Abstract

Referring to the Indonesian Minister of Transportation Regulation No. PM 7 of 2019 and IMO regulations onthe use of AIS devices, it is stated that AIS devices must be installed on passenger ships, cargo ships with a minimum sizeof 35GT, and fishing vessels of at least 60GT. However, smaller vessels under 60GT are also highly recommended to equipAIS devices to enhance maritime safety and security. This recommendation is based on several maritime accidentsinvolving traditional fishing vessels, which often lack safety equipment such as navigation tools and AIS devices. Therefore, the role of AIS devices is crucial for the safety of fishermen at sea, especially in preventing ship collisions, illegal fishing, and supporting SAR (Search and Rescue) operations. The high cost of AIS equipment presents a challengefor small-scale fishermen to afford these devices. This research aims to develop a more affordable alternative AIS devicebased on Lora technology, which offers similar functionality to standard AIS devices. The developed Lora Transpondercan also be integrated with the existing AIS-POLBENG system, thereby facilitating monitoring activities and providingearly warnings of potential hazards during sailing activities to traditional fishing vessels equipped with the device. Thesystem implementation results show that the Early Warning System operates as expected. The maximum coverage of AISTransponder data transmission is 49.87 Nautical Miles (92.36 Km). On the other hand, 3 units of lora transponder deviceshave successfully sent sensor and location data to the gateway every 30 seconds with the device set at class C andrecommended using binary format for more efficiency.

Abstract

The present work aimed to use digital image processing techniques for identifying body dimensions of NileTilapia. The total number of exoskeleton measurements made on fish body dimension are high in aquaculture as it is usedto predict the weight, feeding schedule, breeding and market value. Current fish measuring methods can be time-consumingand susceptible to human error. In this research, an automated and effective fish measurement system with digital imageprocessing is proposed. It consists of taking images of the fish, segmenting the fish body from its background and finallyusing contour detection to measure a set of dimensions such as length, height and width. This analysis is applied on thesedimensions to find the weight of specific fish. Overall, the results reveal that the image processing methodology maysuccessfully reproduce manual measurements with a great degree of accuracy and hence can be a suitable tool forapplications in aquaculture practice. This may greatly cut down on operations.

Abstract

Residential burglaries are prevalent offenses, frequently occurring during the absence of homeowners. These offensesgenerally entail breaching doors or windows. An innovative home security system is important to resolve this issue. This researchseeks to create an automated door locking mechanism utilizing knock patterns and facial recognition to improve residential security. The system incorporates a piezoelectric sensor for detecting knock patterns and an ESP32-Cam for facial recognition. The studymethodology entails the development and evaluation of a system that integrates two primary components, guaranteeing that thedoor unlocks solely upon the recognition of both an accurate knock pattern and a registered facial image. The system's accuracywas assessed under varying lighting situations and distances to determine its efficacy. The results indicate that the face detectionsystem operates effectively under optimal lighting settings, and the knock pattern system activates the door lock mechanism whenthe knock intervals correspond to the pre-registered pattern. Nonetheless, the system encounters difficulties in recognizing faces inlow-light conditions. The door lock is secure, as it will only unlock when both the appropriate facial recognition and knock patterncriteria are satisfied, thus improving security relative to conventional locks. This dual-layer security strategy mitigates the dangersinherent in traditional systems, such as keys or PINs, which are susceptible to theft or circumvention. The proposed technologysignificantly enhances home security, presenting a more secure and user-friendly alternative to current options. Futureenhancements may concentrate on augmenting the precision of facial detection in low-light environments and refining the systemfor wider practical applications.

Abstract

Root nodulation is a crucial process for legumes, including edamame (Glycine max (L.) Merr.), as it enablesbiological nitrogen fixation, enhancing nitrogen availability for plant growth. The implementation of Rhizobium inoculumhas been demonstrated to reduce the necessity for synthetic fertilizers, thereby enhancing the health and yield of the plantsin question. Furthermore, optimal plant population management ensures adequate access to light, water, and nutrients, maximizing productivity. The combination of Rhizobium inoculation and population management represents a crucialstrategy for enhancing the productivity and sustainability of legume crops, such as edamame. This study examines theimpact of Rhizobium inoculation and plant population management on the nodulation and productivity of edamame. Theresearch was conducted using a randomized block design, with two factors: the application of Rhizobium (Bradyrhizobiumjaponicum) at two levels (without inoculation and with inoculation) and plant spacing (20 x 15 cm and 20 x 30 cm). Eachtreatment was replicated five times. The observed parameters included number of root nodulations, plant height, leaf area, leaf greenness, number of filled and empty pods, weight of filled and empty pods, wet weight, and 100 seed weight. Thedata were subjected to analysis of variance, followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The findings indicated thatRhizobium inoculation markedly enhanced root nodulation, with the 20 x 15 cm spacing in conjunction with inoculationyielding the highest total nodulation, number and wight filled pods, wet weight, and 100 seed weight.

Abstract

This study examines the application of the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE) to addressclass imbalance within a dataset used for predicting high school major selection. The dataset comprises 468 traininginstances, including 306 labeled as 'IPA' and 162 labeled as 'IPS'. Despite the implementation of SMOTE, the results revealno significant enhancement in the predictive performance of the models, as both the SMOTE and non-SMOTE modelsachieved an accuracy of 100%, an F1-score of 100%, and a recall of 100%. This finding suggests that other factors, suchas the selection of relevant features, hyperparameter tuning, and model complexity, may have a more substantial impact onprediction performance. Additionally, the study proposes several recommendations for future research, includingconducting a more in-depth feature analysis, exploring alternative classification algorithms with advanced class imbalancehandling mechanisms, and performing meticulous hyperparameter optimization to improve overall model performance.

Abstract

Charcoal burning is a traditional method widely used in industries such as power generation, steel production, and manufacturing. This process involves high-risk equipment components, such as pipes that have a certain meltingpoint limit, so continuous temperature monitoring is very important to maintain operational efficiency and safety.Anjangg village, as a producer of charcoal from mangrove tree trunks, faces air pollution problems due to the smokeproduced during the burning process. As a solution, a tool has been developed that can convert smoke into liquid (liquidsmoke). However, the high temperature of the smoke poses a risk to the PVC pipe material used in liquid smokecondensers which can melt at a temperature of 85℃. The tool that will be made in this research is a tool that can monitorthe temperature of the pipe to help maintain the durability of the condenser pipe material. This monitoring system tool isrun using an automatic Arduino Uno microcontroller system and uses a type K thermocouple temperature sensor as atemperature detection tool in the pipe. The test results show that the system is successful in detecting temperatures up to83.75℃ well, with consistent voltage when detecting smoke or not.
