Abstract

The objective of this study is to find out whether or not it is effective to use pictures in comprehending reading text to the eighth grade students of SMPN 2 Gelumbang. The methodology of the research used quasi experimental method. The populations of this study consisted of three classes of eighth grade students. The result of t-test formula in pre-test of experimental group and control group was 1.314 and the result of independent t-test formula in posttest of experimental group and control group was 5.151. The critical value in the t-table is 2.000, so that 5.151 > 2.000. It means that (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, because tobt ttab where tobt = 5.151 and ttab= 2.000. It can be concluded, using pictures in comprehending reading text to the eighth grade students of SMPN 2 Gelumbang was effective.

Abstract

Tulisan ini membahas redaksi penyajian bahasa pada salah satu buku teks yang digunakan di sekolah berdasarkan kurikulum 2013. Hal tersebut bertujuan untuk melihat apakah sebuah buku teks dapat memberikan pengalaman batin yang berbeda pada siswa sesuai dengan aspek perkembangan serta kemampuan berpikir. Selain itu, apakah bahasa penyampaian pada buku teks ini dapat membentuk karakter siswa seperti yang diharapkan sesuai dengan tuntutan kurikulum 2013. Keberadaan buku teks yang dipakai di sekolah memiliki peran penting dalam membantu kegiatan belajar mengajar, terutama sehubungan dengan pembelajaran teks yang diberikan dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia. Dalam tulisan ini, penulis memberikan gambaran mengenai penggunaan bahasa dan penyajiannya pada buku teks. Berdasarkan hasil uraian keempat bab dari buku teks Engkos Kosasih terdapat pemakaian bahasa yang tidak sesuai dengan kesantunan berbahasa, muatan isu SARA dan kemasan materi yang cukup berat berada pada jenjang SMA. Guru memiliki peran penting dalam pembelajaran. Untuk itu, guru harus mampu memilah dan memilih buku teks yang tepat dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia agar dapat membimbing siswa terampil berbahasa dengan baik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskrifsikan upaya meningkatkan kemampuan siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 155 OKU menulis pengumuman resmi dengan menerapkan teknik Copy The Master Modification. Subjek penelitian ini siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 155 OKU tahun pelajaran 2012/2013 yang berjumlah 26 siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas. Teknik penelitian yang dilakukan meliputi teknik pengumpulan data, yaitu dengan observasi dan tes, dan teknik penganalisisan datanya adalah dengan teknik deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan teknik pembelajaran Copy The Master Modification pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 155 OKU. Hal ini ditandai dengan meningkatnya hasil rata-rata belajar siswa. Peningkatan hasil rata-rata siswa pada prasiklus, yaitu 57,84 menjadi 63,61 pada siklus I, 69,46 pada siklus II. Artinya, pada siklus II seluruh siswa sudah mencapai nilai KKM , yaitu 65. Dengan demikian target penelitian telah tercapai. Berdasarkan perhitungan, maka hipotesis tindakannya yaitu “ penggunaan teknik pembelajaran Copy The Master Modification dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 155 OKU menulis pengumuman resmi” diterima. Oleh sebab itu disarankan agar ada usaha penelitian lebih lanjut dengan menjadikan penelitian ini sebagai bahan perbandingan.

Abstract

: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses pembelajaran menulis karangan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Example Non Example pada siswa kelas V SD Negeri 37 OKU, serta untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis karangan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Example Non Example. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian tindakan kelas. Teknik pengunpulan data yaitu teknik tes dan teknik observasi, serta teknik penganalisisan data dilakukan dengan data tes dan data hasil observasi. Dari seluruh populasi dan sampel 28 siswa, melalui tes menulis karangan pada siklus I terjadi peningkatan, yakni 59,07 pada tahap pra siklus lalu meningkat menjadi 73,32 pada siklus I. Namun dari hasil tersebut belum semua siswa yang mencapai standar KKM, maka dilanjutkan pada siklus yang ke II, dan terjadi peningkatan yakni, dari 73,32 pada siklus I menjadi 84,39 pada siklus II. Jadi berdasarkan hasil analisis data dan pembahasan yang dilakukan, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran example non example dapat meningkatkan hasil menulis karangan siswa kelas V SD Negeri 37 OKU

Abstract

The objective of this study was to find out the correlation between vocabulary mastery and student’s English interest toward speaking ability of the second grade students of SMP NEGERI 44 SATAP OKU; the design of the study was correlational design; to find out the problem of the study. The population of the study is all of the second grade students that have 4 classes VIIIA, VIIIB, VIIIC and VIIID with the total number 125 students and the sample is taken by using sample size to determine the number of the sample based on table of sample size, the writer got 79 students at 99% confidence level from 125 students. The data collected by using test and questionnaire, there are 2 types of test to measure the students’ ability in mastering vocabulary and students speakingability and questionnaire is used to collect the data of English interest. The techniques used to analyze the data are multiple correlation and regression by using SPSS 20, normality, homogeneity and linearity. The results of the study show that there is a positive correlation between vocabulary mastery and speaking ability toward student’s English interest, both partially and simultaneously. The positive correlation indicates that vocabulary mastery and student’s English interest tend to go up or to go down altogether with Speaking Ability

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian korelasi. Tujuannya adalah untuk mengetahui kebiasaan membaca siswa, kemampuan membaca cepat dan pemahaman siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 1 Keromongan, serta hubungan antara kebiasaan membaca dengan kemampuan membaca cepat dan pemahaman. Sampel penelitian ini berjumlah 29 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket dan tes. Berdasarkan hasil analisis angket, kebiasaan membaca siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 1 Keromongan tergolong kategori baik. Hal ini ditunjukkan dari rata-rata nilai yang diperoleh seluruh siswa yaitu 72,83. Sementara itu, kemampuan membaca cepat dan pemahaman siswa, secara keseluruhan tergolong baik. Hal ini ditunjukkan dari rata-rata nilai yang diperoleh seluruh siswa yaitu 75,86. Selanjutnya, berdasarkan hasil analisis, diketahui nilai rhitung adalah 0,46, sedangkan rtabel adalah 0,361 pada taraf signifikasi 5%. Dengan demikian, hipotesis nol (Ho) dinyatakan ditolak, sedangkan hipotesis penelitian (Ha) dinyatakan diterima, artinya bahwa terdapat korelasi yang positif antara kebiasaan membaca dengan kemampuan membaca cepat dan pemahaman pada siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 1 Keromongan Kecamatan Martapura OKU Timur.

Abstract

This study focused on analyzing the figurative language contained in the album “Detourn”by The S.I.G.I.T as non-native speakers. The aim of this research is; 1) to find out the typeof figurative language used in the album “Detourn” by The S.I.G.I.T. 2) to find out thedominant type of figurative language used in The S.I.G.I.T album “Detourn”. Researchersconducted qualitative research using song lyrics data. The result showed that; 1) there are 8types of figurative language used in the album “Detourn” namely Hyperbole (1), Irony (1),Personification (2), Synecdoche (2), Simile (3), Metonymy (11), Repetition (13), andMetaphor (18). 2) Metaphor is the most dominant type of figurative language with a total of18 expressions. There are 9 songs that have metaphors with an average of 2 expressions ineach song. The first song and the seventh song have 1 expression. The second, third, ninth,tenth and eleventh songs with 2 expressions. The fifth and sixth songs with 3 expressions.

Abstract

This study aimed at improving the tenth grade students’ reading comprehensionachievement by using RCRR Strategy. The design of this study was quasi experimentalresearch.The tenth grade students from X TKJ 1 and X TKJ 2 which consisted of 72students were taken as the sample in this study through purposive sampling. The data werecollected using 20 multiple-choice questions of reading comprehension test. Thedataanalyzed by statistic formula of T-test. Based on findings, the students’ pre test mean scorein experimental class was 55,83 and after that the students’ post test mean score was 82,64.The testing of hypotheses also proved that RCRR strategy gave significant effect onstudents’ reading comprehension on the sig (2 tailed) value was 0,025 (<0.005). From theresult it can be concluded that there was a significance different on tenth grade students’reading comprehension achievement on experimental and control class of SMK Negeri 1OKU.

Abstract

The objectives of the study were to investigate the students’ attitude toward the use of googletranslator, the students frequency of using google translator in learning process and problemswhen using GT and solutions. This study was a case study. The population of this study wasall students of English Education Department of Baturaja University. The researchers usedtotal sampling to take the sample , the sample was all the students of English EducationDepartment. The data collected through the questionnaire and interview. The result of thestudy showed that students’ attitude toward the use of google translator in leaning process werein positive category. The students responses on the attitude aspect were on interval 41% -100% that included in positive attitude. The data of the frequency of GT showed that the meanscore was on 2.34 – 3.66 that means on moderate level. In addition, the result of questionnaireasking about the problems of using GT showed that using GT was not always correct, thesolutions that students found were double check the result of GT. The next problem was aboutsignal which make students cannot access GT and the solutions were using their own effort totranslate it such as using dictionary or another resources.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the classroom management strategies ofEnglish teachers at SMP N 32 OKU and SMP N 10 OKU. This study uses a qualitativedescription where the population were the English teachers. The number ofpopulations in this study were 11 teachers from 2 schools, the sampling was done bypurposive sampling because all samples represented all grade levels. There were 8 teachers from SMPN 32 and 3 English teachers from SMPN 10 were taken as sample. Observation and documentation are used for data collection. The instruments in thisstudy were observation and documentation. The results of the observation indicatesthat the classroom management strategy of the English teachers used 1) Get set uppreparation is when the teacher will start learning in class the teacher prepares thelesson plans. 2) Make the room attractive is the teacher prepares a classroom that isfun, neat and comfortable. 3) Set classroom rules is the teacher sets a rule in theclassroom so that students can learn responsibly. 4) the teacher always providesmotivation and solutions to students. 5) the teacher being fair, namely by creatingtogetherness and paying attention to all students. The results of the supporting documentation are the RPP for the English teacher with different materials and it canbe seen by the activities that the teacher has done. This means that the classroommanagement strategy by English teacher at SMP N 32 OKU dan SMP N 10 OKU isrunning well, optimally and in accordance with existing steps.
