limited resources, lack of teacher competence and less than optimal collaborative support from all stakeholders. This study conducted a systematic review of strategies, approaches and best practices that have been implemented to optimize the implementation of inclusive education in regular schools. The results emphasize the need to strengthen ongoing teacher training, increase collaboration among stakeholders and implement adaptive and innovative learning strategies. The implications of these results suggest the importance of developing policies that support continuous training and enforcing closer collaboration at the school and community levels. Strategic recommendations include increasing teachers' capacity through continuous training, using inclusive learning strategies and varied media, and a comprehensive evaluation system. The findings are expected to serve as a reference for educators, policy makers and school managers in designing and implementing effective and sustainable inclusive education policies.

Abstract

This study explores students' numeracy ability in solving mathematical word problems. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method was employed to provide an in-depth depiction of students' numeracy levels. The research utilized a case study design involving 16 eighth-grade students from a junior high school in Bandung City as subjects. Data collection techniques included a numeracy test to measure students' ability to solve mathematical word problems and interviews to validate the test results and further investigate students' thought processes. The findings revealed a variation in students' numeracy ability. A total of 25% of the students (4 students) had low numeracy ability, while 37.5% (6 students) demonstrated moderate numeracy ability, and 37.5% (6 students) showed high numeracy ability. Additionally, the average numeracy score was 70.625, indicating that, overall, students' numeracy ability falls into the 'good' category. These findings underscore the importance of implementing learning approaches that support the development of numeracy, particularly in the context of mathematical word problems.

Abstract

In response to current educational needs, researchers have identified the importance of integrating innovative learning media, specifically augmented reality (AR) technology. This study aims to develop an augmented reality–based educational game, inspirational figure game, to support learning in Social Sciences. The game is designed for Android devices, published via the Play Store, and includes a scannable barcode to assist teachers in classroom implementation. The application presents 4D images and animations with motion, enhancing students’ understanding of historical content through interactive educational games tailored to specific topics. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach, utilizing the Lee & Owens development model, which includes five phases: Assessment/Analysis, Needs Assessment, Front-End Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The results indicate that the inspirational figure game, integrated into a teaching module, is highly valid and suitable for history-based Social Science instruction at the elementary school level. Validation was conducted through expert reviews in media and subject content, as well as student trials. Furthermore, the study demonstrates potential for improving students’ creative thinking skills, suggesting the model’s continued application and further exploration in future research.

Abstract

Sufism moral education plays an important role in shaping the character of students, especially in Islamic universities. The era of digital disruption presents a major challenge for the formation of student character, where the widespread use of information and communication technology can affect moral and ethical values. This study aims to analyze the role of Sufism moral education in strengthening the character of students at the State Islamic University of Kiai Haji Achmad Siddiq Jember (UIN KHAS Jember) amidst rapid digital developments. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, which involves in-depth interviews and observations of students and lecturers at UIN KHAS Jember. The results of the study indicate that Sufism moral education can increase spiritual awareness, self-control, and ethical attitudes of students in interacting in cyberspace. However, its application still needs strengthening, especially in aligning Sufism values with the challenges of the digital era. Therefore, this study also compiles a model of Sufism moral education that is more relevant to the needs of the times, which can be applied in the curriculum at UIN KHAS Jember. This research provides theoretical contributions to Islamic education literature and practical contributions to the development of Sufism-based education curriculum to strengthen students' character.

Abstract

IoT-based plant watering systems offer promising potential as practicum media to integrate technology and environmental sustainability in science education. However, science learning in schools often lacks relevant practicum tools and technology integration. This study aims to develop an IoT-based automatic plant watering system as an innovative, effective, and contextually relevant practicum medium for junior high school science. Employing the Research and Development (R&D) method with a descriptive approach, the study follows iterative stages of design, testing, and refinement to ensure the system's effectiveness and usability. The developed system allows students to monitor and control soil moisture in real-time via a mobile application, providing hands-on experience in applying STEM concepts and promoting awareness of environmental resource management. Results show the system maintains soil moisture within an optimal 40%–60% range, reduces water waste by up to 30%, and improves plant health. This innovation enhances science learning by bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world environmental applications and fostering students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Abstract

This research and development aims to: 1) produce game-based learning media with Educaplay to increase student motivation and participation, 2) test the feasibility and effectiveness of game-based learning media with Educaplay. The research method applied is research and development using the ADDIE Model, which includes needs analysis, content and design planning, media development, implementation, and evaluation .The test subjects in this study were material experts Al Quran Hadith and media experts and students at State Islamic High School 1 Jember. Qualitative data analysis techniques applied in this research are data collection, data condensation, data analysis, and conclusion drawing. The quantitative data is done by: (1) Collecting scores, (2) Calculating Percentages, (3) Interpretation of Percentage Results, (4) Qualitative Analysis of Comments. Based on the results of the validation test by material experts on game-based Al-Qur'an Hadith learning media using Educaplay, a total percentage of 89% was obtained in the “Very Feasible” category. While the results of the validation test by media experts on game-based Al-Qur'an Hadith learning media using Educaplay, it was obtained a total percentage of 93% with the category “Very Feasible”. As for student responses, this game-based Al-Qur'an Hadith learning media is considered very feasible with a percentage of 85% and effective in learning usage. In addition, the experiment done in the class indicated that this media is effective in improving students' understanding of Al Quran Hadith material, as well as being able to increase student engagement and motivation in learning.

Abstract

Students with physical disabilities often face barriers in accessing appropriate early intervention resources within special education settings. This study focuses on addressing the lack of structured and accessible guidebooks designed specifically to support early intervention for these students. The research aimed to develop an early intervention guidebook tailored for students with physical disabilities to enhance the quality and effectiveness of their learning support. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model, this study involved stages of needs analysis, design, development, and evaluation. Data were collected through expert validation and usability testing, analyzed using a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods. The findings indicate that the developed guidebook is highly valid and usable, highlighting its potential as a critical tool to bridge the gap in early intervention resources for students with physical disabilities in special education programs.

Abstract

Local food processing enhances students' creativity and helps preserve and utilize local resources sustainably. The focus of this study is to determine students' ability to design and produce local food products through project-based learning. The research used validation studies that include preparing for the experiment, design experiment, and retrospective analysis. Respondents were 22 students in fourth semesters in the Biology Education Study Program, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Hamzanwadi University. Data collection techniques using worksheets based project with indicators for design project: problem, solution, objective, procedure and product. Data analysis techniques using Gain product design assessment and Cohen's d test. The results of product planning for each group show medium and high categories, increasing creative thinking for each planning indicator, namely problems (0.7), solutions (0.8), objectives (0.7), tools and materials (1), and work methods (1). For the learning effects provided, based on the results of the Cohen's d test, project-based learning shows a large effect for all indicators in compiling environmental plans (1.8), solutions (2.6), objectives (1.6), tools and materials (2.6), and work methods (3.6). Based on the results of the product design gain and Cohen's d effect test, it can be concluded that students are able to design fermented products and project-based learning has a very good impact on the development of creativity and new concepts in processing local food into fermented food products that have useful tastes, shapes, and presentations.

Abstract

Teacher education should foster both scientific literacy and environmental attitudes, which can be enhanced through the use of technology-based learning media. This research aims to develop a herpetofauna mobile learning based on a natural experience approach to improve science literacy and environmental attitudes teacher candidates. The research method used Research and Development with Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate (4-D) models. The research subjects were biology teacher candidates, in Lubuklinggau City, South Sumatra. The instruments for this research were material and media expert validation sheets, response questionnaires, essay questions for science literacy aspects of content and context, attitude questionnaires, and scientific process skills observation sheets. Validation data was analysed with percentage, responses were analysed descriptively, and science literacy was assessed with N-gain. Percentage analysis resulted in the validation of material experts in the medium category, and media experts in the high category. The responses for the student trials were positive. N-gain science literacy aspects of content, context, and process skills were in the high category, while science literacy in the attitude aspect was in the medium category. It can be concluded that the herpetofauna mobile learning based on natural the experience approach can increase the science literacy of teacher candidates.
