Abstract

Background. This study aims to determine the prospects and constraints of the development of sheep business and examine efforts to develop sheep farms in the District of Cilongok. Materials and methods. The number of research samples were 56 respondents. The target of the research is the breeder and sheep breeding business in Cilongok District, Banyumas Regency. The method used is a survey method for farmers in Cilongok District, namely by interviewing farmers. Sampling of the area is done intentionally (Purposive Sampling). Results. Research results obtained thatsheep business prospects in the Cilongok area are quite good with the support of productive breeders age, vast land, abundant agricultural waste, facilities and infrastructure available so that farmers can remain optimistic that market opportunities will increase. Thus, the sheep business has a better future. The constraints of the sheep business in the Cilongok area are sideline business, adequate Human Resources (HR), traditional maintenance, low breeders' education, lack of technological understanding, marketing is still conventional, institutions are less active and extension workers rarely provide socialization. Conclusion. Strategies that can be carried out in the development of sheep business in the District of Cilongok are by increasing maintenance facilities by utilizing land availability, increasing performance to increase livestock population, optimizing livestock productivity to meet market demand and applying forage processing technology so that it becomes high-quality feed.

Abstract

Background. This study is entitled "DOD Abnormalities and Salable Duckling in Duck Eggs Smeared with Vinegar at the End of Hatching". This research was conducted from 3 May 2018 to 1 June 2019 at the Poultry Production Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Jenderal Soedirman University, Purwokerto. This study aims to examine the effect of egg smearing using vinegar acid liquid with different concentrations in the hatching process against DOD Abnormalities and Salable Duckling in Tegal duck eggs. Materials and Methods. The material used in this research is Tegal duck eggs that are worth hatching as many as 200 eggs. The experiments were carried out using the experimental method and using a completely randomized design (CRD). The dyeing treatment consisted of P0 = 0% vinegar acid, P1 = 10% vinegar acid, P2 = 20% vinegar acid, each for 40 eggs. Each treatment was repeated 4 times. The ingredients used are acetic acid or vinegar and aquadest acid. The tools used were a set of 4 incubators, 100 ml measuring cups 1 unit, 10 ml measuring pipettes, 1 unit filler and 2 brushes. Results. The results of the analysis of variance showed that the application of vinegar to the duck eggs at the end of hatching had a very significant effect (P <0.01) on DOD Abnormalities and Salable Duckling. Conclusion. Based on these studies it can be concluded that dipping Tegal duck eggs in 10% vinegar acid concentration at the end of hatching decreases DOD abnormality and increases Salable Duckling.

Abstract

Background. The study aimed to finding out the effect of the addition of white oyster mushroom flour to the value of water content and the percentage of rejected laying duck sausage meat products. Materials and Methods. The used material female Tegal Ducks meats, white oyster mushroom flour and spices. The study was conducted at the Laboratory of Animal Product Technology, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Jenderal Soedirman University, Purwokerto with an experimental research method by using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications so that 20 experimental units were obtained by Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) further testing. The observed variables in the study were water content and product percentage. The tested treatments consisted of P0: sausage without the addition of white oyster mushroom flour, P1: sausage + white oyster mushroom flour 5% from meat, P2: sausage + white oyster mushroom flour 10% from meat, P3: sausage + white oyster mushroom flour 15 % of meat, and P4: sausage + white oyster mushroom flour 20% of meat. Results. The average water content of sausage from laying duck eggs P0, P1, P2, P3, and P4 was 65,64%; 64,61%; 63,66%; 62,50% and 60,78%. The average percentage products rejected laying duck sausage meat P0, P1, P2, P3, and P4 was 91,81%; 94,46%; 95,41%; 98.07% and 97,58%. Conslusion. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the addition of white oyster mushroom flour in the manufacture of rejected laying duck sausages can reduce water content and increase the percentage of sausage products with the best percentage of 15%.

Abstract

Background. Based on observations that the conformity of a group is largely determined by the leader. The study aims to determine the level of group conformity, lead time and leadership style of goat breeders in Banyumas Regency, and to know the relationship between lead time and leadership style with conformity of goat breeders in Banyumas Regency. Materials and Methods. Research using survey methods. Determination of the sample area is done by purposive sampling method by taking Baturaden District, Karanglewas District and Kalibagor District. Each village was chosen one village at random, namely Suro Village, Karangsalam Village, and Tamansari Village. Furthermore, from the selected villages the farmers' groups and group members are taken as a census, so that the respondents are 55 farmers. The analysis used is Descriptive Analysis, Spearman Rank Correlation and Chi Square Analysis. Results. The results of this study indicate that group conformity is in the high category, lead time is 5-10 years and leadership style is largely democratic. Conclusion. There is a relationship between lead time and leadership style with group conformity.

Abstract

Background. This study aims to study the relationship between different travel times with Bali cattle body weight loss and calculate the losses that occur due to Bali cattle body weight loss. Materials and methods. The material used is 75 Bali cattle with a range of 3 categories, namely 21-30 hours of travel time, 31-40 hours of travel time and 41-50 hours of travel time. This research method uses a survey method with stratified random sampling. Data analysis uses simple regression analysis. Results. Based on the results of research using correlation coefficient analysis shows that there is a real relationship between travel time to body weight loss of 0.311. The results of the study showed a correlation coefficient of travel time with a loss of 0.298. Conclusion. The addition of 1 hour travel time affects the weight loss of 0.418 kg and affects the loss of Rp. 17,252.00.

Abstract

Background. This study was conducted to determine the effect of supplementation protected soybean meal to total solid and density of early lactation dairy cows. Materials and methods. Ten early lactation Friesian Holstein cows were divided into two groups. Five animals were used as a control group and another groups as treatment object. The feed is forages and concentrates. The control group getting just concentrates, while the treatment group getting concentrate with protected soybean meal as much as 60 g/? milk production. The data obtained were analyzed using T-test analysis. Results. Result showed total solid content between control and tretment group were significant (P<0,05), while density content control and tretment group were not significant (P>0,05). Conclusion. Supplementation protected soybean meal of early lactation dairy cows decrease density content, and increase total solid content.
