Abstract

Rapid developments in information technology have significantly increased the convenience and efficiency of everyday life. Innovations such as mobile phones and other smart devices have changed the way we communicate, allowing for near-constant internet connections and unlimited access to information. Among the various technological innovations that have emerged, social media stands out as one of the most influential aspects. Through their social media accounts, users have the ability to publish various aspects of their personal lives, both in the form of photos and videos, without facing significant obstacles. However, this freedom is often not accompanied by sufficient awareness of privacy. As a result, the phenomenon of oversharing has become widespread. Abstract

The development of technology has brought significant changes to human life, including the ease of accessing information and services via the internet. One form of adaptation of this technology is e-commerce, which allows buying and selling transactions to be carried out online. Shopee, as one of the largest e-commerce platforms, offers various conveniences such as flexible payment methods, attractive promotional programs, and direct home delivery. However, this convenience also encourages consumer behavior, especially among the younger generation, including students. Thi aim of this study is to examine the consumer behavior of students in shopping online through Shopee, with a focus on the factors that drive this behavior and its impact on lifestyle and financial conditions. The study was conducted on students of the Sociology Education Study Program at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, aged 19-23 years who actively use the Shopee application. The findings are expected to provide insight into students' digital consumption patterns, factors that trigger consumer behavior such as aggressive promotions and impulsive purchases, and their implications for financial balance. These findings contribute to the understanding of the impact of e-commerce on consumer behavior in the digital era and become the basis for formulating strategies to overcome its negative impacts, such as waste and financial problems, especially among students. This study has limitations in the scope of the subjects, namely students in one study program and the Shopee platform, so the results cannot be generalized to a wider context.

Abstract

The phenomenon of increasing divorce rates today shows that marriage is often no longer considered sacred by couples who are about to get married. One of the causes is the lack of understanding of premarital because they do not participate in premarital guidance programs. This study aims to examine the concept of premarital guidance from the perspective of two religious figures, namely Muhammad Quraish Shihab from Islam and Jonar Situmorang from Christianity, through a review of their two main works. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a literature study method and content analysis techniques. The main books analyzed are Pengantin Al-Qur'an: 8 Nasihat Perkawinan untuk Anak-Anakku by Quraish Shihab and Berani Menikah by Jonar Situmorang. The results of the study show that premarital guidance according to Quraish Shihab emphasizes the importance of forming the personality of prospective couples, fairness in responsibility, openness of communication, role readiness, and economic stability. Meanwhile, Situmorang highlights the importance of the principle of the sanctity of Christian marriage through the wife's obedience, affection, understanding of the differences between partners, and the role of a wise husband and a capable wife. Both agreed that premarital guidance is an important provision in building a harmonious and sustainable household.

Abstract

Borobudur Temple in Indonesia and Kiyomizudera Temple in Japan are Buddhist places of worship reflecting local wisdom in spiritual practices and architectural structures. This study aims to analyze the values of local wisdom in the spiritual and architectural aspects of both structures, which contribute to a system of meaning, social practices, and community identity. The benefit is to enrich knowledge about the local wisdom embodied in these two historical buildings, which also function as Buddhist places of worship. The method employed is a comparative study using a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review. Findings reveal that Borobudur Temple, influenced by Mahayana Buddhism, reflects local wisdom through communal cooperation (gotong royong), harmony with nature, and spiritual symbolism in its reliefs and tiered structure (kamadhatu, rupadhatu, arupadhatu) representing the path to enlightenment. Meanwhile, Kiyomizudera Temple, influenced by Tendai Buddhism, expresses local wisdom through spiritual activities such as pilgrimage, ritual use of Otowa Waterfall, and the application of traditional, nail-free wooden construction techniques that are earthquake-resistant. The temple is also designed to blend with its natural surroundings and foster inner peace. In conclusion, both structures represent a fusion of spiritual values, traditional architecture, and cultural preservation, reflecting the profound understanding of past societies regarding the interconnection between humanity, nature, and spirituality

Abstract

This study examines the social, economic, and ecological transformations in the management of the Pusur Sub-Watershed (Sub DAS) in Klaten Regency, with a focus on the distribution of actor roles and the contribution of local institutional arrangements. The research adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing data collection methods such as observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation across the upstream, midstream, and downstream areas of the sub-watershed. The findings reveal that multi-stakeholder engagement including local communities, regional governments, businesses, and non-governmental organizations has driven significant socio-ecological transformations. Social-institutional changes are evident in the increased collective awareness among residents to establish and participate in river conservation communities, such as the Pusur Institute, which functions as a collaborative platform across actors. Ecologically, improvements are observed through conservation practices in upstream recharge areas, waste reduction through waste banks, eco-friendly agriculture, and river tubing activities, which have transformed the river into both an ecological and recreational asset. Economically, the development of alternative livelihoods such as conservation farming, river tourism, and waste bank initiatives has provided supplementary income for local communities. These findings suggest that Sub-Watershed management based on community participation and strengthened local institutions can serve as an effective strategy for achieving sustainable development at the local level.

Abstract

The phenomenon of using swear words in Australian English is worth studying because it not only serves as an expression of emotion but also reflects the social and cultural values of its speakers. In cross-cultural interactions, such as Australian tourists visiting Bali, the use of such words has the potential to cause misunderstandings. This study aims to identify and explain the forms, functions, and references of swear words in Australian English from a sociolinguistic and cultural perspective. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with a sociolinguistic approach. Primary data were collected through in-depth interviews with Australian tourists, while secondary data were obtained through document analysis. Three informants were selected based on specific criteria, with the researcher serving as the main instrument, supported by field notes, questionnaires, and interview guidelines. The findings revealed 32 Australian English swear words categorized by their forms, consisting of words (11), phrases (13), and clauses (8). In terms of function, these swear words were used to draw attention, discredit, provoke, establish interpersonal identification, express emotions, provide emphasis, and show aggression. Based on their references, the swear words were related to sexuality (16), excrement (7), religion (4), and personal background (3). The study concludes that the use of swear words in Australian English is not only a means of emotional communication but also an integral part of the speakers’ cultural identity
