Abstract

Deep learning-based learning is an approach that emphasizes in-depth understanding, interrelation between concepts, and critical and reflective thinking skills in the learning process. This approach is in line with the spirit of an independent curriculum that encourages meaningful and student-centered learning. The presence of learning tools that are systematically designed and based on deep learning approaches in the learning process can increase student engagement and understanding in depth. The use of appropriate learning tools not only helps teachers in delivering material effectively, but also encourages students to think critically, reflectively, and actively engage in the learning process. This Workshop is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the concept of deep learning-based learning, which is a learning model that not only focuses on basic knowledge aspects, but also encourages learners to analyze, evaluate, create, and reflect on contextual learning. The method used in this community service project was implemented in Pekanbaru City, involving 50 history teachers who are members of the History MGMP. The community service activity was divided into three phases: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The materials presented include: concepts and basic principles of Deep Learning in basic education, strategies to design learning outcomes that encourage deep thinking, the preparation of teaching modules that integrate the values of Pancasila student profiles, and the practice of preparing lesson plans and formative assessments based on deep learning.

Abstract

Writing scientific articles is a fundamental skill that needs to be practiced from the beginning of college. First-semester students generally do not have direct experience in writing scientific articles. This community service activity aims to provide training in scientific article writing to first-semester students of the Physics Education Study Program through a gradual approach and continuous mentoring. The implementation method is carried out in four stages, namely preparation with the completion of an initial perception questionnaire, implementation of training with structured mentoring for five weeks, completion of articles with the completion of a final perception questionnaire, and descriptive data analysis. The training material covers the structure of scientific articles using the IMRAD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion) with a writing strategy that starts from the methods, results, discussion, conclusion, introduction, and abstract sections. The results of the initial perception survey showed that students already had conceptual knowledge about scientific articles but lacked direct experience. The final perception survey, completed after the training, showed a shift in students' orientation from passive knowledge to active experience. This was marked by an increase in procedural understanding, confidence, and motivation to write scientific articles. This activity successfully bridged first-semester students to enter the academic culture in a more conscious and reflective manner through the experience of writing a complete article.

Abstract

This activity was initiated based on the condition that although the village possesses religious potential through the presence of a Qur’anic Learning Center (TPQ), students still experience various obstacles in memorization, such as lack of fluency in recitation, incorrect sequence of verses, and inconsistency in conducting muraja’ah (revision). Based on these needs, the program was designed to improve the quality of memorization by collaboratively involving various elements of the community, including TPQ teachers, parents, and community leaders. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR). The main objective of the program was to enhance the quality of students’ memorization through a series of structured learning and evaluation activities. The PAR method was employed because it encourages the active involvement of all stakeholders, ensuring that each stage of the program was jointly planned and implemented in a participatory manner. The program was carried out over five weeks, consisting of the stages of mapping students’ memorization abilities, providing regular muraja’ah assistance after Maghrib prayer, and conducting evaluations through the Musabaqah Hifzhil Qur’an (MHQ) competition using verse-connection and selected surah recitation methods. The results of the program showed a significant improvement in students’ fluency of memorization, accuracy in verse sequence, and self-confidence in presenting their memorization. Beyond academic outcomes, the program also had a positive impact in strengthening parental involvement in the learning process and fostering a stronger Qur’anic culture within the community. Overall, this community service activity confirms the effectiveness of a participatory approach in improving the quality of Qur’anic learning and in building a sustainable religious education ecosystem..

Abstract

: This research is driven by the low poetry writing skills among students at SMP N 17 Tanjung Jabung Timur. The primary challenges identified include difficulties in generating ideas and utilizing meaningful diction. The objective of this study is to describe the improvement in students' poetry writing abilities through the application of a semiotic approach based on local wisdom. The implementation methods consisted of preparation, training, content production practice, as well as monitoring and evaluation. The research subjects involved 7th and 8th-grade students of SMP N 17 Tanjung Jabung Timur. Data collection techniques included poetry writing tests, classroom activity observations, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using both descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The results indicate a significant increase in the average scores of students' poetry writing abilities. Qualitatively, students were able to transform local cultural signs—such as coastal community traditions and the mangrove ecosystem—into profound poetic metaphors through the analysis of icons, indices, and symbols. The study concludes that a semiotic approach based on local wisdom is effective in improving the quality of students' poetry while simultaneously strengthening local cultural literacy.

Abstract

Understanding scientific articles is a fundamental competency that students must master from the beginning of their studies, but first-semester Physics Education students generally do not have an adequate understanding of the structure, conventions, and types of scientific texts. This gap has the potential to hinder their ability to access, analyze, and produce scientific knowledge, which is a primary demand in higher education. This community service activity aims to explore students' initial understanding of scientific articles and improve it through genre-based academic writing training conducted offline. The activity was carried out in three stages: the preparation stage which includes a needs analysis; the implementation stage which includes an introduction to scientific articles, IMRaD structure, abstract writing, APA 7 citation conventions, writing ethics, and integrative exercises; and the evaluation stage through a questionnaire. Participants were 23 first-semester Physics Education Study Program students, Class of 2025. Data were collected using an initial perception questionnaire and a final perception questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and a normalized N-Gain test. The results showed an increase in the average score per item from 3.90 to 4.38, with an N-Gain of 0.44, which is considered moderate. After the training, all participants responded positively (100%). This activity proved effective in building students' conceptual understanding, self-confidence, and academic motivation for writing scientific articles.

Abstract

The existence of Nusantara's local traditions faces significant challenges due to the massive flow of information in the 21st-century digitalization era, which risks eroding local wisdom along with its philosophical, historical, and sociological values. In response to this shift, higher education institutions are demanded to transform into cultural preservation agents as well as driving forces for community empowerment. This community service article presents and analyzes a women's empowerment model involving members of the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of the Faculty of Science and Technology, State Islamic University (UIN) Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, through vocational training in making batik with distinctive local motifs at Rumah Batik Siti Hajir, Seberang Kota Jambi. Utilizing a qualitative approach and the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) framework, this study integrates the epistemological values of Jambi Batik with the 5P social engineering approach (Enabling, Empowering, Protecting, Supporting, and Maintaining). The results describe that the application of andragogy principles, the utilization of ethnomathematics values, and Halal Ecoprint innovation are capable of generating a comprehensive empowerment impact. The batik training has transformed from a mere motor activity into a sharia creative economy incubator that fosters household financial independence. Simultaneously, this initiative strengthens the community's sociocultural resilience against the impacts of urban alienation, positions women as agents of cultural inheritance, and forms an integrated ecosystem in alignment with the implementation of the Tridharma (Three Pillars) of higher education.
