Abstract

This paper examines efforts to realize religious harmony in society by applying the Bugis philosophical concepts of "Sipakatau, Sipakainge, Sipakalebbi." The purpose of this research is to describe and analyze the meaning or philosophy contained in the Bugis philosophy and to propose implementations that can be applied in social life to achieve integration and religious harmony. In this regard, the author employs qualitative research by reviewing books and published research results and exploring relevant literature sources related to this research, specifically the tradition of "Sipakatau, Sipakainge, Sipakalebbi" as a manifestation of religious harmony in society, which will be analyzed and then reflected upon using a philosophical approach. From this effort, the researcher finds that the concept of "Sipakatau, Sipakainge, Sipakalebbi" is highly relevant to George Simmel's theory, which emphasizes the ways of interacting with society. The theories of sociability, superordination, and conflict provide a concept of society through reciprocal interactions. Society is viewed as more than just a collection of individuals; it refers to patterns of reciprocal interactions between individuals. This principle is continuously practiced by the community to achieve religious harmony in Indonesia, especially amidst the strong currents of globalization.

Abstract

This paper explores the relationship between the conscious and subconscious mind, focusing on how this interplay influences human behaviour and character development. Drawing on the teachings of the Quran, it examines the concept of free will and the responsibility individuals have for their choices. The study highlights how conscious actions shape subconscious habits, emphasizing that repeated behaviours can lead to automatic responses that reflect one’s character. The Quran underscores the importance of personal accountability and the potential for self-transformation through intentional actions. By aligning subconscious tendencies with conscious intentions, individuals can cultivate positive traits and move closer to their spiritual goals. This research offers insights into the dynamics of human behaviour and the spiritual implications of our choices, guided by the principles found in the Quran. It also explores the dynamics between the conscious and subconscious mind, emphasizing the notion that the subconscious mind predominantly governs our daily activities. It posits that while the conscious mind is primarily engaged in new learning processes, the subconscious mind, shaped by both inherent traits and conscious learning, automates routine tasks and influences decision-making through.

Abstract

This research examines Nawazil books as a vital indirect source for insights into Islamic societies across specific historical periods. Originally intended to provide legal rulings, these texts reveal the political, social, and economic conditions of their times. The study emphasizes the significance of Nawazil works, particularly from Andalusia and Morocco, offering a unique perspective on daily life and socio-economic interactions often missing from direct historical sources. The main goal is to assess how these rulings can aid in reconstructing historical contexts beyond their religious functions. The research problem addresses the extraction of historical facts from texts initially designed for legal judgments. Utilizing a historical and descriptive-analytical approach, the study explores texts like al-Ajwiba al-Kubra by al-Fassi Abdelkader. Findings show that Nawazil books provide valuable, often overlooked, details that can supplement traditional historical sources with intricate accounts of local realities.

Abstract

This study is an analysis of the background and history of Rohingya Conflict in Myanmar. It tries to reveal the root causes of the conflict as well as the other factors that made this conflict lasted until today. The researcher will use the historical method by operating the descriptive-narrative-analytical techniques to bring out the major key points of the research. With the incorporation of Ted Gurr’s “Why Men Rebel” Theory of Revolution, the researcher would like to bring the discussion on how this seven-decade conflict in Myanmar’s history affected its image in the international politics. Here, the researcher will try to look into the “relative deprivation” stressed by Gurr, placing it on the side of the Rohingya people as they have been deprived not only of citizenship by the government of Myanmar, but also of territory and other elements for them to live peacefully. It led to several violent encounters between the Rohingya people and the forces of the government of Myanmar. Hence, the researcher would like to put the Rohingya case on Gurr’s claim: "as frustration produces aggressive behavior on the part of an individual, so too does relative deprivation predict collective violence by social groups." In this case, the government of Myanmar’s deprivation of many aspects from this minority ethnic group from Rakhine State, resulted in aggression that led to several violent encounters with the government throughout the years.
