Abstract

Medical knowledge of HIV and AIDS is rapidly evolving, leading to increased understanding of the disease, its immunology, and clinical manifestations. Antiretroviral therapy has provided a means of controlling but not curing the disease. However, new challenges are emerging. A vaccine is one prevention tool that remains elusive. Research over the past 40 years illustrates how difficult it is to induce effective immunity against this virus. Progress of vaccine development has been hindered by the extensive genetic variability of HIV, our limited understanding of immune responses required to protect against HIV acquisition, and funding issues. Since the beginning of HIV vaccine development, it is worth noting that there have been many advances and innovations to make HIV vaccine more effective and safer.

Abstract

Osteoarthritis of the medial compartment of the knee is one of the common degenerative diseases among the adult population, causing chronic pain, stiffness, and limited joint function. High Tibial Osteotomy (HTO) has become an important treatment option to address deformity and reduce symptoms in patients with varus osteoarthritis. Objectives: This study aimed to conduct a systematic review of the existing literature to evaluate the efficacy of High Tibial Osteotomy in the treatment of osteoarthritis of the medial compartment of the knee. A literature search was conducted through PubMed, Google Scholar, and Cochrane Library databases for studies that met the inclusion criteria. Clinical outcomes, including improvement in pain, joint function, and radiological changes, were extracted and synthesized to provide a comprehensive picture of the efficacy of HTO. The results of the systematic review showed that High Tibial Osteotomy significantly reduced pain, improved joint function, and slowed disease progression in most patients with osteoarthritis of the medial compartment of the knee. Despite variations in surgical technique and reported clinical outcomes, HTO is generally considered an effective and sustainable procedure in the management of varus osteoarthritis. High Tibial Osteotomy shows strong promise as an important treatment option for patients with medial compartment osteoarthritis of the knee. However, it is important to take into account individual patient characteristics and consider additional therapies to maximize long-term outcomes. Further research is needed to deepen our understanding of this technique and to optimize its benefits in the treatment of osteoarthritis.

Abstract

Construction project management prioritizes the achievement of three main objectives: cost, quality, and time. This study evaluates a road widening project in Mojokerto Regency with a target completion time of 150 days. To prevent delays and cost overruns, researchers used the Earned Value method to identify early warnings regarding project performance. This method integrates time and cost values through measurements of Cost Variance (CV), Schedule Variance (SV), Cost Performance Index (CPI), Schedule Performance Index (SPI), Estimated at Completion (EAC), and Estimated Schedule at Completion (EAC). The research findings show that additional costs required (ETC) reached Rp 3,276,704,110.14, with additional time (ETS) up to week 12 being 87 days. The change in project costs (EAC) reached Rp 3,961,767,811.01 from the contract cost, while the project completion time (EAS) was 171 days. The analysis indicates that the construction service provider has implemented an efficient implementation method with consistent supervision, ensuring the smooth progress of the project.
