Abstract

Background. The purpose of this research is to test the accuracy of Winter formula for estimating body weight and get winter modification formula for Bali Flores cattle. Materials and Methods. Study has been done by using survey method. The material for this research by using 30 bulls which age about 2 years old with medium size weight. Parameter examined are body weight, body length, and heart girth. Data analysis has been done by using paired sample t-test. Results. The result of this research shows Winter formula is the most suitable for Bali Flores cattle is by replacing denominator into 323. Simpulan. Modified Winter formula can be used as the alternative of Bali Flores cattle body weight estimation.

Abstract

Latar belakang. Penelitian dengan judul Efek Penambahan Tepung Rumput Laut Merah (Gracilaria sp.) dalam Pakan Sapi Potong terhadap Kercernaan Bahan Kering dan Bahan Organik secara in vitro dilaksanakan pada tanggal 4 Oktober 2017 sampai 24 Februari 2018 di Laboratorium Ilmu Bahan Makanan Ternak dan Laboratorium Ilmu Nutrisi Makanan Ternak, Fakultas Peternakan, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Purwokerto. Tujuan penelitian yaitu untuk mengkaji pengaruh rumput laut Merah Gracilaria sp. dalam pakan sapi potong terhadap kecernaan bahan kering dan bahan organik secara in vitro. Materi dan metode. Materi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini cairan rumen sapi potong yang diambil dari RPH Bantarwuni, Rumput laut Merah Gracilaria sp., konsentrat, jerami amoniasi, seperangkat alat dan bahan mengukur kecernaan bahan kering dan bahan organik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode eksperimen secara in vitro menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) 5 perlakuan 4 kali ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri atas R1 = Pakan hijauan 40% + konsentrat 60% (PK=12% dan TDN=60%), R2 = R1 + tepung rumput laut Merah Gracilaria sp. 2% dari R1, R3 = R1 + tepung rumput laut Merah Gracilaria sp. 4% dari R1, R4 = R1 + tepung rumput laut Merah Gracilaria sp. 6% dari R1, R5 = R1 + tepung rumput laut Merah Gracilaria sp. 8% dari R1. Varibel yang diamati yaitu Kecernaan Bahan Kering dan Bahan Organik, data dianalisis menggunakan analisis variansi dan dilanjutkan uji orthogonal polynomial. Simpulan. Kecernaan bahan kering dan bahan organik pada pakan sapi potong dipengaruhi oleh pemberian Gracilaria sp.

Abstract

Backgrounds. The Effect of Addition Azolla microphylla in Feed to Weight of Yolk, Albumen and Eggshell of Quail ( Coturnix-coturnix japonica) is an experimental which conducted to investigate the effects of the addition of the Azolla microphylla meal in feed toward Weight of Yolk, Albumen and Eggshell. Materials and Methods. The materials used in this experiment were 100 female quail (Coturnix- coturnix japonica) of 30 days old. The treatment consisted R0 = basal feed without Azolla meal, R1 = basal feed + 1% of Azolla meal, R2 = basal feed + 2% of Azolla meal and R3 = basal feed + 3% of Azolla meal. The experiment method was used in vivo and was designed with Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The data was analyzed with analysis of variance. The measured variables are weight of albumen, yolk and eggshell. Results. The results obtained average weight of yolk 3,204 g with range between 3 , 08 g - 3,226 g, average weight of albumen 6,311 g with range between 6,186 - 6,472 g, and average of eggshells 1,119 g 1,054 g - 1,148 g. The results of analysis variance obtained that the addition of Azolla microphylla meal had no significant effect (p>0,05) towards weight of yolk, albumen and eggshells quail egg (Coturnix-coturnix japonica) during first period. Conclusion. It was concluded that addition of Azolla microphylla meal gave a relative same weight towards weight of albumen, yolk and eggshells.

Abstract

Background. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the percentage of liver and cecum to the severity of coccidiosis in rabbits in Banyumas Regency. Materials and Methods. The rabbit samples obtained came from several villages in Bayumas Regency. Analysis of faecal samples using the withlock method in 50 samples of weaning rabbit feces. The methods used in this study are knives, tissues, a set of surgical scissors, plastic, measuring cups, microscopes, pippets, slide withlock, sugar shether, water, scales with a capacity of 100 grams, trays, and counters. This study uses a survey method, and sampling by convenience sampling and using correlation regression analysis. Variables measured were percentage of liver, percentage of cecum and number of oocysts. Results. The results of the percentage study of cecum and liver did not have an effect on the severity of the disease based on the number of oocysts with significance on the percentage of liver 0.704> 0.05 and on the percentage cecum 0.202> 0.05 and a very weak correlation value of 0.055 on the percentage of hearts and 0.184 on the percentage sekum. Conclusion. The total 50 samples analyzed in this study contained eimeria oocyst.

Abstract

Background. This resesrch was aims to determine the relationship of udder volume with milk production of Friesian Holstein (FH) dairy cattle in BBPTU-HPT Baturraden. Materials and Methods. The material used in the resesrch was 50 dairy cattle lactation 1, udder volume measurement, and daily milk production record for 1 lactation period. The instrument used is a measuring instrument in the form of a metline to measure the length, width, and height of the udder as a basis for measuring udder volume. The resesrch was conducted by survey methods. The measured variables are udder volume and milk production. Results. The results showed an average of milk production is 3,554.77 + 912.94 liters/lactation. Regression and correlation analysis results showed a low relationship between udder volume and milk production with a correlation coefficient of 0.244. The results of regression analysis showed a negative relationship between the two variables as indicated by a decrease in milk production of 0.034 liters at each increase in the udder volume scale. Conclusion. Based on the results of the resesrch it can be concluded that the size of the volume or size of the udder does not affect the amount of milk production produced.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of the interaction between the addition of egg yolk levels in skim milk (P) diluents and storage time (W) on the motility and abnormalities of kampung rooster spermatozoa. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with a factorial pattern of 3 x 3 with a P factor (P0 = skim milk + 0% egg yolk, P1 = skim milk + 10% egg yolk, P2 = skim milk + 20% egg yolk) and a factor W (W1 = 10 minutes, W2 = 40 minutes, W3 = 70 minutes) at room temperature of each treatment was repeated three times. ANOVA test results showed that each of the interactions of the P and W factors had a very significant effect (P<0,01) on spermatozoa motility and the polynomial orthogonal test results showed a highly significant linear effect (P<0,01) on each treatment interaction P and W. The percentage of motility produced by P0W1, P1W1, P1W2, P2W1, and P2W2 treatments is above 50% so it is still suitable for IB use. The best treatment interaction was shown by the interaction of P1 (skim milk + 10% egg yolk) with W1, W2, and W3 on the motility of spermatozoa forming linear lines with the equation y = -0,484x + 82,93 and the coefficient of determination (R2) of 0,995. ANOVA test results did not show any significant effect (P> 0.05) on the interaction of P and W on spermatozoa abnormalities and each factor had its own effect. P treatment had a very significant effect (P<0,01) and formed a linear line with the equation Y = 0,009 x + 0,079 with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0,915, while the W factor had a significant effect (p <0,05) but had no significant effect (P>0,05) both linearly and quadratically. Abnormalities resulting from all treatments are below 20% making it suitable for insemination. From the results of this research it can be concluded that kampung rooster spermatozoa treated with an additional 10% and 20% egg yolk level stored up to 40 minutes at room temperature are still suitable for insemination.

Abstract

Background. The study was entitled "Percentage of Damage and Total Fresh Milk Bacteria in the Andini Lestari Dairy Farmer Group and Tirta Sari Aji Banyumas Regency". The purpose of this research was to determine percentage of damage and total bacteria in fress milk in the Andini Lestari dairy cattle group of Cilongok District and the Tirta Sari Aji dairy cattle in Karanglewas District. The research was conducted on 2 August 2019 until 28 September 2019. Materials and Methods. The material used is dairy farmers and milk. Dairy milk samples were obtained from 15 cattle from the Andini Lestari breeder group in Cilongok District and 15 cattle from Tirta Sari Aji, Karanglewas District, Banyumas Regency. The research method uses the survey method by conducting interviews and direct field observations. The response variables measured and observed in this study were milk damage and total milk bacteria. Milk samples obtained from the farms are then taken to the Dairy Production Laboratory for total microbial testing using the Total Plate Count Test and milk damage using the Alcohol Test. Results. The results showed that the alcohol test in the Andini Lestari group contained none positive samples or the presence of lumps in milk, while in the Tirta sari Aji group there were two positive samples of milk. Analysis of the sign test showed the level of milk damage in the two districts was not significantly different (P > 0.05). The results of total microbial studies in the two groups had an average of 16.22 x 104 cfu / ml and 14.44 x 104 cfu / ml. Analysis of the "t" test showed that the total microbes in the two groups were significantly different (P < 0.05). Conclusion. The quality of fresh milk in percentage of damage and total microbial in both Cilongok and Karanglewas Districts is considered good (according to SNI 2011).

Abstract

Background. The purpose of this studied was to determine the effect of addied phosphorus to phosphorus level and C/N ratio on the process of solid organic fertilizer decomposition. Materials and Methods. The research material used were fresh beef cattle feces, sawdust, activator, lime dolomite and phosphorus. It were used hoe, scale and a set of laboratory equipment to test P and C/N ratio. The research methodology was an experimental study using a complete random design (RAL) with 3 repeated treatments 6 times. The parameters measured are phosphorus level and C/N ratio of solid organic fertilizer. Results. The results showed that with phosphorus fortification had a very noticeable effect on phosphorus levels (P < 0.01) and a noticeable effect on the C/N ratio level (P < 0.05). Results of the phosphorus level reached 4,08% and C/N ratios of 22,88. Conclusion. The conclusion of the studied was phosphorus fortification can increase P level and reduce C/N ratio of solid organic fertilizer made from beef cattle feces.
