Abstract

The development of digital technology has encouraged the world of education to adapt to various learning innovations, including in Islamic Education (PAI) subjects. One of the improvement efforts made by teachers is the use of interactive educational games that are able to present religious material in an interesting and contextual way. This study aims to describe the implementation of digitalization of PAI learning through interactive educational game media. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses a tematic model. The results of the study show that the use of interactive educational games can increase student learning motivation, facilitate understanding of religious material, and create a dynamic, communicative and collaborative learning environment. Instant feedback provided through the educational game platform helps students correct their mistakes quickly and increases active participation in class. The integration of interactive game-based learning models in PAI lessons is unique amidst the rampant conventional methods used by teachers. This proves that digital media is not only relevant for general subjects, but is also effective in transforming religious teaching methods to be more contextual and preferred by digital generation students.

Abstract

Research The santri identity crisis is a phenomenon that arises due to the conflict between traditional pesantren values and modern social dynamics. Many santri experience confusion in determining their identity, especially when they have to balance between the religious values taught in pesantren and modern social demands such as the influence of social media and the expectations of the outside community. This phenomenon triggers anxiety, stress, and decreased motivation to learn. The research aims to identify the main causes of santri identity crisis, analyze how santri adapt to identity conflicts, and identify strategies that can help santri overcome identity confusion. The research used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach with semi-structured interviews and participatory observation of santri and dayah administrators. The results showed that many santri are in the moratorium phase, where they experience identity exploration without a strong commitment to one particular identity. External factors such as social pressure, family expectations, and the influence of social media exacerbate santri's identity confusion, forcing them to balance between religious values and modern social norms. To deal with this, Dayah Malikussaleh implements adaptive policies through self-development programs, majlis ta'lim, and psychological guidance. This strategy helps santri navigate the moratorium phase, encouraging a balance between religious education and adaptive skills. This research highlights the importance of a holistic approach in pesantren education to support santri in achieving identity stability amidst dynamic social change.

Abstract

Instilling religious and moral values in early childhood has a crucial role in shaping their character and communication ethics in the future. Facts in our environment state that many communication behaviors do not reflect religious and moral values. This study aims to analyze the implementation of religious and moral values in early childhood communication, as well as to identify supporting and inhibiting factors in the process. The research method uses qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses content analysis techniques, namely identifying themes or patterns that emerge and analyzing them with existing theories. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of religious and moral values in early childhood communication has begun to be applied through the use of polite words, mutual respect, and the habit of saying hello. Teachers and the family environment are the main factors influencing the success of this habit. The obstacles that arise are limited parental involvement due to time constraints and inconsistent implementation of moral values in children. These findings emphasize the importance of synergy between educational institutions, families, and the social environment in instilling religious and moral values in early childhood in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

The phenomenon of ideological radicalism among university students poses a serious challenge to social stability and national integration. Islamic Higher Education Institutions are positioned as the frontline in shaping students’ moderate and tolerant thinking. However, field observations show that some institutions are vulnerable to the spread of radical ideologies. This study aims to analyze the understanding of radicalism that emerges and the role of Islamic educational institutions in addressing radicalism. The research employs a socio-philosophical approach to gain a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the social phenomenon. This is a library research study using sources from national and international journal articles as well as other supporting data. The data analysis technique applied is narrative analysis. The results indicate that radicalism in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand can be divided into two forms: true radicalism and potential radicalism. This is caused by three factors: (1) internal factors, including destructive tendencies within individuals; (2) external factors, such as socio-political pressures; and (3) cultural factors, including rejection of secularism. Islamic Higher Education Institutions have a role in minimizing radicalism through two approaches: (1) structural approaches, including conducting inter-campus dialogues, supervising academic processes, and establishing radicalism prevention bodies within campuses; and (2) cultural approaches, such as curriculum reformulation/adaptation, syllabus reorientation, and reorientation of the tridharma (three main duties) of higher education institutions.

Abstract

TikTok has now become one of the most influential social media platforms in the dissemination of religious content. Supported by artificial intelligence, TikTok's algorithm can automatically adjust and recommend religious content to users based on their preferences and interaction patterns. This study aims to analyze the role of TikTok's algorithm in influencing the consumption of religious content from the users' perspective while examining it through the lens of prophetic character. The research employs a qualitative approach and secondary data analysis from academic literature. The findings indicate that TikTok's algorithm plays a dual role: as a facilitator in the dissemination of religious messages and as a factor that may introduce algorithmic bias in religious content exposure. From the perspective of prophetic character, it is crucial to assess how this algorithm contributes to the spread of authentic and moderate Islamic values while reducing potential distortions in religious understanding. Therefore, more ethical strategies are needed in utilizing TikTok's algorithm to ensure alignment with religious principles and sustainable spiritual education.

Abstract

Learning Kitab Kuning is a characteristic of traditional Islamic boarding school education which has an important role in preserving the classical Islamic knowledge. However, in its implementation, especially at the ibtida' level, various obstacles are often found that hinder learning activities. This study aims to identify the problems faced in the yellow book reading method in Islamic Boarding Schools, especially at the ibtida' level, and to analyze the causal factors and their impact on the learning achievements of students. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that The results of the study show that there are 4 (four) dynamics of the Kitab Kuning reading method, including (1) low basic Arabic language competency of students and a linguistic system that contrasts with Indonesian; (2) low motivation to learn of students, (3) limited quantity of teacher, and (4) there is no standardization of standard Kitab Kuning learning methods, especially at the Ibtida' level. This study recommends the need for innovation in teaching methods that are more communicative and interactive from teacher, as well as full support from the Islamic boarding school institution to be able to answer the dynamics of the Kitab Kuning reading method.

Abstract

Student engagement is a crucial component of effective learning. A token economy is one strategy that can be utilized to enhance student learning engagement. This study aimed to investigate the difference in average student engagement between an experimental class using a token economy and a control class in Aqidah Akhlak (Islamic Creed and Morals) subject at MTs Hasan Muchyi Kediri. It also sought to determine the magnitude of this difference. This quantitative quasi-experimental study employed a posttest-only control group design. Two classes were selected as research samples: a control class and an experimental class that implemented a token economy. Data were collected using questionnaires and token recording documentation. The questionnaire data were then analyzed using an independent-samples t-test. The results indicate that the use of a token economy significantly impacts student engagement. This conclusion is supported by a significance value of 0.02 < 0.05, demonstrating a significant difference in the average student engagement between the experimental and control classes. The test results also revealed that the average student engagement in the control class was lower than in the experimental class, with a difference of 3.37. Thus, there is a significant difference in the average engagement of seventh-grade students in Aqidah Akhlak at MTs Hasan Muchyi Kediri between the experimental class using a token economy and the control class, with the experimental class exhibiting higher average engagement.

Abstract

Instilling environmental character in early childhood is an important foundation in forming a generation that cares about environmental sustainability. This article aims to examine how the synergy of Islamic communication between parents and teachers plays a strategic role in building environmental character in early childhood. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews and documentation. Research data are analyzed using an interactive model. The results of the study indicate that Islamic communication patterns that are consistently applied by parents and teachers—based on values such as compassion, role models, wise advice, and strengthening Qur'anic morals—are able to shape children's awareness of the importance of protecting and loving the environment. Harmonious collaboration between the family and school environments is key to creating an educational atmosphere that supports the formation of this character. The synergy of Islamic communication not only strengthens the relationship between adults and children, but also becomes an effective means of building children's ecological awareness from an early age. This approach is in line with Aristotle's eudaimonia thinking and Ibn Miskawaih's educational ethics. This study recommends strengthening communication collaboration between schools and families, integrating Islamic teachings into environmental education, and developing an ecological character education model based on spiritual values as a real contribution to building environmental awareness from an early age.
