Abstract

The impact of technological domination can threaten the balance of human natural intelligence. The aim of this research is to analyze how biology education can be a solution in overcoming these challenges. The research method used involved an in-depth literature review of the concepts of natural intelligence, human nature, and the impact of technology on both. In addition, field research was conducted to analyze the effectiveness of biology education strategies implemented in several educational institutions. The research results show that biology education, critical thinking skills, and connection with nature can make a significant contribution to revitalizing human intelligence. The integration of biological concepts allows individuals to stay connected and offset the negative effects of technology. Thus, biology education has a crucial role in maintaining human natural intelligence in an era of disruption.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the integration of Islamic studies in the study of the biology of the human reproductive system at the Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan National Islamic University. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach through field research, using an integrated scientific and Islamic approach through verses from the Al-Qur’an about reproductive physiology. The results and discussion of this research show that the learning process implemented has not fully achieved the integration of science and Islam in biology learning. This can be seen from the results of a questionnaire conducted by the Whatss group of 20 students which was distributed to the 6th semester biology student group, that every sub-discussion of material related to the reproductive system previously had not fully integrated uluhiyah learning. information contained in the Koran. The process has not been completely perfected. This research recommends the integration of science and Islam in Islamic higher education studies. The moral message instilled in students is not only about learning biology as a secular science, but can also increase awareness about the integration of scientific research in the world and the future.

Abstract

Static infographics as a teaching material that can be used as a way to increase students' learning motivation. This study discusses the development of teaching materials in the form of static infographics of organ system material in the human body in Phase F for PPRA reinforcement. The purpose of this study was to produce valid and practical static infographic teaching materials. Based on the results of interviews with one of the Biology teachers in the teaching and learning process on the material of organ systems in the human body only uses teaching materials in the form of PowerPoint and videos taken from YouTube. As a result, students' interest in the material of the organ system in the human body is still low. The material used in this static infographic is in the form of enrichment material containing PPRA values, namely the value of being civilized (ta'abbud), balanced (tawazun), dynamic and innovative (tathawwur waibtikar), and tolerance (tasamuh). This research uses the Research and Development method, which is a study to create, produce, and develop a new product. This research uses the Plomp model in 2013 which is limited to the prototype stage. Data collection techniques were carried out using interviews, observation, documentation, and questionnaires given to respondents. Based on the results of the study, the average value of material experts, media experts, and linguists was obtained with a value of 3.61 a very valid category. And for the practicality questionnaire assessment with an average score of 3.64 with a very practical category. The results of these responses that static infographic teaching materials are valid and practical for use in the learning process.

Abstract

Differences in the academic abilities of each student are one of the factors that influence the high and low test scores of each student, especially in animal structure practical courses. This research aims to determine the effect of gender differences on the academic abilities of biology education students based on the results of mid-semester exams. The population in this study was all students in the third semester of biology education with a sample of 20 male students and 20 female students. The data collection technique in this research uses a study of students' midterm exam documents which are analyzed using average calculations and followed by statistical analysis in the form of normality tests, homogeneity tests, and continued with hypothesis testing. The average score of male students is 46.5, lower than that of female students, which is 66.5 with the asmp normality test. Sig 0.000 0.05 where the data is not normally distributed. The homogeneity test results obtained asymp value. Sig 0.978 0.05 where the data is homogeneous, and the results of the asmp hypothesis test. Sig (2-tailed) 0.001 0.05 where the hypothesis is accepted. Thus, there is a difference in academic abilities between men and women in the animal structure practicum course, the concept of observing animal tissue.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of Argument-Driven Inquiry (ADI)-based biology instruction on students' argumentation skills in the context of biodiversity. The research is classified as a quasi-experimental study using a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. The independent variable in this study is the implementation of the Argument-Driven Inquiry (ADI) instructional model. The population of this study comprises all tenth-grade students at SMAN 5 Padang. The sample consists of two classes, with Class X IPA 1 selected as the experimental group and Class X IPA 2 as the control group. Data on students' argumentation skills were collected using essay-type tests. The data analysis techniques employed include the Mann-Whitney U test, Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test, Independent Sample t-test, and Effect Size test. The results indicate that the use of the Argument-Driven Inquiry (ADI) instructional model positively influences the improvement of students' argumentation skills on the topic of biodiversity. This implies that students successfully achieved the targeted learning objectives using the ADI model.

Abstract

A teacher must have teaching skills in order to become a professional teacher. The purpose of this article is to present the results of research on the development of teaching skills multimedia for microteaching courses in the Biology Education Study Program, FMIPA, State University of Jakarta. Multimedia is designed by combining text, images, audio and video to present basic teaching skills material in an interactive and interesting way. This research consisted of two years, in the first year four basic multimedia teaching skills were developed, namely: opening and closing lesson skills, class management skills and basic questioning skills and advanced questioning skills. This research is research and development (RnD) which was adapted into 7 stages from 10 steps of development research by Gall, Gall and Borg, including 1) research and data collection, 2) planning, 3) making prototypes, 4) testing first prototype, 5) prototype improvements, 6) field trials, 7) product improvements. The multimedia products developed are evaluated and assessed by experts, then revised based on the suggestions given and the results of field trials. The results of the research show that the multimedia developed is valid, practical and effective for improving teaching skills of pre-service teachers. Through this article the author wants to suggest that PKM or microteaching lecturers can use multimedia to practice basic teaching skills.

Abstract

This study aims to explore biology education students' perceptions of integrating entrepreneurship education with courses, interest in entrepreneurship, and self-efficacy. This study is an exploratory descriptive research, the respondents were 77 biology education students at UIN SYAHADA Padangsidimpuan. The instrument used was a closed questionnaire with the Guttman scale. Research data was analyzed descriptively and inferential statistics using the Kruskal Wallis test. The results of the study are: 1) student perceptions regarding the integration of entrepreneurship education are very positive, as many as 83.1% of students feel that integration needs to be implemented. Based on the Sig value (0.86 0.05), there is no significant difference between the perceptions of semester III, V, and VII students; 2) Students' entrepreneurial interest is relatively high, namely 77.9% of students are interested in entrepreneurship. Based on the Sig value (0.43 0.05), there is no significant difference between the interests of semester III, V and VII students; 3) Student self-efficacy in entrepreneurship is classified as moderate, namely only 50.6% of students believe in their abilities. Based on the Sig value (0.07 0.05), there is a significant difference between the self-efficacy of students in semesters III, V, and VII.
