Abstract

This study aims to examine various aspects of elections in Indonesia, encompassing electoral design, the application of information technology, budget allocation, and various issues in the 2019 General Election and the 2020 Election, with the objective of reflecting and evaluating the implementation of the 2024 General Election. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach and descriptive analysis, where primary data were collected through in-depth interviews with stakeholders involved in the general elections and regional elections, as well as through observations and documentation studies. The results indicate that a lack of focus on law enforcement aspects during the legislative process is the primary cause of these issues. Furthermore, several norms were identified as being less practical when applied in the field. These findings underscore the need for clarification and harmonization in Indonesia's election legislation.

Abstract

This study delves into the challenges and issues arising from asymmetrical democracy in Indonesia, focusing on local political dynamics in regions such as Aceh, Papua, Jakarta, and Yogyakarta (DIY). Through qualitative analysis, researchers assessed how political autonomy and hierarchical administrative structures influence checks and balances within local institutions. In Aceh and Papua, significant issues were identified concerning the perception of political autonomy by regents and mayors, which contrasts with special laws designating the governor as the primary authority. Both regions highlight how historical conflicts and separatist aspirations shape governance structures and local democratic management. Jakarta, with its unique model, demonstrates how the governor's exclusive power at the provincial level can impact inter-governmental interactions and local interests. Meanwhile, in Yogyakarta, the sultan's dominance as governor raises questions about the quality of local democracy and the potential safeguarding of the sultan's interests. These findings underscore the urgent need for stringent checks and balances and clear delineation of authority to ensure effective local governance amidst the challenges of asymmetrical democracy in Indonesia.

Bira Beach, renowned for its pristine coastal beauty, has witnessed fluctuating tourism trends over the years. Ensuring sustainable tourism development, which balances economic benefits, environmental protection, and socio-cultural integration, necessitates effective governance mechanisms. Digital marketing communication strategies have emerged as instrumental in shaping this governance. Through a qualitative approach encompassing interviews, surveys, and digital data analytics, this study explores (1) the existing digital communication practices in promoting Bira Beach, (2) stakeholders' perceptions about the effectiveness of these practices, and (3) the influence of these strategies on tourism governance frameworks and decisions. Preliminary findings suggest that well-structured digital communication campaigns can enhance stakeholder participation, foster transparent decision-making, and drive sustainable tourism policies. Abstract

The drop in world oil prices, especially in 2014, caused Venezuela to experience a crisis. This is because oil is the country's main commodity and 95% of Venezuela's exports come from oil commodities. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method. By using the theory of International Political Economy, International Organization, and Price Liberalization, the author tries to find out the causes of the decline in world oil prices and efforts to stabilize world oil prices in this case OPEC and market mechanisms. The results of this study indicate that Venezuela's financial inability to deal with falling oil prices due to inappropriate government policies such as the Venezuelan Social Program has caused Venezuela to experience an economic crisis. This then causes further impacts in the form of a humanitarian crisis, namely poverty, hunger, unemployment, crime, and an increase in the number of Venezuelan refugees. The series of crises resulted in Venezuela becoming one of the countries that failed to overcome domestic crises.

A smart city is a modern and advanced city that is integrated with digital systems that support convenience and comfort for its residents. Initially, the smart city concept was aimed at developed countries that have adequate infrastructure, but in Indonesia, district or city governments can improvise in its implementation according to the needs and capabilities of local governments. The aim of this research is to analyze the obstacles and strategies for implementing smart cities that are adapted based on the conditions of the Karanganyar Regency area. The research method uses descriptive-qualitative research, which is linked to empirical reality with applicable theory. Data is obtained from journal references, regional regulations, the Karanganyar Regency smart city master plan book, etc. The results show that the journey towards a smart city in Karanganyar Regency has been documented in the 2018–2023 RPJMD, but its implementation is faced with infrastructure (technology), structural (HR and budget), and superstructure (institution and policy) problems.
