Abstract

Background. The purpose of this research was to know the effect of defoliation periode and liquid fertlizer made of traditional market organic wastes dosage on the heights plant and fresh weight of setaria grass (setaria splendida stapf). Materials and methods. The material used is setaria grass as many as 756 cuttings, 3,25 liter traditional market waste liquid organic fertilizer, and 5,75liter water. The research method is experimental and the design used is Completely Randomized Design (CRD) the pattern faktorial with 12 treatments and 3 replications. Results. The results of research showed that effect defoliation periode for highest average height plant of setaria grass on the treatment W49 that is 49,61 cm. The results of research showed that effect defoliation periode for lowest average height plant of setaria grass on the treatment W35 that is 36,79 cm. The results of research showed that effect defoliation periode for highest average fresh weight of setaria grass on the treatment W49 that is 0,81 kg/m2. The results of research showed that effect defoliation periode for lowest average fresh weight of setaria grass on the treatment W35 that is 0,50 kg/m2. The results of analysis of variance showed that the use of liquid fertlizer made of traditional market organic wastes had no significant effect (P > 0,05) on the hights plant and fresh weight of setaria grass, but defoliation periode had very significant effect (P < 0,01). Conclusion. Based on these results, traditional market waste liquid organic fertilizer using the good dosage or be able combination with fertilizers other that incrase toproduction setaria grass.

Abstract

Background. The aim of research was to examine the effect of hydroponic maize fodder and other forage towards Dynamics Protein Level and Enzym Protease Activity Digestive Rumen Sheep using In-Vitro Method. Materials and methods. The material that used in this research were three digestive rumen ofsheep. The research was held from January 14th, 2018 to March 7th, 2018 at the Laboratory of Science Feed and Nutrition, Faculty of Animal Science,JenderalSoedirman University, Purwokerto, Indonesia with in vitro method. The research was designed by Completed Randomized Design (CRD). The data was analyzed with analysis of variance (anova) and further testing by Honesty Significant Difference (HSD) test. The treatment consist of P1= 60 % Concentrate + 40 % Hydroponic Maize Fodder, P2 = 60 % Concentrate + 40 % Conventional Maize fodder, P3 = 60 % Concentrate + 40 % grass field and 6 repetition with 0 hours, 8 hours, 16 hours, 24 hours incubation. Data variable that measured are dynamics protein level and enzym protease activity. The result based on the test showed that provision of hydroponic maize fodder produce the highest dynamics protein level which is 0.0419 at the 8th hour of incubation compared to conventional maize fodder and field grasses. Results. Based on the results of the analysis of variance showed that the treatment of feeding various types of forages at a measurement of 0 hours of real incubation resulted (P<0.05) in the highest protease activity. Utilizing of hydroponic maizefodder and maize fodder as a forage source produced the highest protease activity compared to field grass. The average of dynamics protein level basedon the treatment research P1, P2, dan P3from 8 hours, 16 hours, and 24 hours of incubation consecutively was 0.0206; 0.0079; 0.0026 percent per hours,0.0056; 0.0109; 0.0139 percent per hours, 0.0020; 0.0031; 0.0080 percent per hours. The average of protease activity based on the treatment research P1, P2,dan P3 from 0 hours, 8 hours, 16 hours, and 24 hours of incubation consecutively was 0.972; 1.107; 0.918 U/mg, 1.020; 0.965; 1.030 U/mg, 1.005; 0.947; 1.040 U/mg, 1.120; 0.978; 0.972 U/mg. Conclusion The highest protein dynamics level were seen in the hydroponic maize fodder treatment (P1) then followed by fodder maize treatment (P2) and field grass. Protease activity in fodder maize treatment (P2) showed the highest value followed by the treatment of hydroponic maize fodder (P1) then the lowest was the field grass treatment (P3).

Abstract

Background. This study aims was to evaluate the effect of using various forms of tea waste fermented by EM4 on the on dry matter and oraganic matter intake in male quails. Materials and methods. The material used were 100 male quails aged 4 weeks. The experiment was conducted by using in vivoexperiment method and using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatment and 5 repetitions. The treatment were consisted of R0 = quail feed ascontrol feed; R1 = quail feed + fermented tea waste powders as much as 2%; R2 = quail feed + fermented tea waste granules as much as 2%; R3 = quail feed +fermented tea waste leafs as much as 2%. Variables were observed dry matter intake and organic matter intake. Results.The average values of dry matterintake from R0 was 14,60 gram/head/day; R1 was 14,24 gram/head/day; R2 was 14,60 gram/head/day; and R3 was 14,26 gram/head/day (P>0,05). Theaverage values of organic matter intake from R0 was 12,55 gram/head/day; R1 was 12,23 gram/head/day; R2 was 12,54 gram/head/day; and R3 was 12,25gram/head/day (P>0,05). Conclusion. The conclusion of this research was the supplementation of the various forms of tea waste fermented by EM4 on the male quail feed had not increased dry matter intake and organic matter intake yet.

Abstract

Background.This research was held on April 10th until June 1st, 2018 in Baturraden District, Banyumas Regency. The purpose of this research was 1). To know the economic performance (income and business efficiency) of dairy cattle business in Baturraden District, Banyumas Regency; 2). Analyze the factors (number of livestock ownership, feed costs, dairy farming experience, number of family members and education level of daily farmer) that affect the economic performance of dairy cattle business in Baturraden District, Banyumas Regency. Materials and methods. This research was conducted with survey method and the subject was dairy farmers in Baturraden Subdistrict, Banyumas Regency. The area sampling method was carried out with cluster sampling technique on 6 milk producing districts in Banyumas Regency and Baturraden District was selected as there was 20 dairy farmers as respondents. Income and business efficiency were analyzed by cash flow analysis, while the factors (number of livestock ownership, feed costs, dairy farming experience, number of family members and daily farmer education) that affecting economic performance (income and business efficiency) were analyzed using multiple linear regression. Results.The results show that 1). The average income of dairy cattle business in Baturaden Subdistrict was Rp. 35.557.684/year and the average business efficiency was 2.26; 2). The factors that significantly affecting the income are number of livestock ownership (P <0.10), feed costs (P <0.05) and daily farming experience (P <0.05). Feed costs partially have a significant effect on business efficiency (P <0.05). Dairy business in Baturraden District is profitable and runs efficiently. Conclusion.Conclusion: 1). Dairy cattle business in Baturraden Regency was quite profitabe dan efficient; 2). The amount of livestock ownership can be increased in order increasing the income.

Abstract

Background. The objective of this reserch was to determine the effect of adding colostrum on kefir with different percentages of organoleptic properties. Material and methods. This study used a randomized block design (RBD) method using 1700 ml cow milk, 300 ml cow colostrum, and 40 g kefir seeds into 4 treatments tested by 25 semi-trained panelists. The treatment applied was the difference in cow colostrum namely K1 = 0% cow colostrum, K2 = 10% cow colostrum, K3 = 20% cow colostrum, K4 = 30% cow colostrum.The parameters observed were organoleptic properties of aroma, taste, texture and overall. The study was conducted on January 1-2, 2019 at the Laboratory of Animal Product Technology, General Soedirman University Faculty of Animal Husbandry. Results. The results showed that the addition of cow colostrum to kefir had no significant effect (P > 0.05) on aroma, had a significant effect (P< 0.05) on taste, texture and overall. The highest average is ranked 1 for the results of a typical kefir aroma with a value of 0.17, slightly sour taste with a value of 0.21, thick texture with a value of 0.42, and overall very like with a value of 0.29. Conclusion. The conclusion is that the addition of 30% cow colostrum can increase the taste slightly acidic, the texture is thicker and is preferred overall (overall), but can only increase the distinctive aroma of kefir in addition to cow colostrum 20%.

Abstract

Background. This study aims to determine the differences in the size of combs and shanks and their correlation with various body weight of sentul chickens aged 18 weeks. Materials and Methods. The material used in the study consisted of 175 sentul chickens aged 18 weeks. This research was conducted using the experimental method using a Randomized Design Complete with treatment, namely Sa: sentul abu, Sb: sentul stone, Sd: centul dust, Se: centul gold and Sg: sentul geni. Data were analyzed using variance analysis and multiple linear regression to determine the relationship between the size of the comb and shank with body weight. Results. The results showed a variety ofsentul chickens having a long comb size and comb width that were significantly different (P> 0.05), but the width of the comb and shank size (P <0.05) were relatively the same. The results of the analysis of the Honest Significant Difference on the comb length variable showed that Sentul Dust and sentul Batu chicken were significantly different from Golden Sentul chicken and Sentul Geni chicken while the height of the comb showed that sentul Abu and sentul chicken chicken were significantly different from Sentul Ayam chicken and sentul chicken chicken. Conclusion. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that there is no difference in the size of the comb and various shanks of sentul chickens aged 18 weeks. Shank size determines body weight compared to the size of the comb.
