Abstract

Perineal tears affect approximately 85% of women during childbirth, with 60-70% requiring sutures. These tears are common in nearly all vaginal deliveries, highlighting the need for effective preventive strategies, such as perineal massage. This community service project aimed to enhance the health outcomes of pregnant and birthing women by reducing the incidence of perineal rupture during childbirth. The project involved educational sessions on perineal massage and hands-on training. Conducted in August and September 2023 at the Mantrijeron Health Center in Yogyakarta, the program included 25 participants. The results of the Community Service Program (PKM) showed that the characteristics of the respondents were mostly in the healthy reproductive age category (96%), primigravida parity (56%), third trimester (60%), and had never done perineal massage (96%). There was an increase in knowledge about perineal massage before and after the training of 20,800, with a p-value of 0.0002, which means that perineal massage training was effective in increasing the knowledge and skills of pregnant women. The conclusion of this PkM activity is that perineal massage training is effective in increasing the knowledge and skills of pregnant women.

Abstract

Pregnant women experience physical and psychological changes that can cause discomfort. Physical changes experienced by pregnant women include changes in blood volume, abdominal enlargement, breast enlargement, skin changes to become darker, changes in the respiratory tract so that the mother feels short of breath, hormonal changes and the digestive tract that cause nausea and vomiting and constipation. Efforts that can be made are to provide health education on preventing or treating back pain in pregnant women, one of which is pregnancy gymnastics, including transverse exercises, pelvic floor exercises, and general stretching. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide an understanding to pregnant women about the changes that occur, so that pregnant women do not experience unexpected problems. This community service activity was carried out at the Labuapi Health Center, which was attended by 26 people. The results of this community service were an increase in mothers' knowledge about physical changes by 90%, thereby reducing the occurrence of unexpected problems. Conclusion With knowledge about physical changes, pregnant women can take steps to control or minimize their negative impacts. Counseling can help pregnant women overcome physical discomfort that often occurs, such as back pain or leg cramps, by using various relaxation techniques or pregnancy gymnastics. By understanding the various physical changes, pregnant women can prepare themselves mentally and physically for the labor process, including knowing the signs of labor and how to deal with pain during labor.

Abstract

Inkes Yarsi Mataram is one of the private health universities in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province that attracts teenagers from both inside and outside Lombok island. Adolescents who are away from parental supervision are more likely to have risky dating behaviour than students who live with their parents. From the results of research conducted in March 2024 on Inkes Yarsi Mataram students, it showed concerns about negative dating behaviour. Based on these problems, community service activities are needed in the form of counseling which includes pretesting adolescents' knowledge and attitudes, providing education through counseling and discussion about toxic relationships in adolescents conducted for two meetings, and ending with a post-test evaluation. After the counselling was carried out during April-May 2025, it was found that there was an increase in students' knowledge and attitudes after being given counselling on toxic teenage relationships. There needs to be a continuation of service by strengthening Islamic material as a form of implementation of Inkes Yarsi Mataram's goal of producing health workers who are morally good.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most common non-communicable diseases and often goes undetected until it leads to serious complications. In Indonesia, the prevalence of hypertension reaches 34.1%, with most sufferers unaware of their condition. Low awareness and limited family skills-especially among housewives-in managing hypertension is a major contributing factor. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of housewives in managing hypertension within the family setting. The program was implemented in Banyakan Village, Kediri Regency, involving 15 housewives as participants. The methods included socialization, education on hypertension, training on preparing low-sodium menus based on the DASH diet, and the introduction of simple relaxation techniques. Pre-test and post-test evaluations showed an increase in average scores from 46.7 to 80.7. Furthermore, all participants stated that the program was beneficial and enriched their understanding. These results indicate that family-based education is effective in supporting hypertension control. This initiative is expected to contribute to the adoption of healthy lifestyles within families and support national programs such as GERMAS.

Abstract

The quality of nursing care is one of the factors that influence the image of a hospital in the community. Nursing care begins as soon as a patient is admitted to the hospital. The admission of new patients involves receiving new patients and their families at the nursing care unit. The objective of this community service activity is to optimise the implementation of new patient orientation in the ward, with a programme that is carried out in accordance with the root causes of the existing problems. This activity was carried out by lecturers and students from the Nursing Professional Education Programme, Faculty of Health Sciences, Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University, Malang. The community service activity was conducted at Hospital X in Blitar, East Java. The steps in this community service activity are as follows: Identifying issues and needs of the partner through Focus Group Discussions (FGD), implementing and evaluating the programme according to the partner's needs. The outcomes of this community service activity include the development of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for New Patient Admission, the implementation of SOP socialisation, and the implementation of the new patient admission process in accordance with procedures. Evaluation results showed an average increase of 36% in the implementation of the new patient admission process before and after SOP socialisation. Recommendations for the future include proposing the SOP to the hospital authorities and using media such as booklets or videos for new patient admission, as well as the need for continuous monitoring and evaluation to assess its effectiveness.

Abstract

Health education about anemia needs to be conducted because cases of anemia among adolescents continue to occur. The adolescent phase is a time that is vulnerable to health risks because during this phase, there is rapid body development that requires adequate nutritional sources. However, these nutritional needs are often neglected by adolescents, which can lead to various health problems, such as the incidence of anemia among teenagers. Adolescent girls are also a population that has a higher risk of anemia compared to boys, because during this time adolescent girls experience menstruation and have a desire to stay slim, leading them to diet and reduce food intake, which affects their nutritional fulfillment. Objective: to increase the knowledge of female students about anemia. The evaluation activity was conducted twice, before and after the education. Results: there was an effect on the level of knowledge of the students before and after the education with a p-value of 0.000. This indicates that the counseling was successful. Abstract

The population in Indonesia continues to increase until in 2018 it reached 263 million people. Unmet need for family planning is one of the obstacles to the management of family planning programmes in Indonesia that requires continuous handling. Unmet need has a high potential for unwanted pregnancies (KTD). Sumberrahayu Village is a small village in the Limbangan sub-district that has 137 PUS. Of the 137 PUS, only 90 PUS have family planning, and 47 PUS do not have family planning. Based on these problems, this community service aims to convert unmet need MHJP centres into MHJP family planning acceptors. The service began with identification of PUS, pretest of PUS knowledge about MHJP, followed by counselling with ABPK media, post-test of PUS knowledge, installation of MHJP alkon. All unmet need PUS were willing to become MHJP acceptors, namely the installation of MKJP contraceptives. After the installation of MHJP, all PUS did not experience any side effects after the installation of MKJP contraceptives. It is expected that health workers will increase intensive and maximum counselling to PUS unmet need.
