Abstract

Whistleblowing System has been internationally recognized as an effective way to combat corruption, both within an organization and at a national level. This case study research aims to improve the governance of complaint handling at Institution XYZ, particularly in the operations related to complaint management, through a gap analysis using Clause 8 of ISO 37002:2021. Therefore, this study is limited to assessing the conformity of complaint handling in accordance with Clause 8 of ISO 37002:2021. Data was obtained through document analysis and in-depth interviews. The research data was analyzed descriptively and qualitatively to gain a deep and comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon, focusing on the meaning and interpretation of the data. Based on the analysis, it was found that the implementation of the Whistleblowing Management System (WMS) had been partially carried out by Institution XYZ. Improvements are needed in the determination of locations for raising awareness about the complaint channels based on the number of complaints, as well as in developing policies for the protection of whistleblowers and employees. This study is expected to serve as an analytical tool for policy-making at Institution XYZ and to provide information on WMS implementation for other institutions.

Abstract

Environmental degradation poses a significant challenge globally, with Southeast Asia projected to face severe climate change impacts by 2050. This study investigates the influence of corporate anti-corruption commitment on environmental performance in ASEAN-5 countries (Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines) from 2017-2022. Using data from 108 listed companies, the research examines how anti-corruption policies affect environmental management, measured by the Environmental Pillar Score (ES), and the moderating role of board independence. Regression methods are employed to test the relationships between the independent variable, anti-corruption commitment, and the dependent variable, environmental performance, as well as to evaluate the moderating effect of board independence. Findings reveal a positive and significant impact of anti-corruption commitment on environmental performance, underscoring the necessity for companies to balance stakeholder contributions and business operations. Anti-corruption measures foster transparency and compliance with environmental regulations, preventing illegal practices that harm both companies and economic growth. However, board independence does not significantly influence this relationship, potentially due to insufficient professional competence and ineffective environmental governance. The study suggests that while independent boards are crucial for accountability, their role in environmental sustainability needs enhancement through targeted training programs. This research highlights the importance of ethical corporate practices and robust governance frameworks in achieving sustainable business operations and environmental protection in Southeast Asia.

Abstract

Effective project management is crucial for the successful completion of construction projects, including the construction of a dormitory at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Tulangan. Challenges such as design changes, adverse weather conditions, and limited labor resources impact the project's progress. The Earned Value Method is used to monitor project performance by analyzing indicators like BCWS, BCWP, ACWP, SV, CV, SPI, and CPI. This analysis shows that the project initially experienced delays and exceeded budget costs, but the situation improved significantly over time. Despite weekly variations in costs, the project remained on a financially manageable track. The conclusion from this analysis is that while the project faced time delays, cost performance remained under control. Recommendations for improvement include more thorough planning, better resource management, and quicker responses to changes.

Abstract

The implementation of the Situbondo – Ketapang – Banyuwangi Road and Bridge Preservation Project experienced changes in the area being worked on, requiring additional design. Issues arose when the overlay asphalt mix work was halted to await test results for Aspal Modiv PG – 70 from the Pusjatan Bandung Road Materials Laboratory, causing a delay in the 40th week by -0.813%. Delays primarily occurred in the AC - WC and AC - BC asphalt work, affecting project performance. A cost and time analysis was necessary to address this issue. The Earned Value Method (EVM) was used to determine the project's duration and cost until initial handover. The study results indicated that the project cost performance with a CPI > 1 was good, but an SPI of 0.983 < 1 indicated delays. The estimated final project cost is Rp 112,439,121,070.91, with an estimated completion time of 453 days, 3 days longer than the planned schedule.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly affected the global health sector, especially in patients with comorbidities such as type-2 diabetes mellitus and hypertension. Patients with these comorbidities require special attention and proper handling during the COVID-19 treatment process, given the higher risk of complications in this group. Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital, as a referral center for COVID-19 in Indonesia, faces the complexity of handling patients who often have complicated clinical conditions which are also related to the costs required. Therefore, analyzing the cost and treatment of COVID-19 patients who also suffer from comorbidities such as hypertension, type-2 diabetes mellitus, type-2 diabetes mellitus and hypertension is essential to improve care management. This study took place from January to July 2021 at Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital. The purpose of the study was to determine the cost and treatment of COVID-19 and the relationship between severity and outcomes. The method used was retrospective observational in COVID-19 patients with these comorbidities. The results showed that the largest cost expenditure came from room and accommodation costs. The highest average total cost came from a combination of comorbid hypertension and type-2 DM. The frequently used treatment profile showed antiviral therapy (favipirapir), antibiotics (Levofloxacin and Azithromycin), anticoagulants (heparin), corticosteroids (dexamethasone), and symptomatic (paracetamol). Improvement in clinical condition was the highest clinical outcome. The result of Chi-Square test analysis between severity and clinical outcome was significant (p-value 0.007<0.05). In conclusion, the treatment profile is adjusted to the clinical condition and the severity of COVID-19 affecting the clinical outcome.

To achieve this, BK teachers underwent training focused on various skills including problem identification, problem analysis, solution development, and continuous monitoring. The objective was to equip BK teachers with the necessary tools and techniques to address challenges and provide meaningful guidance to students. The results of the training indicated a high level of enthusiasm among BK teachers in Manggarai Regency. Feedback assessments showed positive ratings, particularly in the areas of problem identification, problem analysis, solution development, and continuous monitoring plans, all of which received an average rating of 3.66, categorizing them as "good." However, the aspect of solution implementation work plans received a slightly lower rating of 3.1, indicating room for improvement. This finding highlights the need for continued attention and support from BK teachers, facilitators, school supervisors, officials, and the community to enhance the quality of guidance and counseling services further. Improving the solution implementation work plans can lead to more effective problem-solving strategies and contribute to overall improvements in learning and education quality throughout Manggarai Regency. In conclusion, while the training showed positive outcomes and high enthusiasm among participants, ongoing efforts and collaboration are necessary to sustain and build upon these improvements in guidance and counseling services for the benefit of students and educational institutions in the region.
