Abstract

Background: This study aims to describe and compare the physiological characteristics of junior men’s and women’s doubles athletes in badminton. Methods: Testing consists of anthropometric and physical ability tests. Anthropometry includes height, weight, BMI, fat mass, muscle mass. Physical ability tests include handgrip, sit & reach, counter movement jump, stroke stand balance, whole body reaction, 10m sprint, ilinois agility test, VO2max (multi stage sprint), anaerobic capacity (RAST Test). Statistical analysis using normality test and paired t-test. Results: The results showed significant differences in almost all anthropometric tests except BMI. There are significant differences in the components of hand grip ability, CMJ, 10m sprint, VO2max, anaerobic capacity and there are no significant differences in sit & reach ability, balance, reaction and agility. Conclusions: By utilizing all the findings, practical suggestions can be designed for junior badminton athlete coaches.

Abstract

Background: Football training is frequently associated with the injuries occuring, thus highlighting the crucial need for sports science to focus on the relationship between training load and injury incidence. In team sports, injuries can disrupt both individual athlete performance and overall team success. Training-load-related injuries are generally preventable, necessitating practical approaches such as internal training load monitoring. Methods: This study employed a systematic literature review methodology. Relevant keywords were combined using the Scopus database. Only English-language research articles published between 2014 and 2024, focusing on internal training load monitoring and injury in football, and involving professional or elite male and female football players, were analyzed. Results: The analysis yielded seven research articles that met the inclusion criteria. Injuries in football are a significant concern due to their negative impact on team. A significant relationship between internal load measurements and injury occurrence was found, although some previous studies did not support this finding. Internal training load variables applicable to football include Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE), heart rate, and blood biomarkers. Conclusions: A significant relationship exists between internal load measurements and injury occurrence in elite football players. In the context of training load monitoring, there is a significant practical value for coaches and healthcare staff to adopt this approach as an injury prevention strategy. For professional or elite level football, particularly, it is recommended to integrate monitoring methods using multiple internal load measurement variables.

Abstract

Background: Pico seems likely to be successful in competitive sports, particularly swimming, including the next Olympic swimming competition. The current manuscript offers a detailed insight into research on the prediction of swimming performance, between 2014 and 2024. Methods: This Swimming Performance Prediction research used the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Furthermore, to narrow down the articles relevant to research topics reviewed, this study adhered to the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) when performing the systematic review. We find 21 journal publications from the representative studies for seeking identification and analysis for describing research topics or trends, datasets, techniques, methods, evaluations and problems in this research field. Results: The analyses presented provide detailed information on the topics and trends under investigation in the field of predictions for the prediction of swimming performance, reference to public datasets and the techniques and method often used in comparisons between researchers respectively. Conclusions: Swimming performance prediction plays an important role in improving training programs, guiding athlete selection, and evaluating progress.

Abstract

Background: Talent Identification (TI) is essential to the pursuit of achievement and progress in human development. IT embodies the search and discovery of the most talented individuals who can solve real-world problems. The impact of IT on the advancement of human potential and capital, IT research has implications for individuals and their families, educators and coaches, and stakeholders and policy makers. This systematic review aims to analyze anthropometric factors related to the taekwondo. Methods: The method used is the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). The database was taken from Pubmed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science, and Embase. 9 articles were analyzed through objectives, topic suitability, sample size, research protocol, results and discussion. Results: The results of this literature review explain that anthropometric and biomotor factors reveal significant insights and limitations. Anthropometric components are important for taekwondo breeding including various physical measurements that significantly affect performance. The main anthropometric components are weight and height, body mass index, body fat percentage, sitting height and arm reach, endomorphic body type and skeletal muscle mass. Comprehensive biomotor components, including muscle strength, muscle endurance, cardiovascular endurance, speed, acceleration, motor coordination and flexibility. Conclusions: These anthropometric and biomotor components are very important for the success of finding potential taekwondo athletes through a holistic approach to their development.

Abstract

Background: Pencak silat has been admitted as a branch of sport and projected to be officially competed in multievent sport games, hence the call integrating sport science in pencak silat has been conducted by pencak silat scholars and practitioners.  This research bracgrounded from the lack of reference for analyzing the performance of pencak  silat athletes in the artistic category, include team category. This study aims to develop a form to monitor the performance mastery  and development of synchronised movements in pencak silat athletes in the artistic team category. By using the forms, coaches can monitor movement errors in athletes, evaluate  them, and make improvements so that athletes can make progress in each training session to  achieve top performance. Methods: This study employs a descriptive  qualitative research method, analyzing the data of 3 (three) pencak silat team category who have participated in three championships from July to December 2024, resulting in nine documentation sets. The documentation then used as a starting point to develop[ a permormance monitoring tables contained 12 points in team category movements. Results: the results of this  study is a form to assess the progress of synchronicity and accuracy of time, rhythm, and refinement of movements in the team category. upon careful development, the forms could be used as a tools helping the coaches in monitoring progression in pencak silat team category.  Conclusions: , the forms could be used as a tools helping the coaches in monitoring progression in pencak silat team category.
