Abstract

The mouse (Mus musculus) is a widely used animal model in neuroscience research due to the structural and functional similarities of its nervous system to that of humans. However, information regarding the structure and function of the mouse central nervous system remains scattered across various publications, necessitating a synthesis to provide a comprehensive overview. This study aims to synthesize research findings on the anatomical structure and function of the mouse brain's central nervous system based on a literature review. The review covered scientific articles published between 2019 and 2024, retrieved via Google Scholar and Publish or Perish. Articles were selected based on inclusion criteria specifically, research addressing the anatomy, neuroanatomy, physiology, or function of the central nervous system in Mus musculus while irrelevant or duplicate articles, as well as those unavailable in full-text format, were excluded from the analysis. All articles meeting the criteria underwent a descriptive-comparative analysis to identify similarities, differences, and trends in findings. The synthesis reveals a consistent consensus that the cerebrum, cerebellum, brainstem, and limbic system are the primary components of the central nervous system, integrating to regulate sensory, motor, cognitive, and behavioral functions. The six-layered cerebral cortex plays a dominant role in information processing, whereas the hippocampus is the structure most frequently associated with mechanisms of memory formation, learning, and stress responses. Glutamate and GABA were identified as key neurotransmitters maintaining the balance between excitatory and inhibitory activity, while dopamine and serotonin contribute to the regulation of behavior, motivation, and emotional function. This synthesis demonstrates that the integration of neuroanatomical structures with neurotransmission mechanisms forms the fundamental basis of central nervous system function in mice, thereby serving as a conceptual framework for selecting animal models in neurological research and the development of studies on neurodegenerative diseases.

Abstract

The storytelling method is increasingly relevant for higher education, particularly in communication-oriented study programs within the digital era. This study examines the application of storytelling as a teaching method in the "Digital Storytelling" course for the Class of 61 students in the Digital Communication and Media Study Program at the Vocational School, IPB University. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews with the course instructor and students from four different classes. The results indicate that storytelling was implemented through opening narratives, case study presentations, the sharing of real-life experiences, and interactive discussions that fostered student participation. Findings also reveal that students perceived the method as an approach that helped link concepts to daily experiences, facilitated the understanding of course material, improved skills in structuring messages, fostered creativity in crafting digital narratives, and boosted confidence in conveying ideas. Consequently, storytelling is viewed as a teaching method capable of supporting a more meaningful, contextual, and participatory learning experience in digital communication education.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has changed communication patterns through the presence of podcasts as an educational and motivational medium for listeners. This study aims to determine how listeners interpret messages about discipline and self-confidence, identify key messages that are considered influential, and analyze the role of the Suara Berkelas podcast episode "Cara Menjadi Manusia Disiplin dan Percaya Diri dalam 40 Menit" in building listeners' self-confidence. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a reception analysis method based on Stuart Hall's encoding/decoding framework. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews with active students of the Vocational School, IPB University, aged 18-25 years who had listened to the entire podcast episode and were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The number of informants was determined based on the principle of data saturation. The results showed that informants interpreted discipline as an internal commitment to remain productive regardless of mood conditions, while self-confidence was interpreted as the courage to start even in imperfect conditions. The motivational messages in the podcast were perceived to be able to encourage informants to reflect on procrastination habits and motivate the emergence of more active actions in making decisions in everyday academic and social life. Based on these findings, listeners positively perceive the Suara Berkelas podcast as a medium that supports the development of discipline and self-confidence through an interpretation process influenced by each informant's personal experiences and circumstances.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perceptions of IPB University students towards the personal branding of educational figures on TikTok with a case study of Jerome Polin. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with three active IPB University students from different study programs, who actively use TikTok and follow the content of @jeromepolin98. Informants were selected purposively based on their experience in accessing and observing Jerome Polin's educational content. The number of informants was limited because the study focused on exploring experiences and perceptions in depth, so the findings are not intended to be generalized to all IPB University students. The results show that the informants' positive perceptions of Jerome Polin's personal branding are mainly formed through the consistency of specialization, differentiation, and digital identity displayed in the content. Informants perceive Jerome as an educational figure who is skilled, communicative, authentic, and trustworthy, which is related to his academic background in Japan and the consistency of delivering educational messages. The short video format, use of light language, and the combination of educational and entertainment elements are perceived to help make the message more interesting and easily accepted. The novelty of this research lies in understanding how students interpret the personal branding of educational figures through a combination of credibility, differentiation, and an edutainment approach in the context of TikTok. This study concludes that digital identity consistency, credibility, and the presentation of edutainment content are perceived to support the acceptance of Jerome Polin as an educational figure on TikTok.

Abstract

This study aims to explore students' perceptions of the social media framing phenomenon on TikTok regarding the poisoning case in the Free Nutritional Meal Program (MBG). The study used a descriptive qualitative method, collecting data through in-depth interviews with students from IPB University who actively use TikTok and were selected using purposive sampling based on the criteria of actively accessing TikTok content related to the MBG issue and being willing to participate as research informants. The results indicate two typologies of student perceptions in responding to content framing. The first group tends to accept the emotional narratives presented in TikTok content, contributing to the emergence of skeptical perceptions of the government. Meanwhile, the second group demonstrates a critical attitude by being able to identify the framing strategies used by content creators and cross-checking them with mainstream media before forming perceptions. The novelty of this study lies in identifying typologies of student perceptions in responding to the framing of TikTok content related to the Free Nutritional Meal Program issue and explaining the role of digital media literacy in mediating the process of forming these perceptions. This study concludes that dramatic framing in TikTok content is perceived as capable of evoking an emotional response from the audience, while students' digital media literacy levels act as information filters in the process of forming opinions on public policy issues.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the limited use of instructional media for the Pancasila Education subject in Grade III at SDN Mrican 1, which resulted in low student engagement during the learning process. Furthermore, the topic regarding the application of Pancasila principles was considered difficult for students to grasp, creating a need for instructional media. The objective of this study was to determine the validity of "quartet" card media based on the "pictorial riddle" approach, specifically for the topic of applying Pancasila principles. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which comprises the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. However, the scope of this study was limited to the development stage, as the primary goal was to produce valid media through an expert validation process. Data were collected using validation sheets administered to subject matter experts and media experts. The results indicated that the validation score from the subject matter expert reached 94%, classifying it as "highly valid." Similarly, the validation score from the media expert was 88%, also falling into the "highly valid" category. The average validation score from both experts was 91%, placing it in the "highly valid" category. Based on these results, the quartet card instructional media featuring pictorial riddles and covering the application of Pancasila principles met the criteria for high validity and demonstrated potential for use as a learning support tool.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of engagement and understanding among fifth-grade students at SDN Mrican 1 regarding the Pancasila Education subject, specifically the topic of East Java regional culture. Instruction dominated by lecture methods and limited media led to student boredom, a lack of focus, and difficulty retaining information, despite the school possessing technology-based learning facilities that had not been optimally utilized. This study aimed to determine the validity of the "Sikarji" interactive learning media. Sikarji incorporates content on East Java regional culture combined with interactive features such as drag-and-drop activities and memory-matching cards designed to make learning more engaging. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model; however, the scope was limited to the ADD stages (Analysis, Design, and Development/Validation). Validation sheets assessed by subject matter experts and media experts served as the research instruments. The results indicated a validity score of 96% from subject matter experts and 86.6% from media experts. The average validation score reached 91.3%, placing it in the "highly valid" category. Consequently, the Sikarji interactive learning media is deemed highly valid and suitable for implementation as a learning tool to assist students in understanding East Java regional culture within the Pancasila Education curriculum.

Abstract

Teacher work discipline is a cornerstone of instructional effectiveness and the enhancement of educational quality. However, at SMP Negeri 2 Kotamobagu, a decline in motivation was observed among teachers nearing retirement, alongside a "comfort zone" phenomenon among tenured teachers, necessitating specific interventions by the school principal. This study aims to analyze the principal's leadership in improving teacher work discipline and to describe the level of work discipline among teachers at the school. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method was employed. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, involving the principal and teachers as informants. Data validity was verified using source and technique triangulation, followed by analysis involving data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the level of teacher work discipline is generally good demonstrated by punctuality and professional responsibility despite fluctuations within certain teacher groups. The study’s novelty lies in highlighting that shifting from regulation-based compliance to authentic professional awareness requires a humanistic and segmented leadership approach. In conclusion, a combination of affective role-modeling, dialogic guidance, and educational supervision constitutes the most effective strategy for addressing motivational stagnation and fostering teacher discipline. The practical implications of this study emphasize the need for principals to adopt an integrative-persuasive leadership style tailored to the teachers' psychological career stages to sustain a professional work culture.

Abstract

The limited use of game-based learning media at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) level poses a significant challenge to creating meaningful, enjoyable learning experiences and interactive classroom environments. This study employs a literature review method to examine how the implementation of WordWall as a game-based learning tool can foster an interactive classroom environment. Data were gathered by analyzing various articles and journals relevant to the topic. The findings indicate that the WordWall platform effectively boosts student interest, enthusiasm, and active participation in both group and individual learning activities, while also serving as a tool for assessing student comprehension. Optimal results from this implementation depend on the availability of supporting facilities and the teacher's proficiency in operating the platform and utilizing its features including managing situations where network disruptions occur. However, to prevent student boredom resulting from repetitive use of the same medium, teachers should strive for creativity by integrating WordWall with a variety of other learning media and methods.
