Abstract

Burns are tissue damage to the skin caused by sunlight, hot liquids, fire, electricity, and chemicals. Lack of public knowledge about the initial treatment of burns causes the initial treatment of burns to be less precise. The purpose of this study was to describe the level of public knowledge regarding the initial treatment of burns in Ariate Village, Huamual District, West Seram Regency. This research is a descriptive quantitative research design that uses a cross-sectional design. The population of this research is all people who live in Ariate Village, Huamual District, West Seram Regency, with a sampling technique that is simple random sampling. This study uses questionnaire data filled out by respondents and then tabulated; coding, entry, and cleaning; then analysis is carried out on the results of the data. The results of this study obtained an overview of the level of knowledge of the people of Ariate Village, including the sufficient category and the good category, with a percentage of 84.5% consisting of 44% for the sufficient category and 40.5% for the good category. Through this research, it is suggested that there should be socialization efforts from health workers/offices to the community to increase people's knowledge about the initial management of burns.

Abstract

Hemorrhoids are a disease that arises due to the dilation of blood vessels in the hemorrhoidal plexus so it becomes a dangerous disease and can interfere with daily activities. Hemorrhoidectomy is a procedure for treating hemorrhoids by excising as little as possible only the tissue that is dilated so that it does not interfere with the work function of the anal sphincter. Paran Injection Ligation for Hemorrhoids (PILA) is another procedure to treat hemorrhoidal patients using a combination method of sclerotherapy and rubber band ligation. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of the management of hemorrhoids with PILA and hemorrhoidectomy in Tk. II. Prof. Dr. J. A. Latumeten Ambon hospital for the period October 2021- October 2022. This study was an observational analytic study using a total sampling technique with a total sample of 67 subjects, including 32 hemorrhoidal patients who received PILA treatment and 35 hemorrhoidal patients who received hemorrhoidectomy. The data used in this study were medical records of hemorrhoids at the Tk. II Prof. Dr. J. A. Latumeten Ambon hospital for the period October 2021 – October 2022. This study used bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test to assess the effectiveness of treatment by comparing several components of management effectiveness, namely pain, bleeding, mobilization, length of stay, and postoperative visits with complications to hemorrhoidectomy and PILA. Analysis with the Fisher Exact test is used if the data does not meet the requirements for the Chi-Square Test. The results of the study showed that there were significant differences between the management of hemorrhoids and hemorrhoidectomy and PILA which were obtained from the comparison of the effectiveness components, namely; pain (p = 0.000), bleeding (p = 0.000), mobilization (p = 0.000), length of stay (p = 0.000), and postoperative visits with complications (p = 0.002) with hemoroid management (PILA and hemorrhoidectomy).

Abstract

Nusalaut is a sub-district located in Central Maluku Regency. Nusalaut, from a health perspective, has 1 health center which is classified as a very remote health center according to the 2020 Central Maluku Regency regent's regulation. Many problems contribute to stressors for health workers in carrying out work assignments in Nusalaut. The application of an adaptive stress coping mechanism is expected to help health workers in island areas such as Nusalaut, with all the difficulties and demands they face, be able to carry out their duties properly so that stress events do not affect the performance of health worker services. The purpose of this study was to find out the strategy of health workers in coping with stress, especially for health workers who work in Nusalaut District, Central Maluku Regency. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with a field research design and research methods in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that 4 of the 7 health workers who were the sample used stress coping strategies that focused on Emotional Focused Coping and the remaining 3 used Problem Focused Coping. Then from the 7 community leaders in each country (village), each figure admitted that the community was satisfied with the services provided by the health workers, but for the countries of Nalahia and Sila-Leinitu, there were complaints. Each stress coping strategy used by each health worker should not reduce performance and become an obstacle in providing health services.

Abstract

Traffic accidents (KLL) are the first cause of death for children and young adults aged 5-29 years. Indonesia is in the Southeast Asia region which ranks second with the highest traffic accident rate of 20.7/100,000 people. Motorcycles are the biggest contributor due to the minimum level of safety which results in head injuries and causes death, permanent disability, and other organ defects. Therefore, it is necessary to use personal protective equipment in crossing traffic, namely helmets to minimize the risk of death. This study aims to describe the level of knowledge, attitudes and behavior of Pattimura University students regarding the use of helmets as an effort to reduce head injuries due to traffic accidents in Ambon city. This research used a cross-sectional quantitative descriptive method. A sample of 108 respondents was taken by simple random sampling. Data obtained from the results of filling out the questionnaire. The results showed that 59 (54.6%) respondents had sufficient knowledge, 57 (52.8%) respondents confirmed positively and 57 (52.8%) respondents often used helmets when crossing traffic.

Abstract

Breast cancer is a disease characterized by the presence of abnormal cells that can grow uncontrollably and havethe ability to attack and move between cells and tissues of the body. Breast cancer is one of the non-communicable diseases that most often causes death in women. Women who are late aware of the changes that occur in the breast make the prognosis even worse. The importance of breast cancer screening can be started from oneself because 85% of all breast changes can be well recognized by sufferers through breast self-examination (BSE). BSE is effective if it is done when you are at your childbearing age, namely at the age of 15-49 years which can be done on the 7th-10th day which is counted from the 1st day of menstruation. The low awareness of women is due to a lack of knowledge about BSE as a result of a lack of information, education and motivation. The purpose of this study was to see an overview of the level of knowledge, attitudes and behavior of young women regarding breast self-examination (BSE) at State High School 11 Ambon. There were 141 grade 12 students who were respondents in this study. This research is a quantitative descriptive study with a cross sectional approach. Sampling using total sampling method. The results showed that most of the respondents had sufficient knowledge (53.2%), negative attitudes (65.2%) and rare BSE behavior (89.4%). Based on the research results, it is suggested that further researchers can analyze the relationship between knowledge and attitudes towards BSE behavior.

Abstract

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the third leading cause of death globally. Moreover, half of the deaths of COPD patients are caused by cardiovascular disease. COPD is one of the risk factors for sudden cardiac arrest, especially more than 5 years after being diagnosed with COPD, and frequent exacerbations. Active pulmonary TB or a history of pulmonary TB is a risk factor for COPD causes, especially in developing countries. Pulmonary TB can be treated but can cause complications up to death. This article reports on the case of a 65-year-old male patient who was suddenly unconscious with a history of COPD and pulmonary TB. When he came breathing looks shallow and short, the radial pulsation is palpable weak and rapid. When oxygen will be given via NRM, the patient suddenly stops breathing accompanied by carotid pulsations that are not palpable. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation efforts are carried out for 15 minutes, given epinephrine 2 times without defibrillation until return of spontaneous circulation. 30 minutes later the patient's condition worsened until he was pronounced dead. COPD, pulmonary TB, and sudden cardiac arrest can be interconnected where COPD can cause sudden cardiac arrest, while active pulmonary TB or a history of pulmonary TB can cause COPD, pulmonary TB can also cause sudden cardiac arrest due to pulmonary or extrapulmonary complications.

Abstract

Scabies is a contagious skin disease caused by a parasitic infestation of the tiny mite Sarcoptes scabiei var hominis in many tropical countries including Indonesia. It is estimated 300 million cases of scabies each year in the world. It can have a significant impact on general health, causing illness and death not only as a direct result of its infestation but also as a result of secondary bacterial infection. To analyze the associated factors of scabies in Boarding School Al Anshor, Ambon in 2022. This study used an observational analytic research method with cross-sectional design. Based on the results of the doctor's diagnosis, 68 students (31.78%) suffered from scabies. Female students dominate scabies sufferers. In addition, it was also found that scabies mostly occurred in students with the age of 15 years. Scabies is dominated by students with a high school education level as many as 41 students. It was found that the factors of gender (p=0,755), age (p=0,089), and education level of students (p=0,074) had no statistical effect on the prevalence of scabies in the Al Anshor boarding school in Ambon. It can be concluded that there is no relationship between gender, age, and education level and scabies.
