Abstract

Quality education is influenced not only by pedagogical aspects but also by students’ physical readiness, which is closely related to nutritional status. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) and its impact on student participation in Physical Education learning at SD Negeri 1 Bebesen. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using an interactive analysis model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation as well as member checking. The findings indicate an increase in students’ average attendance from 85% to 93% after the implementation of the program, along with a decrease in the number of students absent due to illness or fatigue. These changes are described based on observational and documentation data within the qualitative case study context. Observational results reveal improvements across all participation indicators, including active engagement in warm-up activities, endurance during core exercises, enthusiasm in games, and responsiveness to teacher instructions. Thematic analysis identified four main themes: increased physical energy, enhanced enthusiasm and motivation, active participation in physical activities, and improved attendance consistency. These findings suggest that the MBG program contributes not only to students’ physical well-being but also to psychological readiness, thereby supporting the effectiveness of Physical Education learning. Integrating school nutrition policies with activity-based learning represents a holistic approach to improving health-oriented educational quality.

Abstract

This study examines how metaphors and similes in Suzanne Collins’s The Hunger Games represent the protagonist’s trauma and construct the dystopian reality of Panem and the Capitol. Although previous studies have discussed dystopian themes and figurative language in the novel, limited attention has been paid to how these expressions work from a cognitive stylistic perspective to shape readers’ understanding of trauma and social injustice. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study analyzes selected figurative expressions and narrative passages from Katniss’s narration and from descriptions of Panem and the Capitol through textual analysis grounded in conceptual metaphor theory and cognitive stylistics. The findings show that figurative expressions related to bodily pain, fear, and entrapment portray trauma as an embodied psychological burden, while similes emphasizing the Capitol’s spectacle and excess reinforce unequal power relations and the normalization of violence. These patterns deepen readers’ engagement with Katniss’s experience and reveal mechanisms of domination and resistance within the dystopian order. Overall, the study demonstrates that figurative language functions not only as an aesthetic device but also as a cognitive means of linking personal suffering to broader sociopolitical critique.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of developing critical literacy in Indonesian language learning through literary texts that represent social realities. The novel Egosentris by Syahid Muhammad presents various discourses related to power relations, empathy crisis, and ideological construction in contemporary society. This research aims to analyze the discourse in the novel Egosentris using Norman Fairclough’s three-dimensional model of Critical Discourse Analysis and to examine its relevance from the perspective of critical literacy in Indonesian language education. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with documentation as the data collection technique, while data analysis is conducted through textual analysis, discourse practice, and sociocultural practice. The findings indicate that the novel represents ideologies of individualism, normalization of power relations, and social criticism through reflective and critical language use. Furthermore, the novel has strong potential as teaching material to foster students’ critical thinking skills. This study concludes that Critical Discourse Analysis of literary texts can effectively support critical literacy-based Indonesian language learning

Abstract

Listening comprehension continues to present significant difficulties for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners, especially when they must process spoken language in real time. The audiovisual media in listening instruction can improve comprehension and learning engagement. This study investigates how short films are used in a deep learning approach in a university English as a Foreign Language (EFL) listening class. A qualitative case study method was used, involving twenty-two undergraduate students in a Listening and Speaking course at the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Langsa, Indonesia. Classroom observations, student reflection logs, and semi-structured interviews were used to gather the data. The training unfolded over four separate sessions. The project involved watching films, identifying important words, creating stories, and writing personal reflections. The findings indicated that the incorporation of short films improved students' listening comprehension by providing contextual visual cues that facilitated meaning construction. Moreover, the use of reflective activities encouraged deeper cognitive involvement, allowing students to connect the film's content with their own experiences and the larger societal context. Conversely, some students encountered difficulties in spontaneous oral retelling, attributable to limited vocabulary and speaking confidence. In conclusion, the study indicated that the combination of audiovisual materials with deep learning activities can cultivate more meaningful listening experiences within EFL classrooms.

Abstract

Character education in multicultural environments often faces obstacles such as cultural egoism and low levels of tolerance among early childhood students; however, existing counseling approaches remain generic and have not addressed local cultural roots. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of an ethnocounseling approach in optimizing character formation for early childhood in multicultural settings. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation at Early Childhood Education (PAUD) institutions in heterogeneous regions. The research findings indicate that the integration of local cultural values into the counseling process significantly enhances cross-cultural empathy and self-awareness in children. The originality of this study lies in the formulation of an ethnocounseling model that synergizes indigenous wisdom with modern counseling techniques as a preventive instrument against identity conflicts from an early age. These results imply the importance of a culture-based curriculum in early childhood education in Indonesia

Abstract

This study is motivated by the suboptimal implementation of inclusive education in realizing substantive educational justice, despite being normatively strengthened through policies and academic discourse since 2022. The gap between ideal concepts and actual practices is still influenced by structural, pedagogical, and cultural barriers. This study aims to analyze the implementation of inclusive education from the perspective of social justice theory and to examine the extent to which such practices reflect the principles of justice in the dimensions of distribution, recognition, and participation. The study employs a qualitative approach through a systematic literature review method enriched with critical analysis of scientific articles published between 2022 and 2026, using thematic and comparative analysis techniques. The findings indicate that inclusive education is not merely related to expanding access for students with special needs, but also requires a reconstruction of the educational paradigm toward substantive justice that positions identity recognition, active participation, and resource distribution as interconnected dimensions. The synthesis of this study reveals that the success of inclusive education is more strongly determined by the transformation of school culture and the integration of diversity-responsive policies rather than merely fulfilling the administrative requirements of inclusion policies. Therefore, inclusive education has the potential to serve as an instrument of social justice if it is directed toward systemic transformation oriented to equality in learning experiences and the empowerment of all learners.

Abstract

The phenomenon of declining quality of Qur'an memorization in some alumni of Madrasah Ulumul Qur'an Pagar Air after continuing education at the university level. Based on the results of initial observations, many alumni faced various challenges, such as changes in learning patterns, lack of memorization guidance and weakened enthusiasm to maintain memorization. In addition, extrinsic motivations such as support from parents, teachers, peers, and the campus environment are suspected to have a significant role in the consistency of murajaah memorization of the Qur'an. This study aims to determine the relationship between extrinsic motivation and memorization of the Qur'an of alumni of Madrasah Ulumul Qur'an Pagar Air at UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The research population is alumni of Madrasah Ulumul Qur'an Pagar Air who are studying in the Islamic Religious Education Study Program and the Qur'an and Tafsir Study Program. The research sample was 25 respondents who chose the purposive sampling technique. Based on the results of the regression test, a significant value of 0.674 > 0.05 was obtained, which showed that there was no relationship between extrinsic motivation and memorization of the Qur'an. Thus, it can be concluded that extrinsic motivation does not have a significant relationship with the process of memorizing the Qur'an in the alumni of Madrasah Ulumul Qur'an Pagar Air UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh

Abstract

This study aims to develop the Integrative Qolbun Salim Model (MIQS) as a conceptual framework integrating Islamic parenting principles with modern developmental psychology in early childhood education. A qualitative approach was employed through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) combined with Conceptual Model Development. Literature was retrieved from Scopus, Web of Science, Dimensions, ERIC, and Google Scholar following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Data were analyzed using open coding, axial coding, thematic synthesis, and conceptual integration. The synthesis of thirty core manuscripts generated six major themes: Islamic spiritual foundation, parent–child emotional attachment, emotion regulation and mental health, positive parenting based on modern psychology, Islamic role modeling in family education, and the integration of Islamic parenting with contemporary developmental psychology. These findings resulted in the MIQS framework consisting of input, process, and output components, positioning Qolbun Salim as the core construct of holistic child development. The model offers both a theoretical contribution and a practical framework for families and early childhood education institutions in fostering children's spiritual, emotional, social, and psychological well-being.
