Abstract

This study aims to describe the perception of grade 2 elementary school students towards mathematics learning from the cognitive, affective, and conative dimensions. The research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The subject of the study was a grade 2 student at a public elementary school in West Lombok Regency. Data collection techniques were carried out through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and student perception questionnaires. The data was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that most students have a positive perception of mathematics learning if the material is delivered in a concrete, contextual, and fun manner. On the cognitive dimension, students understand mathematics as a useful subject in everyday life, although some of the material is still considered difficult. In the affective dimension, students show a sense of joy when learning using games and interesting media, but some students still experience anxiety when facing problems that are considered complicated. In the conative dimension, students with positive perceptions tend to be more active in learning mathematics. Factors that affect student perception include teachers' teaching methods, the use of learning media, and family support. The findings of the study confirm the importance of learning mathematics that is concrete, interactive, and in accordance with the developmental characteristics of elementary school students in the lower grades.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has transformed the way younger generations build their identities, interact socially, and engage in global communication. In Indonesia, the high use of the internet and social media among adolescents has not been accompanied by adequate competencies in digital ethics, critical literacy, and online safety. The National Digital Literacy Index indicates that Indonesia’s digital literacy remains at a moderate level, particularly in the areas of digital ethics and digital safety. In addition, adolescents are vulnerable to misinformation and digital manipulation, highlighting the need for educational interventions based on ethics and digital responsibility. This Community Service Program aims to improve digital literacy and ethical social media practices among students of SMK 47 Jakarta Selatan through collaboration with Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. The program was implemented through workshops, interactive discussions, and pre-test and post-test evaluations. The results showed improvements in students’ understanding of digital ethics, information verification, responsible social media behavior, and digital safety. The program also strengthened institutional collaboration at the ASEAN level and produced an ethics-based digital literacy educational module for vocational school students

Abstract

Diagnostic assessment is an important part of the implementation of the Independent Curriculum because it functions to identify the initial abilities, learning needs, and characteristics of students before the learning process is implemented. However, the implementation of diagnostic assessments in elementary schools still faces various obstacles, such as the limitations of interactive, efficient, and easy-to-analyze instruments. This article aims to examine the use of Quizzy as a digital diagnostic assessment instrument in primary education. The research uses a systematic literature review method with a qualitative descriptive approach through searching for accredited scientific articles on Google Scholar, SINTA, and Garuda published in the 2021–2025 range. The results of the study show that Quizzy has significant potential in supporting cognitive and non-cognitive diagnostic assessments through gamification features, instant feedback, and automated data analytics that make it easier for teachers to map students' learning abilities and needs. In addition to increasing the effectiveness of diagnostic data collection, the use of Quizzy is also able to increase the motivation, participation, and active involvement of elementary school students during the assessment process. However, the implementation of Quizzy still faces challenges in the form of limited technology infrastructure and teachers' digital competencies. Therefore, support for training and the development of digital facilities is needed so that the use of Quizzy as a diagnostic assessment instrument can run optimally in elementary schools.

Abstract

The increasing use of standardized service agreements in the hospitality industry has intensified reliance on exoneration clauses as mechanisms for allocating legal risks and limiting liability. While such clauses are generally justified under the principle of freedom of contract, their application may undermine contractual justice when bargaining positions are unequal. This study examines the legal regulation, characteristics, and implementation of exoneration clauses in hospitality service agreements under Indonesian contract law and evaluates their compatibility with the principles of balance, good faith, and fairness. Using normative legal research with statutory, conceptual, and case approaches, legal materials were analyzed through systematic, grammatical, and teleological interpretation. The findings indicate that exoneration clauses are legally permissible provided they do not excessively exclude liability or disrupt contractual equilibrium. However, the examined service agreement demonstrates that limitation of liability and indemnification provisions predominantly transfer legal risks to the local service provider, reflecting a significant bargaining imbalance. The novelty of this study lies in its analysis of contractual justice within business-to-business relationships in the international hospitality sector. The study concludes that freedom of contract must be exercised proportionately to preserve fairness. Future research should undertake comparative studies across jurisdictions and hospitality business models to develop more balanced risk-allocation standards.

Abstract

This qualitative research examines the implementation of ethics in scientific writing and publication practices in higher education institutions to strengthen academic integrity and improve the quality of scholarly publications among university students. Involving 50 students, 4 lecturers, 3 journal reviewers, and 2 academic administrators from the Faculty of Indonesian Language and Literature Education at Universitas Graha Nusantara, the study employed mixed qualitative methods including structured observations (8 academic writing sessions), semi-structured interviews (9 participants), focus group discussions (2 sessions with 30 students), document analysis, plagiarism screening reports, and student reflective journals over a four-month period. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis with open and axial coding procedures to identify patterns in students’ understanding of academic ethics, publication responsibility, and scientific writing practices. Results revealed significant improvements in students’ academic writing ethics across six dimensions: citation and referencing skills (8-student increase to Proficient level), plagiarism awareness (12-student increase), ethical use of research sources (10-student increase), scientific argumentation (Advanced category achievement), publication responsibility (38 students in Advanced category), and academic integrity commitment (5-student progression to Highly Proficient level). Thematic analysis identified six primary themes: increased awareness of academic honesty (24 occurrences), improved scientific writing quality (28 occurrences), responsible publication practices (31 occurrences), ethical challenges in digital academic environments (26 occurrences), collaborative academic supervision (29 occurrences), and implementation barriers in academic writing culture (17 occurrences). The study demonstrates that strengthening ethics education in scientific writing and publication effectively develops students’ academic responsibility while fostering integrity, professionalism, and credibility in higher education environments.

Abstract

Language competence is essential for students’ academic achievement and effective communication. This study aims to identify and analyze language errors in Indonesian language learning and determine the factors contributing to these errors. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed involving 50 students, 3 teachers, 2 school administrators, and 10 parents. Data were collected through observations, interviews, focus group discussions, learning journals, document analysis, and field notes, and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings revealed five categories of language errors: spelling, diction, morphology, syntax, and ineffective sentence construction. Syntactic errors were the most dominant (35%), followed by spelling errors. Contributing factors included local language interference, limited mastery of grammar, low reading habits, insufficient exposure to academic texts, and the influence of social media language. The study also found that literacy-based instruction, intensive writing practice, collaborative learning, and continuous teacher feedback effectively reduced language errors and improved language proficiency. These findings provide valuable implications for developing more effective Indonesian language teaching strategies and strengthening students’ academic literacy skills.

Abstract

Basic English literacy remains a critical challenge for students in underdeveloped regions, particularly for santri (Islamic boarding school students) whose curricula prioritize religious texts over foreign language skills. This qualitative study investigates the design and implementation of a community mentoring program that leverages local linguistic and cultural artifacts to foster foundational English reading, writing, and vocabulary among junior secondary santri in a remote coastal pesantren in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Employing a participatory action research design, data were gathered over sixteen weeks through participant observation, semi-structured interviews with ten santri, three mentors, and two pesantren teachers, analysis of instructional artifacts, and pre-post literacy performance assessments. The mentoring model integrated oral folklore, traditional games, local songs, and everyday objects recontextualized as English learning media. Thematic analysis revealed four interconnected improvements: (1) heightened lexical retention through tangible cultural referents; (2) increased decoding confidence when English graphemes mapped onto locally meaningful narratives; (3) emergent writing competencies scaffolded by collaborative labeling of familiar artifacts; and (4) a transformed affective stance that repositioned English from a foreign threat to a culturally congruent resource. Pre-post assessment data displayed a notable shift from non-reader to word-level decoding for all participants, with 70% advancing to simple sentence construction. The findings suggest that culturally sustaining, artifact-based mentoring can disrupt the symbolic exclusion of English in traditional pesantren while strengthening basic literacy in underserved contexts.

Abstract

Chronic diseases, such as hypertension and diabetes mellitus, present a significant and growing public health burden in many developing regions, including rural Indonesia. Community Health Cadres (CHCs) are pivotal frontline health volunteers, yet they often lack the comprehensive knowledge and practical skills necessary for effective early detection and community-based management of these conditions. This community service program aimed to empower CHCs through an integrated health education intervention, employing a community-based participatory approach. The program was implemented in [Sebutkan Lokasi, misal: five villages in Yogyakarta] over a six-month period and involved 45 CHCs. The intervention comprised a series of structured training workshops, hands-on practice sessions using portable health devices (e.g., digital sphygmomanometers and glucometers), and the development of simple patient-record-keeping tools. The participatory approach ensured that the CHCs were actively involved in identifying local challenges and co-designing feasible solutions. Pre- and post-intervention assessments revealed a statistically significant improvement in the CHCs' knowledge scores (p < 0.001) and their practical competency in conducting basic health screenings. Furthermore, there was a notable increase in the number of community members referred to primary health centers for confirmatory diagnosis. This program demonstrates that empowering CHCs through targeted, integrated education, grounded in participatory principles, is a viable and effective strategy to strengthen primary healthcare systems. It enhances the capacity for early disease detection and promotes sustainable chronic disease management at the grassroots level, underscoring the critical synergy between community education and public health outcomes.

Abstract

Adolescent reproductive health remains a critical public health concern in rural Indonesia, where limited access to accurate information and cultural taboos often hinder open discussion on the topic. In Purbatua PK Village, the prevalence of early marriage and low reproductive health literacy among teenagers have been identified as major challenges. This community service program aimed to empower Posyandu (Integrated Health Post) youth cadres as community-based agents of change to improve reproductive health literacy among adolescents in the village. The program employed a participatory approach consisting of three main stages: (1) needs assessment through focus group discussions with cadres and community leaders, (2) intensive training sessions for 20 youth cadres covering reproductive anatomy, puberty, sexually transmitted infections, contraception, and the legal and psychosocial consequences of early marriage, and (3) ongoing mentoring and peer-education facilitation to enable cadres to disseminate information effectively to their peer groups. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test questionnaires to measure changes in knowledge, as well as observations of cadres' communication skills during peer sessions. Results showed a significant increase in cadres' knowledge scores, from an average of 58.5% in the pre-test to 89.3% in the post-test (p < 0.05). Furthermore, cadres demonstrated improved confidence and communication abilities in delivering sensitive reproductive health topics to their peers. Within three months of the program, peer-education sessions reached over 120 adolescents in the village. This empowerment initiative successfully strengthened local capacity for sustainable reproductive health education, contributing to the prevention of early marriage and the promotion of healthier reproductive behaviors among youth in Purbatua PK Village.
