Abstract

Physical education plays a crucial role in shaping students’ cognitive, social, and emotional abilities. This study aims to analyze the relationship between physical education and students’ academic achievement through an interdisciplinary approach. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this research follows the guidelines of Kitchenham & Charters (2007) and the PRISMA 2020 protocol. Twenty national and international journal articles published between 2020 and 2025 were thematically analyzed to identify patterns linking physical activity, cognitive function, learning motivation, and academic outcomes. The findings reveal that physical education positively influences academic achievement through three key mechanisms: enhancing cognitive functions through physical activity, strengthening motivation and self-regulation, and applying interdisciplinary learning approaches that integrate physical and academic aspects. The review also indicates that physical education fosters social values and character development that support students’ academic success. Therefore, physical education should not be viewed merely as a physical activity but as a holistic learning medium that reinforces kinesthetic, cognitive, and emotional intelligence. The results of this study are expected to serve as a reference for curriculum development and educational policy focusing on the integration of physical fitness and academic excellence.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively examine the implementation of cognitive and affective approaches in physical education and their implications for developing students’ character and social skills. A descriptive qualitative approach with a literature-based method was employed to analyze theoretical perspectives, pedagogical models, and empirical studies published between 2010 and 2025 from databases such as Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, Taylor & Francis, and SpringerLink. The findings indicate that instructional models such as Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) and Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility (TPSR) significantly enhance strategic thinking, self-reflection, social empathy, and moral responsibility among students. Furthermore, the physical literacy framework serves as an integrative approach that unites physical, cognitive, and affective domains to foster meaningful and holistic learning in physical education. Therefore, integrating cognitive and affective approaches contributes substantially to developing students who are intellectually capable, morally grounded, and socially resilient.

Abstract

This literature review explores the role of physical education in enhancing students’ physical and mental health, with a focus on its impact on physical fitness, psychological well-being, resilience, and social competence. By synthesizing findings from ten peer-reviewed international articles published between 2021 and 2025, the review highlights various contributions of school-based physical activity, including structured physical education lessons, the sport education model, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), and physical literacy programs. The analysis reveals that physical education offers significant benefits, such as reducing stress, anxiety, and depression, while improving self-esteem, social interaction, and overall well-being. Furthermore, effective program designs such as 15- to 45-minute sessions held at least three times per week consistently yield positive outcomes. Innovations in curriculum and the integration of physical literacy also enhance students' resilience and support the development of long-term healthy lifestyle habits. Nevertheless, challenges such as variation in intervention design, limited school resources, and unequal implementation remain obstacles. This review affirms that physical education plays a strategic role as both a preventive and promotive intervention in modern education and has the potential to serve as a foundational pillar for students’ lifelong physical and mental health

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the impact of social media use among adolescents, focusing on communication, education, self-expression, creativity, and social networking. A descriptive quantitative survey was conducted using a Google Forms questionnaire distributed to 21 adolescent respondents. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics through frequency and percentage distributions. The results showed that 18 respondents (85.7%) used social media very frequently, while 3 respondents (14.3%) used it frequently. No respondents reported using social media rarely or never, indicating that social media has become an integral part of adolescents' daily lives. The findings suggest that social media positively supports communication, learning, creativity, and self-expression through platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. However, excessive use may also increase the risk of social media dependency, cyberbullying, and social anxiety. Therefore, promoting digital literacy and responsible social media use is important to maximize its benefits while reducing potential risks.

Abstract

Flexibility is an essential component of physical fitness that plays a crucial role in supporting performance and preventing injuries in martial arts athletes. This study aimed to determine the flexibility profile of martial arts athletes at the Student Training and Education Center (PPLM) Jakarta. This research employed a quantitative descriptive method with a survey approach. The subjects consisted of 20 martial arts athletes from taekwondo, pencak silat, and karate. The instruments used were the Sit and Reach Test to measure lower body flexibility and the Shoulder Flexibility Test (Back Scratch Test) to assess right and left shoulder flexibility. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that the average lower body flexibility was 23.4 cm, categorized as moderate. Meanwhile, upper body flexibility showed average values of 3.1 cm for the right shoulder and 2.8 cm for the left shoulder, both categorized as high. In conclusion, the flexibility profile of PPLM Jakarta martial arts athletes is generally good, with upper body flexibility being more dominant than lower body flexibility. These findings indicate the need for a more balanced flexibility training program to optimize performance and reduce injury risk.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between cardiorespiratory endurance (VO₂max) and Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) learning outcomes among tenth-grade students of SMKN 3 Singaraja in the 2025/2026 academic year. This study employed a quantitative correlational design involving 74 students from the Visual Communication Design (DKV) program. Cardiorespiratory endurance was estimated using a 2.4 km running test, while PJOK learning outcomes were obtained from students’ final semester grades. Data were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation after meeting the normality assumption. The results revealed a significant positive relationship between VO₂max and PJOK learning outcomes (r = 0.242, p < 0.05), indicating a low correlation. The coefficient of determination showed that VO₂max contributed 5.86% to the variation in PJOK learning outcomes. It can be concluded that better cardiorespiratory endurance tends to be associated with better PJOK learning outcomes, although its contribution is relatively small.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the observation that most students are still unable to complete tasks quickly. This study employs a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design. The study population consisted of 30 students participating in the 60-meter sprint track and field extracurricular program at MI Miftahunnajah Pakikiran. The students participating in the track and field program were from grades III, IV, and V. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling, resulting in a sample of 10 students. The results of this study indicate that the circuit training method has an effect on the 60-meter sprint performance of students in the track and field extracurricular program at MI Miftahunnajah Pakikiran. This can be demonstrated through a T-test hypothesis test. Since the significance value is 0.000 < 0.05, H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. The mean score on the pretest was 6.486, while on the posttest it was 5.656 (an increase of 0.829), resulting in a 1.658% increase. Based on the conclusions reached, the most appropriate recommendation is: (1) The need for a fundamental and comprehensive exploration of sprint training methods so that the exercises can be properly applied and tailored to the athletes’ needs: (2) The need for new innovations in the form of resources that can motivate students in the track and field training program at MI Miftahunnajah Pakikiran.
