Abstract

Pesantren require contextual entrepreneurship learning that enables santri to use mathematics in business decisions while remaining guided by Sharia ethics. This study developed and initially evaluated the SME-Sharia Learning Model for strengthening applied mathematics competence in a pesantren context. Using the ADDIE research-and-development framework and a one-group pretest-posttest design, the study involved 20 Grade IX female santri at Pondok Pesantren Al Muslimun Lhoksukon, Aceh Utara; five caregivers contributed to the needs analysis. Data were obtained from student and caregiver needs surveys, expert appraisal, readability testing, an applied mathematics test, observation, interviews with five santri, and a post-intervention Sharia-values questionnaire. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively and with a paired-sample t-test, Cohen's dz, and a supplementary Wilcoxon test, while qualitative data were analyzed thematically. Preliminary appraisal means were 3.60 for the mathematics education expert and 3.80 for the Sharia economics expert, and readability averaged 3.52 on a four-point scale. Applied mathematics scores increased from 59.5 to 78.5 on a 0-100 reporting scale (mean difference = 19.0, 95% CI [12.1, 25.9]), t(19) = 5.729, p < .001, dz = 1.28; 17 students improved, two declined, and one was unchanged. Supporting descriptive evidence indicated ethical awareness and active participation during business simulations. Because the study lacked a control group, item-level reliability data, and a validated pretest-posttest readiness measure, the findings are preliminary. The model offers an integrative approach linking applied mathematics, entrepreneurship practice, and Sharia ethical reasoning in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the principal strategies, obstacles, and challenges in improving the professionalism of teachers at MAS Baitul A’idah Bireuen. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving the principal and teachers as key informants. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the principal has implemented comprehensive strategies, including teacher professional development through training, workshops, In-House Training (IHT), academic and managerial supervision, strengthening an Islamic work culture, providing motivation and rewards, and competency-based teacher management. However, the implementation of these strategies is constrained by limited financial resources, differences in teacher competencies, varying levels of motivation, heavy administrative workloads, and limited access to professional development. Furthermore, the principal faces challenges related to digital transformation, changes in educational policies, increasing demands for educational quality, and the need to strengthen collaboration with stakeholders. The study concludes that improving teacher professionalism requires visionary, adaptive, innovative, and collaborative leadership to create sustainable professional development and improve the quality of Islamic education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of implementing the SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, Intellectual) active learning model on improving Arabic speaking skills (Mahārah al-Kalām) among 11th-grade students at MAN Alor NTT. A quantitative method with a pre-experimental design (One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design) was employed. The sample consisted of 30 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through oral tests (pre-test and post-test), active participation observations and documentation. Test data were analyzed using the Independent Samples T-Test and normalized gain (N-Gain) tests, while observational data were analyzed using percentage descriptive statistics. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the Paired Sample t-Test via SPSS. The results showed a significant improvement in students' speaking skills following the implementation of the SAVI model. The mean score increased by 24.17 points, from 58.33 in the pre-test (low/fair category) to 82.50 in the post-test (good/high category). Hypothesis testing revealed a calculated -value of 27.46, exceeding the -table value () with a significance value of , leading to the rejection of  and acceptance of . Thus, it can be concluded that the SAVI active learning model has a positive and significant effect on the Arabic speaking skills of students at MAN Alor NTT.
