Abstract

A community service activity themed "Early Financial Intelligence: Basic Financial Literacy Education and Online Loan Risks" was conducted at SD Negeri 1 Singapadu Tengah, Gianyar, Bali. This program aimed to enhance 5th- and 6th-grade students' understanding of basic financial literacy and the risks associated with online loans. Based on initial observations, it was found that the students had a minimal understanding of financial management, the distinction between needs and wants, and the risks of using Fintech Loans. The implementation methods included observation, interviews, preparation and design, execution, and closing. Education was delivered through an engaging approach, including interactive discussions and rewards to increase student participation. The results of the activity showed an improvement in students' understanding of basic financial literacy concepts, including how to manage money wisely and how to recognize the risks of fintech loans. High enthusiasm from the students, as well as active support from teachers and the school principal, were supporting factors for the success of this program. In conclusion, this program successfully increased students' financial literacy, making them better prepared to face future financial challenges. It is recommended that financial literacy be integrated into the formal education curriculum to cultivate a younger generation that is financially literate and capable of managing their finances wisely.

Abstract

The tourism industry plays a significant role in Indonesia's economic growth, with the hospitality sector serving as one of its main pillars. Although Padma Resort Ubud has established high service standards, the hotel still faces challenges in maintaining consistent hospitality values and staff competence in handling guest complaints professionally and empathetically. This community service activity aims to improve service quality through training based on the Service Quality Theory (Parasuraman, Zeithaml, & Berry, 1985) and Emotional Labor (Hochschild, 1983). The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design, involving participatory observation and semi-structured interviews. The results show a significant improvement in staff ability to apply active listening skills, empathetic communication, and emotional management during service interactions. Furthermore, regular briefings and continuous evaluation have proven effective in maintaining service consistency and fostering a more professional work culture. This activity demonstrates that strengthening the dimensions of empathy, responsiveness, and the practice of emotional labor can significantly enhance service quality in the hospitality sector.

Abstract

The free English course program organized by the Disdikpora of Badung Regency represents a strategic effort to improve community communication skills from an early age, particularly in a tourism-based region. This community service activity aims to develop an English learning module tailored to the characteristics of learners at the kindergarten, elementary, and junior high school levels. The program was conducted collaboratively between English Hive and Disdikpora Badung using a participatory approach, which included needs analysis, material design, and module development. Data were collected through observations, interviews with program coordinators and instructors, and identification of learners’ developmental levels and learning needs. The findings indicate that learners require communicative, contextual, and interactive materials adapted to their age levels, such as visual aids, language games, and simple dialogues based on daily situations. Based on these findings, the module was designed using a communicative approach that emphasizes speaking skills and basic language comprehension. Initial implementation showed positive responses from both learners and instructors, as well as increased engagement and confidence in using English. Therefore, the developed module is expected to enhance the effectiveness of the free course program and contribute to improving the quality of English learning for young learners in Badung Regency.

Abstract

This community service activity is one form of student dedication to society through programs tailored to the needs of the community. The program was carried out La Tano’s Canggu, a guest house located in the tourism area of canggu, Bali. Based on the observations, it was found that cross department staff still experience limitations in communicating in English, especially when interacting with international guests. This condition may affect the quality of service and guest satisfaction. As an effort to solve this problem, students implemented a pratical English training program, focusing on daily communication according to the needs of each department. This program is expected to support the improvements of service quality at La Tano’s Canggu and provide long term benefits for the developments of the tourism sector in tha Canggu area.
