Abstract

This study investigates the role of Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers in addressing adolescent behavioral changes at SMP Negeri 3 Kediri. Utilizing a qualitative research approach, data were gathered through observations, interviews with BK teachers, students, and school principals, as well as documentation analysis. The findings indicate that various factors, including family dynamics, peer influence, and academic pressure, contribute to behavioral shifts among students. BK teachers employed individual counseling, group counseling, and cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques, demonstrating effectiveness in enhancing students' self-confidence, emotional regulation, and academic motivation. However, challenges such as limited parental involvement and time constraints in counseling sessions persisted. Despite these limitations, active student participation in counseling programs significantly influenced their behavioral improvement. The study highlights the need for stronger collaboration between BK teachers, school administrators, and parents to optimize the effectiveness of counseling services in schools.

Abstract

Human personality embodies both animalistic and angelic traits, often leading to an internal struggle between these two aspects. At times, individuals are driven by their bodily desires and instincts, while at other times, they are guided by their spiritual needs. In the Qur'an, human personality is referred to as human potential or fitrah, a divine endowment from the Creator. This potential can incline individuals toward goodness or wrongdoing, depending on whether they follow the whispers of desire (nafs) or the guidance of intellect (‘aql). The Qur'an categorizes human personality into three main types: Mukmin (believers), Kafir (disbelievers), and Munafikun (hypocrites). This study explores the structural composition of human personality from an Islamic perspective, analyzing how these classifications reflect the dynamic interplay between spiritual and material inclinations. By examining Qur'anic discourse, the study highlights the underlying principles that shape human behavior and ethical choices. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of Islamic psychology, emphasizing the role of divine guidance in personal development and moral decision-making.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of integrating technology-based applications in enhancing students’ creativity in writing short story texts among ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 8 Medan. Employing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, the research was conducted in four iterative phases: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The participants comprised 30 students from Class IX-9. Data were collected through observations, questionnaires, interviews, and writing skill assessments via pre-tests and post-tests. Both quantitative and qualitative analyses were employed to assess changes in students’ creative writing abilities. The findings demonstrate a substantial improvement: the pre-test average score was 68.5 with a classical completeness of 60%, while the post-test average rose to 82.3 with 86.7% completeness. Qualitative data further revealed increased student motivation and engagement during writing activities. Teachers reported that the technology-based tools effectively stimulated students' imagination and helped them produce more compelling narratives. The study concludes that incorporating technology into short story writing instruction significantly fosters students’ creativity and recommends its broader application as an innovative pedagogical strategy in language learning.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach in enhancing short story writing skills among ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 8 Medan. Employing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method implemented in two cycles, the research involved 30 students from Class IX-6. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and writing tests, with sources drawn from both students and teachers. The analysis combined quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques. Initial findings revealed a class mastery level of only 18.3% in the pre-cycle stage. Following the implementation of the TaRL approach, mastery improved to 65.7% in the first cycle and reached 86.4% in the second cycle. These outcomes demonstrate that the TaRL method significantly improves students’ ability to write short stories by aligning instruction with their actual comprehension levels. The approach effectively facilitated idea development, understanding of narrative structure, and enhanced use of language. Furthermore, TaRL fostered greater student engagement by providing personalized and targeted instruction. The study concludes that the TaRL approach is a powerful pedagogical tool for improving creative writing competencies and should be considered for broader application in writing instruction across educational settings.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the project-based learning model in enhancing students' ability to write observational report texts in Class IX-10 at SMP Negeri 8 Medan. The research addresses the problem of students’ low proficiency in composing observational reports that meet structural and linguistic conventions. Employing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, the study was conducted over two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were gathered through writing tests, classroom observations, and interviews, and analyzed using a combination of descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods. The participants were 29 students (13 males and 16 females). The findings indicate that the implementation of the project-based learning model led to measurable improvements in students’ writing performance. In the first cycle, students demonstrated moderate progress, while the second cycle showed significant gains, with most students surpassing the minimum competency threshold. Students also displayed increased engagement and autonomy in the learning process, alongside enhanced skills in organizing, analyzing, and reporting observations coherently. These results suggest that project-based learning fosters active learning, critical thinking, and sustained motivation, making it an effective pedagogical approach for developing writing skills, particularly in the context of observational report texts.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of integrating Quizizz as a digital learning medium to enhance students’ mastery of structural and linguistic features in discussion texts, specifically targeting Class IX-8 students at SMP Negeri 8 Medan. Employing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design with both quantitative and qualitative approaches, the study involved 31 students whose learning outcomes were evaluated through formative assessments, observations, and student response questionnaires. Prior to the intervention, the average pre-test score was 86.2, with 67.7% of students scoring ?85. Following the implementation of Quizizz across learning cycles, the average post-test score rose to 92.5, with 71% scoring ?90. In the experimental setting, scores further improved to an average of 93.6, with 83.9% of students attaining ?90. Survey results revealed that 77.4% of students believed Quizizz enhanced their understanding of the material, while 90.3% appreciated its real-time feedback. The gamified elements of Quizizz—such as point systems and leaderboards—were shown to increase motivation and foster a more interactive, engaging learning experience. The findings underscore Quizizz’s potential as an effective digital tool to support academic achievement in language learning, particularly in the context of discussion text writing.

Abstract

This study investigates the enhancement of student learning motivation through the integration of LCD projector media and the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning model in science lessons. Conducted as a Classroom Action Research (CAR), the study followed cyclical stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research took place in Class VI-D of MIN 11 West Aceh during the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, involving 30 students (14 boys and 16 girls). Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation, and analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods. Findings indicate that (1) the use of LCD projectors combined with the STAD model was initially rated as sufficient (average score of 3.4) in Cycle I, improving to a good level (3.8) in Cycle II; (2) student motivation increased from 71.4% (moderate) in Cycle I to 92.2% (very good) in Cycle II; and (3) positive student responses rose from 59% in Cycle I to 75% in Cycle II. These results suggest that employing multimedia tools alongside cooperative learning strategies can effectively enhance motivation in science education.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of using educational game media based on the Monopoly format to enhance student engagement in Social Studies. The research was conducted with fourteen sixth-grade students from an elementary school in North Sumatra. Employing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, the study followed four key phases: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through student engagement questionnaires administered before and after the implementation. Findings demonstrated a significant increase in the average engagement score from 1.87 to 2.99. Additionally, the post-intervention data revealed that the majority of students transitioned into the "active" and "more active" categories, indicating a substantial improvement in classroom participation. The results affirm that Monopoly-based educational game media can be a practical and innovative tool to foster higher levels of student involvement in learning activities.

Abstract

This study investigates the development of mutual cooperation values among BI group children at RA Yabus through a project-based learning method centered on gardening activities. The background of the research highlights the lack of significant growth in cooperative behavior, attributed to the conventional use of group-based learning by teachers. The central research question explores how project-based methods can foster mutual cooperation in early childhood education. Employing a qualitative approach with classroom action research (CAR) design, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive qualitative techniques. The findings indicate a marked improvement in mutual cooperation values among the children. In the pre-research and first cycle, 1% of children were at the 'not yet developing' (BB) stage, while 99% were at the 'beginning to develop' (MB) stage, with no children reaching the 'expected development' (BSH) or 'very well developed' (BSB) levels. By the second cycle, outcomes significantly shifted, with 20% reaching BSH and 80% achieving BSB. These results demonstrate that project-based methods, particularly gardening activities, effectively cultivate the value of mutual cooperation in early childhood settings.

Abstract

This study aims to transform reading comprehension instruction through the implementation of the RADEC model integrated with digital flipbook media for elementary school students. The research was motivated by the persistently low levels of students’ reading comprehension skills and the urgent need for innovative, technology-driven learning approaches. Employing a classroom action research design, the study was conducted over two cycles and utilized observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The findings demonstrate that the integration of the RADEC model with digital flipbooks significantly enhanced students’ reading comprehension abilities, as evidenced by improved learning outcomes in each cycle. This suggests that the RADEC model, when supported by interactive digital media, fosters more engaging and meaningful learning experiences. The study concludes that the RADEC-based digital flipbook model is a practical and effective tool for improving literacy competencies at the primary level and recommends its broader application in elementary education alongside the continued development of digital learning innovations.
