Abstract

Using the Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) approach, this study examines the technical, allocative, and economic efficiency of rice farming practices in the BPP Jenengan area, Ponorogo Regency, East Java, a central rice-producing area in Indonesia, where rice is the staple food. This study aims to evaluate the efficiency of agricultural activities in Ponorogo Regency. Fifty rice farmers were selected through simple random sampling for this study. Data were collected through direct interviews with these farmers and then analyzed using Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) with Frontier software version 4.0. Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) was used to estimate the model parameters. Analysis reveals that land area and seed use significantly and positively influence rice production, contributing 99% to the output. Increasing these inputs will, therefore, enhance production. Conversely, fertilizer use demonstrates a negative impact, while pesticide and labor use show no significant effects. Technical efficiency analysis reveals that most farmers (64%) operate at a technical efficiency level between 0.66 and 0.83, with an average of 0.73, indicating potential for improvement by 0.27. Furthermore, the farmer's age is a significant factor, with those aged 52-62 exhibiting a high-efficiency level, averaging 0.76. This underscores the importance of farmer age in achieving optimal efficiency. This research on rice farming efficiency can inform the development of agricultural policies and practices in Indonesia, promoting a greater focus on productivity enhancement, production cost reduction, and sustainable resource management.

Abstract

Distribution of subsidized fertilizer from the government benefits farmers because they can buy fertilizer at affordable prices and good quality. In practice, the distribution of subsidized fertilizer often experiences various obstacles. The main problems with the performance of subsidized fertilizer distribution are planning, distribution, and supervision. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of using farmer cards in distributing subsidized fertilizer in Sijunjung Regency. The type of research used is descriptive research with survey methods. The study sample was selected as 100 people using the Taro Yamame sampling method. The sample of farmers was selected purposively: farmers who had received a farmer's card. Primary data was collected using a questionnaire prepared using the Guttman scale. Data analysis was descriptively qualitatively and triangulated to validate the data and reduce bias. The research results show that the effectiveness of using farmer cards to distribute subsidized fertilizer is considered less than optimal. Due to various obstacles in the field, many farmers still have difficulty using farmer cards to redeem subsidized fertilizer. The long distance to the bank and farmers' lack of understanding regarding the procedures for using the farmer's card in banking are the main reasons for not achieving the aim of the farmer's card in distributing subsidized fertilizer in Sijunjung Regency. In terms of the effectiveness of fertilizer distribution based on the 6T indicators (right price, type, time, place, quantity, and quality), distribution is considered quite effective. However, price effectiveness is still less than optimal because the price of fertilizer purchased by farmers often exceeds the HET (Highest Retail Price) set by the government. According to the HET, this requires further monitoring to ensure that subsidized fertilizer prices remain affordable.

Abstract

The Sustainable Food Yard Program, often abbreviated as (P2L), was held to utilize yard land, which is expected to generate family income. Pangtonggal Village is an area that has a reasonably large yard to manage. This study aims. This research was conducted from November 2023 to May 2024. The sampling model in this study used the Census method or took the entire population as a sample because the population was small, so 55 respondents comprised 53 female farmers, one extension worker, and one village head. The variables used are the amount of production, labor, capital, and land area. Multiple linear regression is the model chosen to analyze the data in this study using the SPSS Statistics 24 application to reveal the influence of independent variables on income. The results of this study indicate that the primary determinant of female farmers' income in the P2L program in Pangtonggal Village is the labor variable with a coefficient of 0.313 or 3% and supported by an influence value of 0.001, which indicates that labor has complete control over the income of female farmers because labor plays a role in influencing the income of female farmers. Work is related to the availability of labor, quality, and type of labor. Competent labor has a significant influence on the income earned. Then continued with the variable quantity of production, which has an influence of 16%, capital has an influence of 16%, and land area has an influence of 19% on women's income in the P2L agricultural program in Pangtonggal Village, Proppo District, Pamekasan Regency. This study's Adjusted R Square figure was 0.730 or 73%.

Abstract

The high demand for cigarettes yearly produces tobacco waste in the form of unused tobacco leaf stalks. Tobacco leaf stalks have high burning power and sufficient calorific value to produce heat energy, so that tobacco leaf stalks can be used as a mixture of cigarettes and as a substitute for cloves. The purpose of this study is to utilize tobacco waste, especially tobacco leaf stalks, as a mixture of cigarettes to analyze consumer diversification of tobacco waste and to improve consumer preferences for Hand-Rolled Cigarettes (SKT) with a mixture of tobacco leaf stalks—this research as conducted in March-August 2024 using a quantitative method with a non-probability sampling sample data source. The data sources for this study are secondary data and primary data. The total population of respondents is 25 people. This research is based on consumer preferences for the attributes of Taste, Flavor, strength, smoke texture, and taste. The data analysis method employed was multiple linear regression using software and the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method. The study revealed that tobacco waste affected taste, flavor, strength, smoke texture, and aftertaste. The results of the software analysis tool showed a significant joint influence of 0.423 on each attribute of consumer preferences. The attributes that have a significant partial effect are flavor and aftertaste attributes. Consumer preference assessment using QFD analysis can affect product quality attributes after taste, which need improvement to meet consumer preferences. Fulfillment of product quality attributes after taste that needs improvement are sweet and bitter attributes at the end.

Abstract

This study investigates the shift in consumer purchasing patterns from traditional markets to modern meat outlets in Majene Regency, a region located in a province with a low Human Development Index (HDI) but designated as an educational center in West Sulawesi, Indonesia. In recent years, Majene has seen an influx of expatriatess with higher education, knowledge, and income, likely influencing local purchasing behaviors. This research examines the factors contributing to the observed shift in meat purchasing patterns, focusing on cultural, social, personal, and psychological factors that affect purchasing decisions. Data were collected from 100 respondents, all homemakers, over one month from June to July 2024. Homemakers were chosen due to their primary role in household purchasing and decision-making regarding market selection and meat processing. Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM PLS) analysis was conducted using WarpPLS 7.0 software to determine the influence of cultural (X1), social (X2), personal (X3), and psychological (X4) factors on purchasing decisions (Y). The results indicate that psychological factors exert the highest level of significance on purchasing decisions, with a coefficient of 0.557, followed by cultural factors (0.165), social factors (0.050), and personal factors (-0.082). The prominence of psychological factors may be attributed to the profile of respondents, many of whom are lecturers and private sector employees from outside Majene. This demographic shift and perceptions of higher quality and safety at modern outlets have encouraged transitioning from traditional markets to modern meat outlets. These findings contribute to understanding consumer behavior changes in small-city contexts and offer insights into the role of psychological and demographic factors in shaping retail preferences in developing regions.

Abstract

E-commerce sites like Shopee, Tokopedia, and Bukalapak have multiplied in Indonesia, and this has completely changed how vendors offer their goods, especially agricultural goods like apples. These platforms provide a convenient and efficient means of reaching a broader consumer base, enabling sellers to compete in a dynamic digital marketplace. This study aims to analyze the key factors influencing Apple sales on e-commerce platforms, focusing on eight variables: price (X1), rating (X2), reviews (X3), reviews with pictures/videos (X4), seller type (X5), membership duration (X6), cashback promos (X7), and free shipping promos (X8). To achieve this goal, the researchers collected secondary data from the three platforms and employed a random sampling technique to select 40 apple sellers. Multiple linear regression analysis evaluated the relationship between these variables and total sales. The findings indicate that price, the number of reviews, and membership duration are significant predictors of Apple sales. Sellers who offer competitive pricing and accumulate positive reviews are more likely to attract buyers, while longer membership duration enhances credibility and trust among consumers. This study provides actionable insights for sellers aiming to optimize their sales strategies. By focusing on pricing, encouraging customer reviews, and building a trustworthy online presence, sellers can better navigate the competitive e-commerce environment. Additionally, these findings are valuable for e-commerce platform managers to refine their promotional tools and support mechanisms. The study illuminates agricultural e-commerce dynamics and shows how digital platforms can improve Apple's market accessibility and sales.

Abstract

Livestock Production has a strategic role in supporting food security and economic development in Indonesia. West Bandung Regency is one of the interesting locations to study in the context of developing an agribusiness system. Despite its great potential, there are challenges in livestock development, such as limited market access, the lack of distribution networks, lack of knowledge about market needs and preferences, and the lack of supporting infrastructure and climate change. This study aims to determine the sub-district area that can be used as the basis for the development strategy of the dairy farming agribusiness system with specific contributions to the development of productivity, product diversification, farmer skills, and the development of supporting infrastructure. The forms of research used are quantitative and qualitative, which complement each other in a mixed approach to collect extensive data on the research results, conduct interviews to explore specific findings, and validate the findings in the context of a deeper understanding of the data found. The sample used was 10 farmers using a purposive sampling technique. Data was collected from May to July 2024. The data collected is analyzed and, if necessary, validated with participants to ensure its accuracy and relevance. Data collection techniques include LQ analysis, EFE and IFE analysis, and SWOT analysis to produce concrete strategic solutions. The instruments used in this study are an interview, observation, and questionnaire system to facilitate data processing. The results showed that the total score of the weight of internal and external factors was located in the position of quadrant I (2,464; 2,696). If the position of the quadrant is in quadrant 1, the strategy is an aggressive growth strategy. This is very advantageous because it has strengths and opportunities.

Abstract

Crude palm oil (CPO) is a prominent example of a palm oil product. It is a primary export from Indonesia and has the highest export volume globally. The development of world CPO export prices that fluctuate dramatically is followed by the movement of CPO export prices in Indonesia and Malaysia, the central exporting countries. This study will answer two objectives: to analyze the market integration between Indonesian CPO export prices and Malaysian CPO export prices and to see the response and contribution between the two variables. The data collection and analysis of this study were conducted in October 2024. The data in the present study is time series data, incorporating Indonesia and Malaysia's variable CPO export prices for 156 months, encompassing the phase from January 2010 to December 2022. In answering the research objectives using the help of market integration analysis with the VECM model approach, several tests must be conducted, ranging from data stationary, lag optimum, cointegration, and Granger causality. The second research objective employs Impulse Response Function (IRF) analysis tools to examine the impact of price changes and Forecast Error Variance Decomposition (FEDV) to predict the response and contribution between the two variables. The analysis yielded findings that indicated the presence of stationarity in both variables at the initial difference stage and the utilization of a criterion at the third lag. Based on the cointegration test's application, cointegration between the two variables states that a one-way integration relationship occurs in the export price of Indonesian CPO to Malaysia. The outcomes of the VECM method, in both the long and short term, indicate a causal correlation between the export price of Indonesian CPO and Malaysian CPO. The findings of the IRF analysis demonstrate that the export prices of Malaysian and Indonesian CPOs exhibit reciprocal responses to external shocks, both in terms of their prices and those of other market prices. The FEVD results indicate that both markets play a role in influencing CPO export prices.
