Abstract

The use of ChatGPT in developing teaching materials can be used to adjust the needs of ESP teaching materials. Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education has brought significant changes, especially in the development of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) materials. This study explores the use of ChatGPT, a generative AI tool, in redesigning and supporting the creation of ESP learning content for health students in higher education. Using a qualitative literature study approach, this study examines the opportunities, benefits, and challenges in implementing ChatGPT in the ESP context. The results of the study indicate that ChatGPT offers several advantages, such as time efficiency in material development, the ability to adjust content to learners' needs, support for interactive and contextual learning, and assistance in the assessment process. However, there are also challenges such as the potential for inaccurate information, limitations in sensitivity to certain areas, and the need for human validation. This study concludes that although ChatGPT cannot replace the role of educators, this technology can be a valuable tool in modern ESP teaching in the health field. Further empirical research is needed to evaluate the long-term impact on students' learning outcomes and professional language competencies.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE) on stock prices of transportation and logistics companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2018–2022 period. A quantitative research method was employed using secondary data derived from audited financial statements. Eight companies were selected using purposive sampling, and data analysis was conducted through multiple linear regression with SPSS 25. The findings indicate that ROA has a significant negative effect on stock prices, while ROE has no significant impact. However, both variables jointly influence stock prices significantly, with an adjusted R² of 0.820, suggesting that 82% of stock price variation can be explained by ROA and ROE. The results highlight the need for investors to consider sector-specific dynamics and for companies to align financial performance with market expectations. This study contributes to the financial literature by providing insights into the stock valuation process in asset-intensive industries and offers practical recommendations for investors, managers, and regulators.

Abstract

This study discusses the role of empowerment communication in enhancing the abilities of deaf-mute individuals at Caffe Lubi in preparing for the world of work. The background of this research is rooted in the ongoing challenges faced by people with disabilities—particularly those who are deaf-mute—in Indonesia, including discrimination and limited access to employment opportunities, despite their significant presence in the national population. This study aims to provide an in-depth description of the empowerment communication processes implemented at Caffe Lubi and their impact on the development of work-related skills and personal independence among deaf-mute individuals. A descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach was employed, focusing on Caffe Lubi. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving three deaf-mute individuals working at the café. The findings reveal that empowerment communication at Caffe Lubi is conducted through two-way interactions between facilitators and persons with disabilities, the use of sign language, and written communication tools. This process has proven effective in improving both soft skills—such as teamwork, time management, and problem-solving—and hard skills, including barista techniques, inventory management, and the use of office software for administrative tasks. The empowerment initiatives at Caffe Lubi not only enhance vocational competencies but also foster self-confidence and independence among deaf-mute individuals, equipping them to adapt in the workplace both as employees and as potential entrepreneurs. This research underscores the importance of inclusive and supportive communication in empowering people with disabilities, ultimately contributing to equal employment opportunities and a more disability-friendly work environment.

Abstract

The role of work motivation in improving the performance of employees of PT. Sorby International Medan is the subject of this research.  This study uses a descriptive qualitative methodology that collects data through documentation, direct observation, and structured interviews. Information consisting of five purposively selected employees from different divisions. The research shows that work motivation, both intrinsic and extrinsic, influences worker performance. While extrinsic motivations such as compensation and incentives increase productivity, intrinsic motivation increases loyalty and morale. Improving overall performance fails due to an uneven reward system and a lack of attention to career development. This research found that motivation that is managed fairly and strategically can improve employee performance. This research suggests that companies create merit-based motivation systems, strengthen communication, and develop sustainable human resource development.

Abstract

The Effect of Adding Natural Ingredients to Artificial Feed on the Color Brightness Level of Goldfish (Cyprinus carpio Linn). This research aims to determine the effect of adding natural ingredients to artificial feed on the level of color brightness of goldfish (Cyprinus carpio Linn), and the growth rate and survival rate of the test fish. The method used in this research is an experimental method using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 3 replications with a feeding frequency of three times per day with a percentage of 5% of the body weight of the test fish, a natural ingredient used in making artificial feed. These are pumpkin flour (Cucurbita moschata), mangosteen rind flour (Garcinia mangostana L), and carrot flour (Daucus carota L) with the same dose in each treatment, namely 25% of 1 kg of feed. Based on the results of variance analysis, the brightness level of goldfish color has a very real influence. The highest increase in the color of the test fish was obtained in treatment A, pumpkin flour, amounting to (1.37) on the Toca color finder scale (from pale orange to dark orange), followed by the second highest in treatment C, carrot flour, amounting to (1.2), treatment B flour. Mangosteen peel was in third position with an increase in color of (0.94) and the lowest increase in color change occurred in treatment D (control = without the addition of natural ingredients) of 0.7. However, absolute weight and length growth did not have a real influence. The overall graduation rate is 87.49%. The average water quality parameters are temperature 26-29oC, pH 7.5-7.9 and ammonia 0.25 ppm.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the therapeutic communication process employed by counselors in providing psychological assistance to domestic violence survivors at Damar Association, Lampung. Therapeutic communication serves as a crucial aspect in helping survivors cope with trauma and rebuild their sense of safety and self-confidence. This research employs a qualitative approach within the constructivist paradigm. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations involving counselors, advocacy staff, and survivors who had received assistance. The results indicate that counselors implement therapeutic communication through four key phases: pre-interaction, orientation, working, and termination. Techniques utilized include active listening, clarification, reflection, information sharing, and supportive non-verbal communication. The success of therapeutic communication is also influenced by the presence of support systems from the survivor's family and social environment.
