Abstract

Emotion is psychological condition that supports a person to make or do something after a stimulus originating from within and outside him/her. First-year medical students habitually experience various emotional reactions and mixed feelings, when they got cadaver for the first time in the practicum room or surgery room. Based on data graduation got from the Medical Education Unit (MEU) of the Faculty of Medicine at Pattimura University, the level of effectiveness of anatomy subject from the 2014/2015 academic year to the 2016/2017 only reached 53,63% this figure shows that a small number of students are capable pass anatomy sub-alignment course. This research aims to describe the emotional reaction of the first semester students with a graduation level of cadaver-based anatomy practicum. This research is a quantitative analytic research with sectional approach. Amount of 142 respondent were obtained using total sampling for the all 2019 first semester students who participated in the second biomedical anatomysub-block of the 2019/2020 Academic Year. Retrieval of data using the cadaver student's emotional reaction dealing with questionnaire that has been validated. Based on the result of the study found that a mount of 31,2% of students who passed the anatomy practicum experience got the positive emotions, while 25% felt negative emotions. Then 68,8% and 80% of student who experienced positive and negative emotions were stated didn’t pass the test. These results showed that there was no correlation between emotional reactions and cadaver-based anatomical practicum graduation rates, with the calculated Chi Square amount=0.069 and p=0,793 at the significance of 0,050. So it can be concluded that there is no relationship between emotional reactions with the graduation level of cadaver-based anatomical practicum in 2019 first semester students of the Faculty of Medicine, Pattimura University.

Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) is one of the musculoskeletal disorders that often occur in daily life. Work-related LBP can lead to lost working hours and reduced work efficiency. Street sweeper is one of the most important jobs, if the street sweeper works for an excessive duration of work, it can cause low back pain. This study aims to determine the relationship between work duration and low back pain in street sweepers in Ambon City. The benefits of this research can be used as a reference for the government to set a policy on working hours for street sweepers. This research is a quantitative analytic study that uses Cross Sectional design. Sampling was done by consecutive sampling method and using the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) Questionnaire. The data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) program. The results of this study showed that from 72 respondents, 67 respondents (93.1%) experienced low back pain in the Minimal Disability category and 5 respondents (6.9%) experienced low back pain in the Moderate Disability category. Bivariate analysis using Chi-Square test obtained p value = 0.005 (p <0.05) which means there is a significant relationship between street sweeper’s work duration and low back pain in City of Ambon in 2021.

Abstract

Introduction: Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV) is a side effect that often occurs after anesthesia. PONV is associated with various factors, these factors are categorized into risk factors related to patient, surgery, and anesthesia. PONV can occur in men and women of all ages. Although it is not known for certain, smoking is believed to prevent the occurrence of PONV. In addition, prophylactic administration of ondansetron can also prevent the occurrence of PONV. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between risk factors and the incidence of PONV in patients undergoing spinal anesthesia at Dr. M. Haulussy Ambon and Bhayangkara Hospital Ambon in 2022. Methods: This study is an observational analytic study with a cross sectional approach which was conducted in February-March 2022 by using a total sampling technique of 43 patients who underwent lower abdominal surgery and underwent spinal anesthesia at Dr. Hospital. M. Haulussy Ambon and Bhayangkara Hospital Ambon. The instrument used is a questionnaire taken from the article “Simplified Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting Impact Scale for Audit and Post-Discharge Review in the British Journal of Anaesthesia” that has been modified. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test to determine the relationship between risk factors and the incidence of PONV in patients undergoing spinal anesthesia. Results: The results showed that there was a significant relationship between age (P=0.027), gender (P=0.008), smoking history (P=0.011), and history of ondansetron prophylaxis (P=0.005) with the incidence of PONV in patients after lower abdominal surgery. with spinal anesthesia. Conclusions: This study shows the importance of knowing the risk factors to be aware of the occurrence of PONV after lower abdominal surgery with spinal anesthesia at Dr. M. Haulussy Ambon and Bhayangkara Hospital Ambon.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding has an important role in maintaining the health and survival of babies. One of the factors that influence mothers in giving exclusive breastfeeding is the self-efficacy factor (self-confidence) in breastfeeding. Self-efficacy in breastfeeding is a mother's confidence in her ability to breastfeed or exclusively breastfeed her baby. The purpose of this study was to determine the association between maternal self-efficacy and exclusive breastfeeding for infants 0-6 months at the Waihaong Public Health Center, Ambon City. This research is an observational analytic study with a cross sectional approach conducted in July-August 2021. By using the total sampling technique, the number of samples obtained was 59 mothers of infants aged 0-6 months living in the catchment area of Waihaong Health Center. The instrument used was the BSE-SF (Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale Short-Form) questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square method to assess the association between maternal self-efficacy and exclusive breastfeeding for infants 0-6 months. The results showed that the percentage of mothers who had a high level of self-efficacy was 61%. There were 81.4% mothers who managed to exclusively breastfed their infants in the last 24 hours. We found a statistically significant association maternal self-efficacy and exclusive breastfeeding amongst mothers with infants aged 0-6 months in the working area of Waihaong Health Center (p<0.001). This study showed the importance of interventions to promote maternal self-efficacy to improve the exclusive breasting rates in the catchment area of Waihaong Health Center, Ambon City.

Abstract

Cloth masks serve to protect users from particles carried through droplets, or airborne. The use of cloth masks for a longer period of time can cause hypercapnia with symptoms such as dyspnea, tachycardia, dizziness, and headaches, which are characterized by CO2 levels >45. This research method is an experimental method, with a simple random sampling technique, with 36 respondents divided into two groups, namely control and treatment. Observational data were analyzed using the Independent Sample T-Test if the data was normally distributed and Mann-Whitney if the distribution was not normal. The results of the Mann-Whitney test showed that at minute 0 the p value = 0.864, the results of the Independent Sample T-Test test at minute 30 the control group p value = 0.850, the treatment group p value = 0.851 minutes to -60 control group p value = 0,935, treatment p value = 0,935, 90th minute control group p value = 0,568, treatment group p value = 0,569 minute 120 control group p value = 0,056, treatment group p value = 0,056. From the results of the five measurements, the average p value = > 0.05, which means there is no significant difference. The test results mean that there is no effect between the duration of using a cloth mask on the end-tidal carbon dioxide.

Abstract

Stress refers to events that can affect a person's physical and psychological condition, including in the process of spermatogenesis. Eucalyptus oil has an antidepressant effect which acts to prevent the stress from continuing. This study aims to determine how the administration of eucalyptus oil inhalation on the number of spermatid cells in male mice (Mus musculus) exposed to acute stress. This research is a true experimental study with a posttest only control group design approach. A total of 28 adult male mice selected by simple random sampling were grouped into four groups, namely the normal control group (no treatment); negative control group (given exposure to acute stress); positive control group (administered 0.2 mL alprazolam and exposure to acute stress); treatment group (given 0.5 mL of eucalyptus oil and exposure to acute stress). Stress treatment was carried out for six minutes per day in 14 days. The results of the study using the oneway ANOVA statistical test showed that there was a difference between each experimental group (p<0.001). Tukey's further test results showed that there was a significant difference between the eucalyptus oil group given stress exposure with intervention and the negative control group given stress exposure without intervention (p<0.001). This proves that eucalyptus oil has a preventive effect on stress and prevents a decrease in the number of spermatid cells.
