Abstract

The cause of death of people with HIV/AIDS (ODHA) is not only caused by immunodeficiency factors but also caused by the influence of stigma or social discrimination received, resulting in psychosocial disorders on motivation and quality of life. This study aims to determine the perspective of PLHIV on psychosocial disorders due to discrimination and stigma received and its impact. This research is a qualitative research with a field research design. Data collection using Focus Group Discussion and in-depth interviews involving 18 informants at Yayasan Pelangi Maluku. The impact of psychosocial disorders is experienced as a decrease in the quality and motivation of life. Decreased quality of life was reported by informants, including poor social relationships, problems accepting HIV status, and anger of PLHIV towards themselves. The decrease in motivation to live with PLHIV is reflected in the unwillingness to seek treatment, suicidal ideation, and the desire to transmit HIV. This study showed the existence of psychosocial disorders with a large impact on the motivation and quality of life of PLHIV. This shows the importance of psychosocial assistance to PLHIV through continuous education for families and communities to reduce stigma and discrimination and its impact on PLHIV.

Abstract

Food labels give information about the elements of the food and can help people make healthy diet choices. Food labels are potential tools for improving the dietary patterns of populations and could change dietary behavior. The aims of this study were to assess the knowledge and attitude of consumers related to FOPL, evaluate the practices of consumers regarding FOPL, and identify consumers' purchasing preferences for packaged food. A cross-sectional study was conducted at selected supermarkets in Gandhinagar city using a convenient sampling method. A total of 500 participants were selected from 4 supermarkets (125 participants were selected from each supermarket). Exit interviews were done through pretested, semi-structured questionnaires. Out of 500 participants, 79% read food labels, but only 15% knew about FOPL. 88.2% of people noticed manufacturing and expiration dates on packaged food. Only 50% of the participants thought that FOPL contained nutritional information. 49.4% knew that FOPL was present on the front side of package food. 90% of people consume Namkeen food as packaged food. 59.4% thought that FOPL helped them choose healthier food, and 73% thought it should be mandatory on all food packages. Education level is significantly related to knowledge and information on the FOPL (P = 0.0001). Education programmes about nutrition labeling and how to read nutrition labels properly must be done to increase consumers' awareness, knowledge, and understanding of the importance of nutrition labeling information. It can be an effective means of helping consumers make healthier food choices and prevent NCDs.

Abstract

Thalassemia is a disease that attacks the hemoglobin gene, causing disturbances in erythropoiesis. Anemia is a condition in which the hemoglobin (Hb) concentration and the number of erythrocytes are below normal limits. The high number of anemia and thalassemia causes the need for early detection in order to prevent adverse effects in the future. Research objectives: to determine nutritional status, anemia status, and application of the Mentzer Index for SMK Muhammadiyah II Moyudan students. Methods: This study is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. The research subjects were first graders at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Moyudan. Venous blood samples were examined at the Clinical Pathology Laboratory of FK-KMK UGM using the Sysmex XN-1000 tool on November 25, 2021. Data analysis used IBM SPSS Version 26 and Microsoft Office 365. Results: A total of 53 subjects participated in this study. A total of 47 (89%) respondents had normal hemoglobin values, and 6 (11%) respondents suffered from anemia. 31 (58.5%) respondents have normal nutrition, 15 (28%) respondents have less nutrition, 7 (13%) have excess nutrition, and 29 (54.7%) respondents have normal status. A total of 2 (3.8%) respondents showed Thalassemia. Conclusion: There are two students of SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Moyudan diagnosed with thalassemia and five students diagnosed with anemia. No statistically significant difference exists between Anemia Status in Adolescents at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Moyudan and Nutritional Status. Further study is needed in wider and more diverse populations to analyze the influence of nutritional conditions on anemia in adolescents.

Abstract

The MSCT urography examination requires patient preparation, such as fasting and drinking water. In addition, some hospitals use water, furosemide to accelerate the increase in urine volume. However,Furosemide is a chemical diuretic that is feared to increase the workload of the kidneys. So a natural alternative is needed, namely black tea. This study aims to determine the effect of black tea as an alternative diuretic on the urography MSCT examination. This is quasi-experimental research conducted at RSUD by Dr. Soehadi Prijonegoro Sragen,Central Java. Respondents in this study consisted of 18 outpatients with an MSCT urography examination. These respondents were divided into three groups, namely the group of mineral water, furosemide, and black tea, and three radiology doctors. The scanning process uses MSCT 128 Slice and then tracks MSCT urography with the Curved Multiplanar Reconstruction (MPR) application.Data obtained from observations, questionnaires, and interviews with radiologists was then processed and analyzed using quantitative methods.Normal distributed data was analyzed using the ANOVA test. The results showed a significant difference from the assessment of kidney HU,liver HU, and ureteral dilatation in the mineral water, furosemide, and black tea test groups with sig values.<0.05.Black tea increases Hounsfield Unit (HU) values in the kidneys, lungs, liver, and ureteral dilation, as a tracking picture shown in the Curved Multiplanar Reconstruction(MPR) application. This confirms that black tea can be used as a natural diuretic alternative for some reasons:effective, fast, easy, and inexpensive. It makes it easier to track kidney stones. The operation of curved multiplanar reconstruction(MPR) applications during reconstruction can display more optimal image results to support more accurate diagnostic information.

Abstract

The mortality rate among adult hospital patients is a significant indicator in assessing the quality of care and health services. High mortality rates can affect a hospital's reputation, reduce the credibility of medical personnel, and trigger public anxiety. Failure to recognize the worsening of a patient's condition can delay appropriate life support management. This scoping review aims to identify and analyze the Early Warning Score (EWS) application for adults with risk factors for death in regional general hospitals (RSUD). The scoping review was conducted by searching literature using electronic databases from January 2018-May 2023, such as PubMed, ScienceDirect, LibMed UGM, and hand searching. Relevant articles were selected based on inclusion criteria. The results contained two main themes: factors related to mortality in adult patients and the benefits of implementing EWS on the clinical outcomes of adult patients. Implementing EWS in adult patients with high-risk factors for mortality at Regional General Hospitals can help identify the worsening of the patient's condition early, reducing the risk of death. Increasing awareness of the importance of EWS, EWS training, and consistent use of EWS according to hospital protocols can help reduce mortality and improve overall patient clinical outcomes.
