Abstract

Skin photoaging refers to degenerative changes in the skin primarily triggered by chronic exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, especially UV-B. This exposure leads to the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), stimulates inflammatory responses, and accelerates collagen breakdown through the activation of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). These processes affect the extracellular matrix and skin homeostasis, and contribute to visible signs such as wrinkles, skin dryness, and loss of elasticity. Natural antioxidants in topical formulations have gained attention for their protective effects. Kombucha, a fermented tea rich in polyphenols, organic acids, and flavonoids has shown potential in reducing MMP-1 expression, enhancing TGF-β signaling, and stimulating collagen production. When fermented with Hibiscus sabdariffa (rosella), its antioxidant activity is further enhanced. This review highlights the molecular mechanism of photoaging and highlights the therapeutic potential of Kombucha Roella as a natural topical agent. Despite promising results, further in vivo and clinical studies are needed to confirm its efficacy.

Abstract

The growth of APIs, including SOAP, REST, and gRPC, has made security a critical priority, with incidents such as those in the 2023 Paloalto report highlighting the financial losses resulting from API breaches. While existing tools focus on REST APIs, gRPC remains underserved, requiring time-consuming manual testing. This research aims to address this gap by proposing a security testing framework tailored to gRPC, integrating automated methods that DevSecOps can use to improve efficiency. gRPC, built on HTTP/2, uses a binary message format and client stubs generated from proto files, creating unique challenges for testing. The methodology involves extracting payloads, generating stubs from proto files, creating test cases, and executing automated tests for vulnerabilities such as SQL Injection and XSS. By analyzing gRPC components and adapting common API security practices, the framework identifies vulnerabilities, streamlines testing, and reduces manual effort. It automates processes such as payload generation and stub generation, enabling faster and more reliable testing compared to traditional methods. Results demonstrate that GSTF reduces testing time by 99% compared to manual methods while maintaining comprehensive coverage. Although some false positives were noted, the framework effectively identifies critical vulnerabilities and integrates seamlessly with DevSecOps pipelines. This approach not only improves testing efficiency by significantly reducing time but also sets a benchmark for secure API development. This study provides a practical solution for enhancing gRPC security, offering significant efficiency gains and establishing a foundation for future advancements in API security automation.

Abstract

Bird strikes pose a major risk to the safe operation of aircraft. This study evaluates a sandwich structure design with a lattice material as a helicopter engine protection device. Advances in additive manufacturing have enabled the advancement and fabrication of architected cellular materials. The lattice structures were assessed computationally through nonlinear dynamic finite element method, considering variations in topology, materials, and relative density. The Taguchi approach was used to establish the ideal lattice structure by maximizing specific energy absorption (SEA). The results showed that a body-centered cubic Z (BCCZ) lattice structure using Ti-6Al-4V material and 30% relative density performed the best at absorbing impact energy. Additionally, the sandwich structure that uses BCCZ lattice, effectively protected the engine cowling under the operational speed of a helicopter. The findings indicate that the BCCZ lattice core enhances the impact resistance of composite materials by minimizing structural deformation. Moreover, a quasi-isotropic layup combined with a lattice material sandwich plate provides superior impact resistance, deformation control, and damage mitigation compared to other sandwich designs.

Abstract

The shipping sector in Indonesia is growing rapidly, but fierce competition and the dominance of foreign vessels are forcing shipping companies to improve fuel efficiency, crew productivity, and revenue. This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the role of fleet management in improving the operational performance of shipping companies. The approach used is qualitative descriptive, with data collection through literature review and interviews. Data analysis is conducted thematically, starting from data reduction, presentation in narrative form, to drawing conclusions to identify patterns. The results of the study show that the implementation of effective fleet management, including route planning, fuel consumption monitoring, and ship maintenance scheduling, can reduce fuel consumption. Crew productivity increases through systematic assignments, continuous training, and the use of fleet monitoring technology, which has a positive impact on shipping safety and delivery smoothness. This impact is also reflected in increased company revenue through reduced operational costs and improved profit margins. The implications of the research findings highlight the importance of an integrated fleet management strategy to enhance operational efficiency, crew productivity, and the competitiveness of shipping companies such as those in Indonesia

Abstract

Curling’s ulcer, a stress-induced gastrointestinal injury, commonly occurs in patients with major burns due to ischemia and mucosal necrosis. Complications may include perforation, hemorrhagic shock, and death. While standard treatments involve PPIs, sucralfate, and early enteral feeding, probiotics may help restore gut microbiota, and vitamin D can reduce inflammation and dysbiosis. However, studies on their combined efficacy remain limited, particularly in Indonesia. This research aims to evaluate whether oral probiotics and vitamin D reduce TNF-α levels and gastrointestinal damage in Wistar rats with major burns. The study employed an experimental design using 32 Wistar rats with 25% TBSA burns. Subjects were divided into four groups: control (K), probiotics only (P1), vitamin D only (P2), and probiotics + vitamin D (P3). Interventions were administered for two weeks. Measured parameters included blood and tissue TNF-α levels, as well as gastric and intestinal histopathology. Data were analyzed using SPSS. Results showed that group P3 had the lowest tissue TNF-α levels (136.11 ± 50.14; p = 0.046) and intestinal mucosal thickness (914.54 ± 170.08; p = 0.007). Indicators of gastric damage—macrophage count, necrosis, and bleeding—were significantly reduced in the treatment groups (p = 0.000). No significant difference was observed in villi width (p = 0.974). Combined oral probiotics and vitamin D significantly reduced tissue TNF-α levels and gastrointestinal damage, with better outcomes than single-agent treatments. This combination therapy shows potential as an adjunctive approach for gastrointestinal protection in major burns.

Abstract

The development of technology in the digital era requires the readiness of Vocational High School students, especially in the field of technology and information systems, to optimize the use of technology in the learning process. This challenge is related to students’ academic engagement, which is influenced by technology self-efficacy and learning motivation. This study aims to analyze the relationship between technology self-efficacy and academic engagement, as well as to examine the mediating role of learning motivation in this relationship. This study employs a non-experimental quantitative approach with a correlational design involving students majoring in Network and Application Information Systems, Computer and Network Engineering, and Software Engineering at SMK X Jakarta. The instruments used include the School Engagement Measure, the Computer User Self-Efficacy Scale, and the Academic Motivation Scale. Data collection was conducted online, and data analysis was carried out using SEM through JASP and SmartPLS software. The results of the analysis show that technology self-efficacy has a significant effect on academic engagement, both directly and indirectly through learning motivation as a partial mediator. These findings confirm that technology self-efficacy and learning motivation are key factors in enhancing the academic engagement of vocational school students. The practical implications of this research encourage schools and educators to design digital-based training and intervention programs aimed at improving technology self-efficacy and learning motivation, so that the academic engagement of vocational school students can be optimized in facing the challenges of the digital-era workforce.

Abstract

In the Cisumdawu Toll Road Construction Package 5A, at the STA 40+125–STA 40+225 area, soil material cannot be used for embankment work because the existing soil condition is clay shale. This study aims to evaluate EPS geofoam material as a substitute for soil material because it is lighter and safer from the aspects of occupational safety, occupational health, and the environment. This study uses a qualitative research design with a descriptive method, with data collected from 13 informants ranging from staff-level employees to management among the work implementers. The data were obtained through interviews with informants and observations conducted both in the field and via related documents. The data analysis techniques applied include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing with verification. The results of this study show that unstable clay shale soil, which is not strong enough to withstand the embankment load, causes cracks and landslides; HSE risk management for handling cracks and landslides in the Cisumdawu Project Package 5A has not yet been implemented; the use of EPS geofoam can minimize the potential for work accidents, reduce the risk of occupational diseases, and lower the potential for environmental pollution. Researchers recommend using EPS geofoam because it fulfills occupational safety, occupational health, and environmental requirements.

Abstract

Industrial sectors categorized as high-risk industries, such as oleochemical manufacturing, are increasingly exposed to multiple hazards and safety-related challenges due to process complexity, the use of hazardous materials, and the critical role of human behavior. This research aims to examine the influence of safety communication on safety culture and operational excellence in high-risk industries within PT SCM, a leading oleochemical company in Indonesia. The objective of this study is to empirically determine the extent to which safety communication serves as a determinant in shaping safety-related behavior and enhancing organizational performance in high-risk plants. Utilizing a quantitative research design, data were gathered from 421 employees through structured questionnaires and subsequently analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The findings indicate that safety communication exerts a statistically significant impact on the internalization of safety culture (β = 0.724, p < 0.001) and contributes both directly (β = 0.368) and indirectly (β = 0.317) to the attainment of operational excellence. Furthermore, the analysis reveals that direct communication approaches, such as safety briefings, safety talks, and management walk-throughs, are more effective than symbolic or non-verbal modes. The study concludes that safety communication is not merely an administrative tool but a strategic organizational mechanism, essential for fostering employee engagement, reinforcing safe behavior, and sustaining high-performance outcomes within the organization.

Abstract

This study examines the destination image differences travel destination advertisements based on the construal level and spatial distance strategies using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) test. This study also tested the effect of destination image towards visit intention using the Macro PROCESS with the SPSS software. This research used a factorial design of 2 construal level (high vs low) x 2 spatial distance (far vs near) involving 120 student participants. Before doing the main test, in this study, a manipulation check was made to ensure that the participants understood the scenario and stimuli created by the researcher. The measured variable consisted of destination image (5 indicators), and visit intention (5 indicators). All of the measures used 5 points Likert scale. In this study, using the ANOVA's main effect, different construal level and spatial distance conditions resulted in significant differences in destination image. It was also found that the combination between construal level and spatial distance produced a significant interaction effect difference in destination image. This study also proved that destination image had a positive effect on reservation intention.

Abstract

The global palm oil industry faces increasing pressure to eliminate deforestation from its supply chains, driven by international commitments such as the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) standards, and Indonesia’s Forest and Other Land Use (FOLU) Net Sink 2030 commitment. These frameworks require effective mechanisms to identify and safeguard ecologically and socially valuable landscapes within agricultural frontiers. Integrating High Conservation Value (HCV) principles into land use planning is therefore critical to balancing commodity production, biodiversity conservation, and community rights. This study analyzes how oil palm development in Mandailing Natal, North Sumatra, can align with High Conservation Value (HCV) protection. Using a 2024 district-wide ABKT-HCS (High Conservation Value and High Carbon Stock) assessment and scenario modeling, the study examines forest encroachment, institutional fragmentation, and policy gaps undermining sustainable land use. Although more than half of the district is legally defined as forest, rapid plantation expansion—driven by smallholder pressures, tenure insecurity, and weak inter-agency coordination—continues to erode ecological integrity and cultural landscapes. Scenario analysis shows that improving yields through Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and participatory zoning can enhance productivity without new deforestation. The paper recommends integrating ABKT spatial data into formal land-use planning, institutionalizing Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC), and implementing community-based monitoring. These strategies support a jurisdictional sustainability transition consistent with Indonesia’s FOLU Net Sink 2030 objective.
