Abstract

Science process skills are very important for students to have, but their optimization is still low. It requires student-centered learning, namely guided inquiry an open sexta media small scale laboratory to assist inquiry activities in schools which are still constrained in carrying out practicums in laboratories. The purpose of this study was to analyze tha level of science process skill through open inquiry learning and guided inquiry using small scale laboratory scuta media to compare the two types of quasi-experimental research conducted at Ma’arif Karangawen High School. The design used in Noneqivalent Control Group Design. Data collection techniques namely pretest/posttest and non-test namely by observation, then tested with n-gain, normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing (t-test) and non-test data analysis. So the results of science process skill with guided inquiry learning are superior to the open inquiry learning method, indicate by the higher average value of the control class using the guided inquiry metod, namely 55,58, an increase 35,58% and n-gain value of 0,44 in the medium category. The experimental class used the open method, namely 50,15, an increase of 27,57% and an n-gain value of 0,35 in the medium category.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine the outcomes of the requirements analysis and learning materials for electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution materials. Additionally, learning materials will be developed utilising computational chemical calculations and visualisation of the results to create learning media based on the National Education Standards Agency (BSNP) requirements. This kind of study uses the ADDIE development model and is referred to as development research. There are five steps in the current ADDIE model: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The entire student body of one of the senior high schools in Padangsidempuan City, North Sumatera, Indonesia, served as the study's population. The participants in this research were senior high school students from Padangsidempuan City, North Sumatera, Indonesia. The use of a purposive sampling technique yields grade X as the research sample. An inquiry form derived from the National Education Standards Agency was used as the research tool. Utilising a significance level of 5%, the data analysis was conducted using the SPSS 22 for Windows software. The investigation's findings demonstrate the need for educational materials to help pupils struggling with learning. Based on 95% validation findings, the learning materials for both electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions visualise the outcomes of computational chemical calculations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the profile of science process skills through the implementations of  project-based learning integrated education for sustainable development on acid-base material. The aim of the project is to create a natural acid-base indicator that can determine the pH range of various solutions and the concentration of a solution using the titration method. This study uses a qualitative research method, the interpretive paradigm with the research subjects of XI IPA students in Jakarta totaling 29 people. Data collection techniques are carried out by class observation, reflective journals of student, interviews, and tests of science process skills. The results showed that science process skills arises during learning and were classified as very good with an average value of 86.99% according to observations and classified as good with an average value of 72.26% in the test of science process skills. Students apply the education for sustainable development (ESD) concept during the project by choosing safe solvents and conducting small-scale experiments to reduce the waste produced. The application of this project is expected to make students have the skills of a researcher by paying attention to sustainable development in every decision they make during learning.

Abstract

Learning is the process of interaction between teachers and students in educational institutions which aims to achieve the expected results, through educational interactions and the goals of knowledge, attitudes and skills. Teachers play an important role in learning by providing appropriate teaching materials. Current learning still prioritizes the role of the teacher and students' activities in class do not develop independently through discovery and thought processes. Therefore, to overcome this, learning resources that are integrated with information technology and based on student-centered learning models are needed. One model that can be applied to chemistry learning is the experiential learning model. This research is development research using a 4-D model. The research aims to produce an integrated augmented reality worksheet based on experiential learning on electrochemical cells material. The results of the LKPD validation by material and media validators were considered valid in terms of content suitability, experiential learning characteristic aspects, linguistic aspects, presentation aspects, graphic aspects, appearance aspects, and software utilization aspects with percentages of 98.87%, 100% respectively. , 87.5%, 96.87%, 96.87%, 97.22% and 100%. The results of the user response trials, namely teachers and students, were assessed as good with respective percentages of 97.22% and 92.82%

Abstract

This research aims to determine the application of the REACT strategy as an innovative approach in improving student chemistry learning outcomes. This research was carried out at MAN 2 Padang Lawas in the Even semester of FY 2023/2024. The population in this study were all students in class X MIA with an average number of students per class of 30 people. The sample consisted of 2 classes taken with determination because the number of class X MIA was only 2 classes. The experimental class applies the REACT strategy as an innovative approach, and the control class applies conventional learning. The data collected is processed from the Posttest results. The data were analysed using the independent t-test formula to test the research hypothesis and obtained tcount  ttable (4.67 1.67), so it can be concluded that the application of the REACT strategy as an innovative approach can improve student chemistry learning outcomes. Meanwhile, the gain test for the increase in learning outcomes for the experimental class was 72.60% in the high category, and the control class was 58.50% in the medium category. It can be concluded that the application of the REACT strategy as an innovative approach can improve students' chemistry learning outcomes.

Abstract

Along with the development of Science and Technology (IPTEK), current educators and students need to improve the quality of education to be able to compete. Therefore, learning media is needed that can increase understanding by using interactive power points . The research aims to test the effectiveness of using powerpoint learning media on chemical bond material to improve the learning outcomes of class X students at SMA 14 Padang City. This research method uses experimental research with a Nonequivalent Control-Group Design research design . The population in this study were all students in class X Science at SMA 14 Padang City, consisting of 5 classes in the even semester of the 2020/2021 academic year. The sampling technique was carried out using the purposive sampling method . The research instrument is a multiple choice test that has been tested for validity, reliability, question discrimination and a good difficulty index. Data were analyzed using the n-gain test and hypothesis testing with the independent sample t-test . The results of data analysis show that the experimental class has a higher n-gain compared to the control class in the medium category. Apart from that, the results of the hypothesis test show a significance value (sig) of less than 0.05, so H 1 is accepted and H 0 is rejected. From the results of this data analysis, it can be concluded that the use of interactive Powerpoint learning media on chemical bond material is effective in improving high school/MA student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Understanding topics in learning must be supported by interesting learning models, especially in chemistry subjects. Learning models that are by the circumstances of students will make it easier for students to receive lessons given by the teacher. This study aims to determine the improvement of student learning outcomes by applying direct instruction learning models to electron configuration material. The research method used is descriptive. This research was conducted at Nusantara Plus High School with a sample of class X. The results showed that the average score obtained was 93.10 with the highest score of 100 and the lowest score of 70. Thus it can be concluded that the direct instruction learning model on electron configuration material can improve the learning outcomes of class X students of SMA Nusantara Plus Ciputat.

Abstract

Student-centered learning significantly influences students' learning and thinking abilities. However, in practice, many teachers still use conventional teaching methods, such as lectures, to deliver material. Conventional teaching is often chosen because it can quickly convey information and is easy to implement in the learning process. Learning activities are a process for students to enhance their abilities and skills. One of the essential skills students need to develop is critical thinking. This skill can foster cognitive aspects and improve students' problem-solving abilities. Critical thinking skills can be trained during learning activities. This study aims to determine students' critical thinking skills in conventional learning on hydrocarbon combustion. The research employs a descriptive quantitative method with a test instrument in the form of essay questions. Ennis's critical thinking aspects measure students' critical thinking skills. Ennis's critical thinking aspects consist of 5 aspects encompassing 12 indicators. The results of the study show that students' critical thinking skills in conventional learning are categorized as low with 52.80%.
