Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to analyze the needs before developing computational chemistry-based learning media on hydrocarbon materials. This research is classified as development research developed with the ADDIE model. It's just that the stage used in this study is only limited to the analysis stage. Data collection in research is carried out by literature study methods and field studies with research instruments in the form of questionnaires on learning media needs and interviews by teachers. The location of this study is SMA Negeri Modal Bangsa Arun. Based on the results of interviews with chemistry teachers, it was found that learning hydrocarbon material at the high school level requires more effort because students must understand molecular structure, chemical bonds, and atomic structure. This makes students less understanding of concepts microscopically and can also cause misconceptions. Then, the results of the needs analysis show that there are still limited learning media that support microscopic concepts, especially the shape of molecules in 3-D. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that it is necessary to develop computational chemistry-based learning media on hydrocarbon materials.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of applying the problem-based learning model on the literacy abilities of class XI MIA 3 students in the chemical reaction rate topic. This study used a classroom action research method for class XI students of SMAK 7 BPK PENABUR Jakarta, starting from August to October 2020. This classroom action research applied the Stephen Kemmis and Mc Taggart model. Through the results of the final test, observation, and journal reflection for two cycles, this study found that there was an increase in students' literacy skills. This study concludes that this learning model can be used to improve students' literacy skills if the teacher plans learning appropriately. Based on experience in conducting classroom action research, the researcher provides a number of suggestions to the teacher in applying this method.

Abstract

Plants that produce fruit are commonly found in Indonesia. This is because some Indonesians grow plants and utilize them as a business. To maintain good quality and quantity, the plants must be well cared for and protected from pests. Pests are organisms that often disturb or damage plants. Generally, pest control is more effective using chemical pesticides and insecticides, but for the environment and health, the use of chemical pesticides can have a negative impact. This occurs due to the prolonged use of chemical pesticides. With this, researchers used five different types of plants as the object of research, namely mango, durian, guava, avocado and orange. The results of using Barangan banana peel (Musa acuminata linn.) showed that Barangan banana peel can be used as a natural pesticide and has an effect on eliminating pests on plants. Therefore, the use of Barangan banana peel as a pesticide can be a solution for the community, and natural pesticides are also good for the environment and human body health.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the results of the validation test and describe the appearance of the chemical literacy-oriented Speed Cruiser multimedia on the developed reaction rate material. The novelty aspect of this research lies in the delivery of chemical content in the multimedia developed, not only discussing chemical concepts thoroughly, but also integrating the four aspects of chemical literacy, namely content, context, scientific process, and scientific attitude, in one application that can be accessed through various devices. This research uses the Design-Based Research (DBR) method with the stages of analysis, design, and development. The types of data used are quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data was obtained through validation tests and feasibility tests. The validation test was carried out by material experts and media experts, while the feasibility test was carried out by high school students in class XI IPA who participated in IT extracurricular activities. The qualitative data is obtained from suggestions for improvement from validators and respondents. The validation test results for this study obtained an average rcount of 0.89 for all aspects, and the percentage of feasibility test results obtained a value of 86%. This shows that the Speed Cruiser multimedia is declared valid and feasible to use in learning.

Abstract

Chemistry is a branch of science that studies various natural phenomena, including the properties, changes in matter, structure, and the energy that accompanies them. The study of chemistry is interconnected with its concepts, making it continuous. The aim of this research is to analyze misconceptions about acid-base materials using a four-tier multiple-choice diagnostic test instrument. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, aiming to analyze student misconceptions. The subjects of this research were class XI students of SMK KIMIA PGRI SERANG CITY. To collect data, observation techniques, four-tier diagnostic tests, interviews, and documentation were used. The results of this research show that 40% of students have misconceptions about acid-base materials, 13% of students understand the concept, and 47% of students don't understand the concept. More students experience misconceptions compared to students who understand the concept. Based on the percentage results, the level of misconceptions for class XI students at SMK KIMIA PGRI Serang City is classified as medium. According to the results of interviews with students, student misconceptions are caused by two factors: internal factors (coming from students) and external factors (coming from learning media such as books and teachers). The factor that causes students' misconceptions is that schools emphasize practice rather than theory, where practice is 60% and theory is 40%.

Abstract

The process of discoloration is an indication of damage in food. In this case, apples are one of the commodities that often experience this event. The cause of the discoloration is the polyphenol oxidase (PPO) enzyme. One possible prevention that can be used to inhibit the discoloration event is by administering ascorbic acid, iodine, and glucose compounds. The purpose of this study was to analyze the color changes in apples after being treated with ascorbic acid, iodine, and glucose. Color change testing was carried out using immersion in the three solutions. The results obtained from this study were that the treatment of the three solutions for 6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours, 36 hours, and 48 hours was able to inhibit the discoloration of the cut apples. Increasing the concentration of ascorbic acid, iodine, and glucose solutions causes an increase in the ability to inhibit the browning reaction. In addition to the concentration factors of the three solutions, soaking time also affects the quantity of color change inhibition.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the contextual learning model assisted by E-LKPD Liveworksheets on student learning outcomes on the material of colligative properties of solutions. This research was conducted in one of the public high schools in South Tangerang using the quasi-experiment method and non-equivalent control group design. Sampling using a purposive sampling technique consisting of 40 students of class XII MIPA 2 (control class) and 40 students of class XII MIPA 3 (experimental class). Data collection using a multiple choice test of 30 questions. The results of hypothesis testing of learning outcomes data using the t-test (Paired Sample Test) with a significance level of 5% obtained an Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.00 0.05 so that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. This shows that there is an effect of the contextual learning model assisted by E-LKPD Liveworksheets on student learning outcomes on the material of colligative properties of solutions.
