Abstract

International meetings (either conferences or other forms of meetings) that are held certainly have implications for the image of the host. The organization of the event represents the destination/country that acts as the host. The potential to organize international meetings can come from several market segments, one of which is the association market segment, especially professional associations affiliated with international or world-class associations. The main reason for preparing the Ambassador Program is that the majority of international association meetings that occur periodically and alternate between countries require a kind of competitive bidding process involving local or national contacts to submit proposals or invitations (ICCA, 2012). This research was conducted to increase the number of international association conferences held in order to improve Indonesia's competitiveness as a MICE Destination. The method that will be used is the exploratory method by conducting desk research and respondent surveys to professional associations affiliated with international associations. Abstract

This study analyzes the effectiveness of customer interaction strategies implemented during the virtual pre-event seminars of Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2024, with a focus on their contribution to enhancing trust and participation among international buyers. Employing a qualitative case study approach on the official organizer of TEI 2024, this research draws on data collected through participatory observation and documentation analysis of seminars targeting the Japanese, Dutch, and East African markets. The findings highlight that interaction models centered on direct dialogue with official government trade representatives—such as Trade Attachés and the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC)—serve as a critical factor. This strategy achieved up to a 90% participation rate, demonstrating that interactive sessions, particularly discussions and Q&A segments, significantly reinforce buyer trust. Implicatively, the study suggests that pre-event virtual strategies emphasizing authoritative interaction may serve as an effective model for international B2B event marketing, functioning as a catalyst to foster engagement and convert audiences into exhibition participants.

Abstract

Vocational education aims to produce graduates who are ready for work and aligned with industry needs. This study analyzes the 'link and match' between the curriculum of the MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibition) Study Program at the Polytechnic Negeri Jakarta (PNJ) and work practices in the event organizer industry, through a case study of workload assessment at PT Metra Digital Media (MD Media). The objective of this research is to evaluate the alignment between theories acquired during lectures and their practical application in the professional world, particularly in event management. This study employed a qualitative method, with data collection techniques including direct observation, interviews, and documentation during a three-month internship period. The analysis results indicate a significant correlation between subjects such as Logistics Management, Site Inspection, Corporate Event, Special Event, and Convention Planning, and the tasks performed at PT MD Media, with an average suitability percentage ranging from 65% to 90%. Nevertheless, the gap analysis revealed that field practice demands more flexible adaptation and the handling of more complex aspects compared to the theoretical frameworks taught. In conclusion, there is a good 'link and match' between the PNJ MICE study program and industry needs, where theoretical knowledge serves as a crucial foundation for professional practice. However, the development of dynamic practical competencies remains necessary to effectively meet industry challenges. Abstract

Indonesia’s event and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industries have demonstrated rapid growth over the past decade, contributing significantly to the country’s tourism and creative economy sectors. However, this progress has been accompanied by increased exposure to external disruptions, most notably the Covid-19 pandemic. In this volatile and competitive landscape, event organizer (EO) firms are required to adopt adaptive and forward-looking risk management strategies to ensure performance sustainability. This study aims to examine the relationship between risk management and organizational performance within the Indonesian event industry, with a particular focus on the financial and operational dimensions of risk. Employing a descriptive quantitative approach, data were collected from 100 EO and MICE business operators across Indonesia. Structural equation modeling using Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) was applied to test the proposed model. Findings reveal that both financial risk (β = 0.297, p = 0.020) and operational risk (β = 0.370, p = 0.003) have a statistically significant and positive impact on firm performance. Together, these factors account for 69.2% of the variance in performance outcomes (R² = 0.692). The results emphasize the importance of implementing systematic and anticipatory risk management practices to enhance business resilience and competitive advantage. By identifying key risk factors that influence EO performance, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of strategic management in the event industry and offers practical implications for improving firm responsiveness amid an increasingly dynamic global environment.
