Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of using gadgets on high school students' learning motivation in high school chemistry lessons. The type of research used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Qualitative research is research that is intended to reveal symptoms as a whole and in accordance with the context or what they are through collecting data with a natural background as a direct source with the key research instruments themselves. So in this study the researchers conducted observations, interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that: 1) the use of gadgets among high school students, especially in chemistry lessons, is used as a communication aid in increasing student learning motivation such as the use of practicum videos and animations. But there are some students who often play games rather than study. 2) the positive impact of using gadgets, students are able to get information and communication easily while the negative impact of using gadgets during class hours can interfere with student learning concentration so that it can affect student learning behavior. Most students often open the internet and communicate for less useful things that can interfere with the learning process. So that it makes students' learning motivation decrease.

Abstract

The aims of this study are to analyze the interpersonal relationships between chemistry teachers and their students, to investigate chemistry teacher interpersonal behaviour using Model for Interpersonal Teacher Behaviour (MITB), and to identify the interpersonal behaviour profile of chemistry teacher according to student’s perception. The data were collected from 472 eleventh grade students of science class in 5 Public Senior High School and 5 Private Senior High School in South Tangerang Municipality who were randomly sampled using teacher-student interpersonal relationships questionnaire adapted from Questionnaire on Teacher Interaction (QTI). Data were analyzed using Rasch model in Winsteps version 3.73. Results showed that in general, it was indicated that the interpersonal relationships of chemistry teachers and their students are categorized as relatively good. The teachers were considered to have adequately dominant and very cooperative behaviour with students in classroom. Meanwhile, in terms of interpersonal behaviour scale, students perceived their teachers as having higher rate on leadership, helping/friendly, and understanding behaviour than the hostility behaviour. Then, according to interpersonal behaviour profile, it showed that chemistry teachers in South Tangerang Municipality were identified as authoritative.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has a good source of clean water. But do not escape from water pollution caused by population density which is increasing from day to day. This has led to an increasing consumption of water as well as consumption of water in households and in industry. The presence of metals such as Fe (iron), Al (aluminum) and Cr (chromium) in the community's water can be a concern for the health of the residents of Aek Godang and its surroundings. Under these conditions, an experiment was carried out with the aim of analyzing the content of the population's water sources (dug well water, drilled well water, river water) using TDS and water electrolyze tools. The results of this study indicate that the water sources of the Aek Godang community have TDS levels of 24 mg/L and 23 mg/L so that it can be concluded that the water sources of the Aek Godang community are in the good category.

Abstract

Conventional learning models in learning activities is one of the factors causing critical thinking skills of students at SMA N 15 Semarang become low. Therefore, an interactive learning model is needed to develop students' critical thinking skills. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of Self Organized Learning Environment (SOLE) model towards students' critical thinking skills. This research used the pretest-posttest control group design. Sampling technique used random sampling and data collection techniques using observation, interviews and tests. The test instrument was made using indicators of critical thinking skills according to Ennis. The data analysis technique used the N-Gain Score Test and the Independent Sample t-test. The t-test score results 0.000 0.05 meaning that Ha is accepted and the SOLE model has effect towards students' critical thinking skills. The critical thinking skills of students based on n-gain value is also shown improved. The experimental class got 0.71 with high criteria, while the control class got a value of 0.48 with medium criteria.

Abstract

Since students are given the chance to participate directly in their education, project-based learning can enhance their learning results in chemistry, a subject that is considered challenging. Determining the impact of the PjBL model on student learning outcomes for colloidal material is the goal of this study. This study's approach is a quasi-experiment. Two classes—XI IPA 1 and XI IPA 2—that were chosen through purposive sampling made up the research sample. The instrument used in this study is a valid and reliable multiple-choice test of colloidal material. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the average posttest score for the project-based learning model differs from that of the traditional learning model. According to the posttest results, the experimental class's average score was higher—86.27—than the control class's, which was 76.73. Thus, it can be said that the project-based learning methodology has an impact on students' learning outcomes when it comes to colloidal content.
