Abstract

Perforated appendicitis is a rupture of the appendix which can cause pus to enter the abdominal cavity, causing complications of peritonitis. The delay in establishing a diagnosis has an impact on less than optimal management which in to complications in the form of perforation. This study aims to determine the correlation between the length of preoperative pain and the length of postoperative pain in perforated appendicitis patients who underwent appendectomy laparotomy in RSUD Dr. M. Haulussy Ambon in 2018-2019. The design of this research used an observational analytic method with a cross sectional approach. The research using total sampling technique obtained 42 samples according to the inclusion criteria. Data analysis used univariate analysis and bivariate analysis. The statistical test used was the chi-square test and the alternative test used the fisher's exact test. The results of the chi-square test between the length of preoperative pain and the length of treatment obtained p = 0.041. The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant relationship between the length of preoperative pain and the length of postoperative care in appendicitis patients who underwent appendectomy laparotomy at Dr. M. Haulussy Ambon in 2018-2019.

Abstract

Damage on gastric mucosa is caused by an imbalance of defensive factors and aggressive factors. This can be due to various factors, one of which is stress. Cajuput oil as aromatherapy is proven to prevent stress because it contains 1,8 cineole, α-terpineol, and 4-terpineol which have a sedative-hypnotic effect. This study aims to determine the effect of inhalation of cajuput oil on the gastric histology of mice. This research is a true experimental with a post test only control group design. The research subjects were 16 adult male mice taken by simple random sampling and divided into normal group (KN), negative control group (K-), positive control group (K+), and cajuput oil inhalation group (P). Groups K+, K-, and P were given stress treatment with the Tail Suspension Test (TST) method for six minutes for 14 day. Surgery was perfomed on the 15th day and histology preparations were made. The average score of gastric mucosal damage in cajuput oil group was lower when compared to the stress group although the results of the Tukey test showed no significant results between these two group. It can be concluded that cajuput oil with an inhalation dose 0.5 mL has anti-stress effect that prevent gastric mucosal damage in mice which acute stress induced.

Abstract

Uterine myoma or uterine leiomyoma or fibroid are benign tumors of the smooth muscle of the uterus, which occur in 20-25% of women of reproductive age. One of the things that can stimulate the occurrence of uterine myoma is estrogen, that is why uterine myoma cannot be identified before puberty and it could shrink or even disappear when entering menopause. Not all uterine myoma have symptoms, the symptoms will appear according to the location where the uterine myoma is sited. Complications can occur depending on the location, which can interfere with the pregnancy until postpartum. This study aims to determine the characteristics of obstetric status in uterine myoma patients at RSUD Dr. M. Haulussy Ambon in 2018-2021. This research is a quantitative descriptive study using secondary data medical records. Sampling in the study is total sampling. Based on the results of the study, in 119 samples, most cases of uterine myoma were found at the age of 36-45 years (44.5%), a secondary education level (51.3%), housewife (66.4%), multipara (47, 1%), and those who have never had an abortion (95.8%). While at least 17-25 years old (1.7%), primary education level (16.0%), retired (0,8%) and Polri/TNI (0.8%), grandemultipara (5.9%), and women who had abortions ≥ 2 times (1.7%).

Abstract

Parapneumonic effusion is a pleural effusion associated with bacterial pneumonia, lung abscess or bronchiectasis. The effusion of parapneumonic arising from inflammation in the lung and pleura is due to a direct invasion of bacteria, cascade of inflammatory reactions, and bacterial virulence. The development of the effusion of parapneumonic is grouped into 3 stages: 1) exudative stage, 2) fibrinopurulent stage, 3) organizing stage with pleural peel form. This stage helps categorize effusions into groups to evaluate the risk of cases requiring intervention. Proper management and antibiotic therapy will result in improvements to the effusions of parapneumonic

Abstract

Nutrients are substances that can affect health and disease. Someone who consumes less nutrition has a greater risk of experiencing malnutrition compared to consuming enough nutrition. The process of providing nutrition itself is very complex so that it requires good knowledge and collaboration between health professionals, including nurses who have responsibilities and roles in the management of nutritional therapy. This study aims to determine the relationship between the knowledge of the implementing nurse and the provision of nutritional therapy per NGT at RSUP Prof. Dr. R. D. Kandou Manado. The research design used was analytic observational with a cross sectional approach. The sample selection technique used was purposive sampling with a sample of 90 nurses. The results of this study showed that there was no significant relationship between the knowledge of the implementing nurse and the provision of nutritional therapy per NGT with an α 0.208 > 0.05.

Abstract

Aging is a process that must be experienced by living things, including humans, which causes a decrease in bodily functions. Various theories of aging show the interference of the body's regulatory system from upstream to downstream. One of the regulations that influence is hormonal regulation which is played by growth hormone. Various literature studies show that growth hormone accelerates the aging process. The primary mechanism involves reducing the formation of endogenous antioxidants due to insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-1) activity and decreased metabolic activity regulated by mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR).

Abstract

Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammation of the pilosebaceous unit with multifactorial causes and clinical manifestations in the form of comedones, papules, pustules, nodes, and cysts. According to the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study, acne affects 85% of adolescents to young adults aged 12-25 years. Acne vulgaris has an impact both physically and psychologically, including a person's self-confidence. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the severity of acne vulgaris with the level of self-confidence of the students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Pattimura. This type of research is quantitative analytic with a cross-sectional study approach. Research respondents were students of the Faculty of Medicine, Pattimura University, Ambon with acne with a total of 83 respondents who were selected by simple random sampling technique. Characteristics of respondents based on age and gender were dominated by respondents aged 19 years (31.3%) and females (86.7%). The results showed that most of the respondents experienced mild acne as many as 54 respondents (65.1%), mostly dominated by moderate-high self-confidence as many as 55 respondents (66.3%). The results showed that there was a significant relationship between the severity of acne vulgaris and the level of confidence in the students of the Faculty of Medicine, Pattimura University, Ambon with p = 0.001. The result of this study can be used as reference material for further research on other causal factors besides acne vulgaris that affect self-confidence.
