Abstract

Market discipline, which concerns aspects of monitoring and the ability of market participants to play a role in influencing management behavior, is an aspect of the financial industry that has not yet clearly existed in the life insurance industry in Indonesia.  This condition is the background of a study that aims to determine the possibility of market discipline in the life insurance industry in Indonesia through observation of the relationship between the acquisition of investment returns of life insurance companies with the acquisition of new business and termination of contracts or lapse policies.  Testing based on sample data from 27 life insurance companies (Financial Statements published by OJK) resulted that: can accept the hypothesis of a positive correlation (unidirectional) trend between investment returns and new businesses, but cannot accept the hypothesis that there is a negative tendency (not in the same direction) between investment returns and policy lapse.  The market (life insurance consumers) has not been able to express disapproval of the company's performance that is not in accordance with the wishes.

Abstract

Pelican Crossing is a crossing with a signaling device that is operated by pedestrians and will stop the flow of vehicle traffic. Pedestrians must press a button to request green time from vehicle drivers so that vehicle drivers stop and pedestrians can cross the road. As a metropolitan city, Central Jakarta is full of activity. The increase in the number of vehicles is not the main factor causing congestion. There are other factors such as the movement of pedestrians crossing the road using Pelican Crossing, causing queues and delays. This study aims to analyze the effect of pedestrians crossing at pelican crossing on the queue length of vehicles, to analyze the characteristics of traffic flow and pedestrians due to pelican crossing and to apply a model that connects the characteristics of traffic flow and pedestrians at pelican crossing. The research was conducted by surveying the existing traffic conditions. The results of the research show that after calculating the PV2 value, we can see the discrepancy in the existing pelican crossing facilities on Jalan MH Thamrin and Jalan Sudirman based on the calculation of pedestrian crossings and traffic volume, which in calculating the PV2 value recommends a non-level crossing type.

Abstract

Pneumonia caused more than 2,56 million deaths in 2017 worldwide. With the high number of pneumonia sufferers, the use of antibiotics will also increase. This study aims to describe the quantity of antibiotic use in pneumonia patients using the Systematic Literature Review method. The literature search was conducted through the PubMed, Sciencedirect, Mendeley, BMC, and Google Scholar databases. The literature used is a journal of the last 10 years that discusses the use of antibiotics in pneumonia patients calculated by the ATC/DDD system. Of the total 19 journals included in the study, 8 journals were from Indonesia. A total of 5 journals discussed antibiotics used in CAP (Community-Acquired Pneumonia), 2 journals in HAP (Hospital-Acquired Pneumonia), 2 journals in VAP (Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia), 2 journals were non-specific, and the remainder covered several types of pneumonia. The class of antibiotics with the highest DDD value is fluoroquinolones, with an average use of 41,81 DDD/100 patient-days; 17,29 DDD/100 bed days; and 0,0696 DDD/1000 inhabitants per day, and third-generation cephalosporins, with an average use of 15,86 DDD/100 patient-days and 28,31 DDD/100 bed days. The antibiotic with the highest DDD value was levofloxacin, with an average use of 31,29 DDD/100 patient-days; 12,22 DDD/100 bed days; and 0,0612 DDD/1000 inhabitants per day, and ceftriaxone, with an average use of 12,51 DDD/100 patient-days and 26,33 DDD/100 bed days. The most widely used antibiotics in the treatment of CAP and HAP are third-generation cephalosporins, while penicillin is the most commonly used in VAP.

Abstract

The stem of Brotowali and the rhizome of Temulawak are among the ingredients used in the production of traditional herbal medicine, specifically Brotowali and Temulawak herbal concoctions. These herbal mixtures are also consumed by pregnant women. The extracts from Brotowali stem and Temulawak rhizome contain bioactive antioxidants of the flavonoid group. Flavonoid compounds can inhibit the activities of phosphodiesterase enzymes that hydrolyze cAMP, and an elevated concentration of cAMP can impede growth acceleration. The aim of this research is to determine the teratogenic effects on white mouse fetuses after the administration of Brotowali stem and Temulawak rhizome extracts. The study involved 49 white mice (Mus musculus) divided into 5 groups. The first test group was given 0.5% Na CMC and used as the negative control, the second test group was injected with intravenous Cyclophosphamide at 50 mg/kg BW for the positive control. The groups included EB Dose 1120, ET Dose 1120, Dose 1 EBT 2:1, Dose 2 EBT 1:2, and Dose 3 EBT 1:1. Brotowali stem and Temulawak rhizome extracts were administered during the organogenesis period, and on the 18th day, the mice were subjected to laparotomy to collect the fetuses. Biometric, gross morphological, and skeletal abnormality observations were conducted to assess the effects of Brotowali stem and Temulawak rhizome extract administration. The research results indicate that Brotowali stem and Temulawak rhizome extracts have the potential to cause teratogenic effects, particularly at Dose 3 EBT 1:1.

Abstract

Indonesia is committed to Undang-Undang Nomor 16 Tahun 2016 concerning the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. To support this commitment, the role of banking, including Bank XYZ, is crucial in financing clean energy projects and other business sectors. Although Bank XYZ has shown growth in green financing since 2016, there are notes regarding financing in the coal sector between October 2018 and October 2020, as well as a decline in the ranking in the 2022 Bank Ranking Report. Therefore, an evaluation of the concept of green banking at Bank XYZ is needed to maintain its growth and ensure the effectiveness of its implementation from 2017 to 2022. This research employs a qualitative approach to analyze the implementation of green banking at Bank XYZ. The evaluation is conducted through interviews with the Risk Management Division and an analysis of sustainability reports using the Green Banking Disclosure Index (GBDI). Bank XYZ has proven to implement the concept of green banking transparently, but there are shortcomings such as a lack of transparency in sustainability budgeting, attention to debtors, internal controls, sustainability campaigns, and the use of renewable technology. This research is expected to enhance the quality of green banking implementation at Bank XYZ, support environmental preservation, and address existing weaknesses.
