Abstract

Sexual harassment ranks first among the cases of sexual violence in educational institutions. The college has become one of the educational institutions with a high case rate. Given that sexual harassment can harm a person as it can have a physical, psychological, and social impact, it is necessary to prevent sexual abuse with personal safety skills consisting of recognize, resist, and report. One of the factors that influences the prevention of sexual harassment is knowledge. The aim of this study is to look at the relationship between knowledge and personal safety skills as behavioral efforts to prevent sexual harassment in students. This research is a quantitative analysis of the type of observational analytics with cross sectional design. Respondents to this study were active students of Airlangga University in the academic year 2023/2024 and a total of 420 respondents were obtained using accidental sampling method. The data collection uses questionnaires and is processed with Spearman's analysis that shows the strength of the relationship. The results show a very strong relationshiip (r=0.824) between knowledge and personal safety skills as an attempt to prevent sexual harassment in students. It is hoped that the campus will maximize its efforts to prevent sexual harassment by increasing the knowledge of students and citizens of the campus about sexual abuse, facilitating training in personal safety or self-care skills, expanding media information and access services for reporting sexual assault, as well as monitoring and periodically evaluating programmes that have been conducted in the campus area.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of the Saudization policy on Indonesian migrant workers in Saudi Arabia. Saudization is a Saudi government initiative that aims to increase local labor participation in the economy, reduce dependence on foreign labor, and is part of a broader effort designed under Vision 2030. This research uses qualitative methods through literature review and analysis of relevant government policies to assess how this policy affects employment opportunities, working conditions, and remittances sent by Indonesian migrant workers. The results show that Saudization has resulted in a significant decrease in employment opportunities for Indonesian migrant workers, with the construction sector experiencing a decrease in migrant worker acceptance of up to 20% and a 25% decrease in remittances to Indonesia. Working conditions for migrant workers remaining in Saudi Arabia have also deteriorated, including a 15% reduction in average wages. In response, migrant workers are adopting various adaptation strategies, including skills upgrading, diversification of migration destinations, and self-employment. The Indonesian government has increased diplomatic efforts to protect migrant workers, signed new agreements for worker protection, and promoted training to improve workers' skills. This study suggests that policies such as Saudization require a broader international coordination approach to ensure that national labor policies do not harm migrant workers and disrupt the global economy.

Abstract

Caffeine is a widely recognized stimulant that affects the central nervous system and has garnered attention in sports, particularly swimming, for its potential to enhance physical performance. This literature review examines the complex relationship between caffeine consumption and swimming performance, focusing on factors such as dosage, timing, and individual responses. Evidence suggests that caffeine can improve sprint performance, with studies indicating a 2-3% increase in speed for short distances (50-100 meters) and a 1.5-2.0% reduction in times for mid-distance events (200-400 meters). Optimal caffeine intake ranges from 3-6 mg/kg body weight, consumed 30-60 minutes prior to competition, although excessive intake may lead to adverse effects. Individual variability, influenced by genetics and physiological conditions, plays a significant role in performance outcomes. While caffeine shows promise as an ergogenic aid, careful consideration of individual differences and potential side effects is essential. Further research is needed to refine understanding of caffeine's impact on swimming performance and to develop tailored recommendations for athletes and coaches.

Abstract

This study examines the political awareness and perceptions of Generation Z members of the Australia-Indonesia Youth Association (AIYA) Yogyakarta through TikTok. It focuses on the phenomenon of Gen Z, often seen as politically indifferent, whose awareness is influenced by political content on TikTok. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews exploring cross-cultural political perceptions among Indonesian and Australian AIYA members. The study found that TikTok effectively serves as a platform for political campaigns, increasing political awareness among Gen Z. Members access political content, engage in discussions, and form opinions on issues like political campaigns and religious tolerance, highlighting the platform’s role in reshaping political communication in the digital era. TikTok’s algorithm tailors content to resonate with Gen Z’s digital-native traits, fostering selective and critical engagement as they seek, verify, and analyze information. Australian AIYA members view Indonesia's political campaign system as reflective of unique social and cultural dynamics. Religious tolerance, a key human rights issue, emerges as essential in assessing a country's democratic quality. Thus, Gen Z’s political awareness transcends Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), reflecting active involvement and individual responsibility in political consciousness.
