Abstract

COVID-19 is an infectious disease which become a pandemic worldwide. Pregnant women are a vulnerable group infected with COVID-19. Ferritin is a marker of increased inflammation associated with the severity of COVID-19. Pregnant women with COVID-19 have a higher mortality than pregnant women without COVID-19. Low ferritin levels during 28-30 weeks of gestation are associated with a low incidence of preeclampsia. This study aims to determine whether there are significant feritin level difference in pregnant women with COVID-19 without and with preeclampsia. This type of research is analytic observational using a cross-sectional study design with retrospective data collection. The results of the study obtained 603 subjects, but only 63 subjects met the inclusion criteria. Pregnant women with COVID-19 without preeclampsia as 36 subjects were randomized thus obtained 27 subjects were pregnant women with COVID-19 without preeclampsia and 27 subjects were pregnant women with COVID-19 accompanied by preeclampsia. Pregnant women with COVID-19 without preeclampsia had a median 66 ng/mL with a minimum value 1 ng/mL and a maximum value 951 ng/mL and pregnant women with COVID-19 accompanied by preeclampsia had a median 55 ng/mL with a minimum value 2 ng/mL and a maximum value 1.112 ng/mL. The conclusion of this study was that there was no significant feritin level difference in pregnant women with COVID-19 without and with preeclampsia with p=0.924.

Abstract

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cause of death in the world. Colorectal cancer was ranked third in Indonesia. Colorectal cancer patients had a statistically significant difference in lymphocyte inflammatory cell values compared to healthy controls. Colorectal cancer patients had much higher lymphocyte inflammatory cell values than healthy controls. Lymphocyte infiltration can provide additional prognostic information for treatment options in some situations. Histopathology is an essential factor in determining the diagnosis, treatment management, and prognosis. Histopathological examination of the degree of differentiation can determine whether a neoplasm is malignant. The prognosis of colorectal cancer depends on the presence or absence of metastases and the degree of differentiation; with a histopathological examination, we can see the spread of inflammatory cell infiltration at the degree of differentiation which can be used to determine the prognosis of colorectal cancer. The normality test results of the p-value of inflammatory lymphocyte cells were <0.001. Correlation data analysis using the rank-spearman test showed p>0.05 in colorectal cancer patients at Ulin Hospital Banjarmasin.

Abstract

The coal mining industry in South Kalimantan can cause heavy metal waste pollution in the aquatic environment if not managed wisely. Cobalt and mercury are heavy metals that can cause disruption of glucose homeostasis which can lead to diabetes mellitus. The toxicity of cobalt and mercury occurs as a result of interactions with proteins associated with diabetes mellitus, namely insulin receptors, PPARγ, protein kinase b and c-reactive protein. This study aims to determine the interaction of heavy metals cobalt and mercury on insulin receptors, PPARγ, protein kinase b and c-reactive protein with PDB ID: 2HR7, 1PRG, 3E87, 1GNH taken from the Protein Data Bank and using the molecular docking website MIB2: Metal Ion-Binding site prediction and modeling server. Docking results were visualized using the Chimera ver 1.16 application. Based on the docking results, it was found that the interaction between cobalt and mercury with insulin receptors, PPARγ, protein kinase b and c-reactive protein. Cobalt has the highest potential to bind to insulin receptors. While mercury has the highest potential to bind to protein kinase b. Mercury binds more strongly to insulin receptors, PPARγ, protein kinase b and c-reactive protein than cobalt. This interaction causes changes in protein conformation that have the potential to inactivate protein function.

Abstract

Physical activity resulting from skeletal muscle contractions will result in energy expenditure from within the body which affects the decrease in triglyceride levels. This study aims to explain the difference in decreasing triglyceride levels before and after 30 minutes of running at moderate intensity in adolescent football players and non-ball players. The study was conducted using a quasi-experimental non-control group design on 15 trained adolescents and 15 untrained adolescents in Banjarmasin. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling method. Triglyceride levels were measured before and after 30 minutes of moderate-intensity running followed by measurements of height and weight in both groups of adolescents. Data analysis used paired t-test (before and after) and unpaired t-test (trained and untrained) and Shapiro Wilk test. The results of the data analysis using Shapiro Wilk were not normally distributed, after which the data was transformed to Log 10. The results of the data analysis showed that there was no significant difference (p=0.786) between the triglyceride levels of youth football players and non-ball players. The results of this study concluded that there was no difference in triglyceride levels in trained and untrained adolescents after 30 minutes of moderate intensity running.

Abstract

Low back pain is a pain that is felt in the lower back area, with various variations of the duration of the pain. This pain is localized below the angle of the last rib to the lumbar region, which can cause movement limitations in the lumbosacral joints. The causes of low back pain can be caused by musculoskeletal diseases, psychological disorders, and incorrect mobilization. This study aims to determine the differences in the effectiveness of the william’s flexion exercise and the mckenzie exercise on changes in pain and the range of motion of the lumbosacral joints in mechanical low back pain in review patients at Ulin General Hospital, Banjarmasin. This study used a quasi-experimental research design with a two group pretest-posttest design with an approach through direct observation and interviews with respondents at Ulin Hospital, Banjarmasin, on 23 samples that met the inclusion criteria. The results of this study indicated that there was a decrease in the pain scale (VAS) in group I (william flexion exercise) with a value of p = 0.03 and group II (mckenzie exercise) with p = 0.02, which means there is a significant difference. Whereas in ROM groups I and II the value of p = 0.317 which means there is no significant difference. For differences in the effectiveness of groups I and II, p = 0.795 on VAS and p = 0.606 on ROM, which means there is no significant difference between them.
