Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of translanguaging in Arabic language teaching at the higher education level, focusing on the development of four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The research employed a qualitative method with a case study approach, involving observations and interviews with an instructor teaching an intensive Arabic language program. The findings indicate that translanguaging serves as a significant cognitive strategy in assisting students to understand the structure and vocabulary of the Arabic language, particularly for those with diverse language backgrounds. Students who engaged in translanguaging during their learning process demonstrated significant improvements in their listening and speaking skills, as well as their ability to organize their thoughts more effectively when writing. Furthermore, the study found that the use of a second language as a supportive tool not only enhanced students' comprehension but also increased their engagement in the learning process. Thus, the application of translanguaging in Arabic language teaching at higher education can create a more inclusive and effective learning environment. This research recommends that educational institutions provide training for educators to effectively implement translanguaging in the classroom.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the creative strategies implemented by Arabic language teachers in fostering students' learning interest at MTs Muhammadiyah 05 Kalikuning. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with Arabic language teachers, observations of the learning process in the classroom, and documentation analysis. The results showed that teachers implemented various creative strategies such as a communicative approach, the use of technological learning media, educational games, and group-based learning. This study found that these creative strategies contributed significantly to increasing students' learning interest, which was marked by higher enthusiasm in learning Arabic. However, some students still experienced difficulties due to the complexity of grammar and differences in language structure. This study suggests the need for institutional support in the form of increasing the allocation of learning time and training in the use of educational technology for teachers to further optimize creative learning strategies.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the syntactic structures and stylistic features found in the Al-I'tir?f poem by Abu Nuwas, both in its original Arabic version and its Indonesian translation. The study focuses on two key syntactic structures, namely tark?b ‘athfi (coordinative structure) and tark?b isn?di (predicative structure), exploring how these structures convey spiritual and aesthetic meanings. By employing a contrastive analysis, the research also examines how these syntactic structures transform in the Indonesian translation, preserving or shifting their meaning and stylistic impact. The findings reveal that these syntactic structures play a significant role in the expression of religious humility and repentance, as well as the emotional intensity of the poem. The study contributes to the understanding of classical Arabic syntax, its stylistic implications, and the challenges of translating such texts into Indonesian.

Abstract

This study examines the interrogation and application of hadiths from Imam Muslim no. 2581, as well as their significance for Islamic social knowledge. This study uses the Arabic linguistic method and content analysis to determine the structure and function of hadis. Per temuan penelitian, hadits in this form have a greater function and meaning than those in previous versions; they also cover rhetorical, pedagogical, and moral education components. While maintaining the integrity of the hadits, the analysis highlights many difficulties in translating the Islamic makna from Arabic to Indonesian. This study also identifies strong connections between the interogatif gaya found in hadiths and contemporary Islamic principles, such as social justice, human rights, and the development of strong communities. These tenets aid in the development of strategies for understanding hadits in the context of the modern world and advancing hadit analysis from an Arab linguistic perspective.

Abstract

This study investigates the use of digital storytelling for learning Arabic vocabulary at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) level. Conventional vocabulary learning frequently encounters challenges in the form of boring procedures, a lack of contextualization, and poor student motivation. In the digital era, incorporating technology into Arabic language study is essential for improving learning efficacy. Digital storytelling is an innovative approach that mixes traditional narratives with multimedia elements such as photos, audio, and video. This descriptive qualitative research was carried out at MTs Al-Falah, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The study's findings show that the use of digital storytelling in vocabulary learning involves two stages: preparation (needs analysis, theme selection, script preparation, media selection, and audio-visual component preparation) and implementation (introduction, concept formation, digital storytelling production, evaluation, and reflection). The benefits include improved vocabulary mastering, learning motivation, the development of digital skills and creativity, and collaborative learning. Challenges include limited infrastructure, teacher technology competency, scheduling constraints, a shift in concentration to technological factors, and limited Arabic resources. The remedies proposed include the use of alternative technologies, teacher training, collaborative teaching, the use of templates, and a focus on learning objectives. The study's findings are likely to help build new and successful Arabic language learning methodologies for the MTs level.

Abstract

The successful foreign language teaching and learning process is one that successfully delivers students to an understanding and the ability to demonstrate the results of their language studies. Realizing students who are able to master the Four Maharah of Arabic only through formal classical learning is not enough. Likewise, Arabic must face different objective conditions between one country and another, between one institution and another, between one time period and another. Although accompanied by various existing field problems, with the right method, the intended effectiveness will not be impossible. Unfortunately, each method certainly has its own advantages and disadvantages, so the selection and combination of methods as a way to bridge these difficulties is the most solution to create a proportional and effective learning method. In his research, the researcher applied the thariqah intiqoiyyah method (combined method) with a choice of methods : thoriqoh al-qowaa’id wa at tarjamah (grammar and translation method) to fulfill Kitabah proficiency, thoriqoh sam’iyah syafawiyah (Audiolingual Method) to fulfill Istima’ proficiency, thoriqah al-qiraah (Reading Method) to fulfill Qira’ah proficiency, community language learning (Learning Language in Groups) to fulfill kalam proficiency. The results obtained are that Arabic language learning at Maahad Tahfiz Al-Quran Darul Falah Selangor Malaysia, with thariqah intiqoiyyah for heterogeneous students in one class with a variety of materials presented, has succeeded in delivering students to understanding and skills to demonstrate their learning outcomes representing each Al-mahaarat Al-lughowiyyah Al-arbi’ah (four Arabic language skills) well and correctly.

Abstract

The Grammar Translation Method (MTBT) is a classic approach in Arabic language learning that is still relevant today. This article aims to conceptually analyze the potential development of MTBT in the digital era. This research uses a qualitative approach through a literature study of relevant literature on MTBT and educational technology innovation. The results of the study show that MTBT has great potential to be revitalized through the integration of technologies such as gamification, interactive media, online dictionaries, and artificial intelligence. This integration is able to make MTBT more adaptive, interesting, and support independent and contextual learning. The conclusion of this article emphasizes that MTBT remains important as a foundation for mastering language rules, and its development needs to be directed towards the application of innovative technology-based models. Further empirical research is needed to test the effectiveness of this integrative implementation in various learning contexts.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role of Nahwu and Sharf learning in enhancing the understanding of tahfidz students regarding the grammatical structure of difficult verses in the Qur'an. The method used is qualitative with an intrinsic case study approach at UPT Bina Qurani, involving participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The research results show that Nahwu-Sharf learning based on the context of musykilat verses increases grammatical understanding by 60%, especially in the analysis of complex structures such as isim maushul and fi'il mudhari'. The scaffolding approach (i'rab diagrams, collaborative discussions) has proven effective in reducing cognitive load, while the hierarchical curriculum design reinforces mastery of rare grammatical patterns. In conclusion, the integration of Nahwu-Sharf with direct analysis of the Quranic text is a fundamental solution to address the grammatical difficulties faced by tahfidz students, ensuring the accuracy of interpretation and practice of Islamic teachings.

Abstract

Language is the primary medium for conveying ideas, thoughts, and information, and it plays a crucial role in all aspects of human life, including the acquisition of knowledge. Arabic, as a language of communication closely associated with Islam, holds a special position in the lives of Muslims because it is the language of the Qur'an and Hadith. However, in the era of globalization—characterized by the rapid flow of information, the dominance of foreign languages, and technological advancements—the existence of Arabic faces serious challenges. The impact of globalization has led to structural and lexical shifts in the Arabic language, including the incorporation of foreign vocabulary, the growing use of Arabizi, and the declining use of Modern Standard Arabic (al-‘Arabiyyah al-Fu???) in daily communication. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review and content analysis to identify forms of change and strategies for preserving the Arabic language in the context of contemporary sociolinguistics. The findings reveal that language change is not only driven by external factors such as the dominance of Western culture and technology, but also by internal challenges such as uncommunicative teaching methods and limited educational resources. Relevant and adaptive preservation strategies—such as the digitalization of learning, revitalization of media, language policy reform, and international collaboration—are key to safeguarding Arabic as a symbol of identity, culture, and the transmission of Islamic values. This research affirms that the preservation of Arabic is not merely a technical matter, but is closely linked to efforts to safeguard cultural heritage and the collective integrity of the Muslim community amid global changes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explain One of the effective methods to overcome students’ difficulties in reading yellow book (classical Islamic texts), despite their prior study of nahwu (syntax) and sharaf (morphology), is the Al-Iktisyaf method. This method was developed by KH. Abdul Hannan Tibyan and integrates three main books: Fath al-Qarib al-Mujib, Amtsilah Tashrifiyah, and Kitab al-Imrithi. The objectives of this study are  To examine the implementation process of the Al-Iktisyaf method in teaching classical texts to beginner students at Ma’had Manba’ul ‘Ulum Sidomulyo Jember,and To evaluate the reading competence of beginner students in understanding classical texts and To identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in applying the Al-Iktisyaf strategy in teaching classical texts at the beginner level. The research approach used in this study is the qualitative approach, with a descriptive-analytical method. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation.The results show that this method helps students improve their reading and comprehension skills more quickly and accurately. The method is implemented in three stages: explanation of vocabulary and rules, memorization and reading, and application of grammatical rules. Students’ competencies vary depending on their individual abilities, but enthusiasm and diligence are the key factors of success. Supporting factors include the availability of learning materials and motivation, while inhibiting factors include students’ lack of interest and challenges in creating a comfortable learning environment.
