Abstract

This study comprehensively examines the role of green finance as a catalyst for sustainable investment in emerging markets, focusing specifically on Indonesia. Employing a quantitative research design integrating panel data regression, propensity score matching, and event study methodologies, this research analyzes the relationship between green finance instruments including green bonds, green loans, and ESG integration and sustainable investment outcomes. The empirical findings demonstrate that access to green finance significantly increases sustainable investment volumes by approximately 15 20%, while ESG integration positively affects corporate financial performance with a one standard deviation increase in ESG scores associated with 0.8 1.2 percentage points ROA improvement. Results validate five key hypotheses linking green finance availability, ESG integration, policy frameworks, sustainable banking practices, and institutional investor behavior to sustainable investment outcomes. The study reveals that policy support through Indonesia's Sustainable Finance Roadmap significantly enhances green bond issuance and lending volumes, while sustainable banking practices enable financial institutions to allocate 12 18% of loan portfolios to green lending. Market responses to green bond issuances present mixed results, indicating investors are still learning about green finance instrument valuation. The research provides substantial practical implications for policymakers, financial institutions, corporations, and investors, emphasizing the importance of comprehensive policy frameworks, ESG integration, and credible disclosure mechanisms in advancing sustainable finance in emerging market contexts.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of manufacturing companies' ability to manage working capital and liquidity to increase profitability amidst increasingly fierce industrial competition, as well as the role of leverage as a funding mechanism that can strengthen or weaken financial performance. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of working capital turnover and liquidity on profitability, with leverage as an intervening variable, in manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2021–2023 period. This study uses a quantitative approach with secondary data analysis methods obtained from the companies' annual financial reports. The research sample was determined using a purposive sampling technique based on certain criteria. Data were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method to test the direct and indirect effects between variables. The results show that profitability has a positive effect on company financial performance, while liquidity tends to have a negative effect on profitability. Working capital turnover plays a crucial role in supporting company operational efficiency and contributing to increased profits. These findings indicate that optimal working capital and liquidity management are essential for companies to improve their financial performance sustainably. This research is expected to be a consideration for company management and investors in making financial decisions. The conclusion of this study shows that effective working capital and liquidity management, accompanied by an optimal leverage structure, can increase the profitability of manufacturing companies in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and compare the risk and return characteristics of three investment instruments representing different asset classes, namely Bitcoin as a cryptocurrency asset, the S&P 500 index as a representation of the conventional stock market, and Invesco QQQ as an exchange-traded fund (ETF)-based mutual fund. The study uses a descriptive quantitative approach by utilizing secondary data in the form of monthly closing prices during the period from January 2020 to December 2024. The analysis is conducted through the calculation of average monthly returns, risk measured using standard deviation, and the coefficient of variation to assess risk efficiency relative to returns. The research results show that Bitcoin has the highest average monthly return of 6.21% along with the highest level of volatility, reflecting the characteristics of a high-risk investment. The S&P 500 index shows the lowest average return of 1.08% with the highest coefficient of variation, indicating relatively low risk efficiency. Meanwhile, the Invesco QQQ ETF shows a balance between risk and return with a better level of efficiency compared to the S&P 500. These findings confirm that the relationship between risk and return differs significantly across investment instruments, so investment decisions need to be adjusted according to the investor's risk profile and financial goals.

Abstract

This research aims to explain the reasons behind Myanmar's decision to sign the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor (CMEC) project with China. The problems raised in this study are related to internal and external dynamics that affect Myanmar's foreign policy stance towards the strategic infrastructure project. This study uses a qualitative approach with literature study methods and explanatory analysis. The adaptive model theory in foreign policy developed by James N. Rosenau is used to analyze Myanmar's response to changes in the domestic and international environment. The results show that Myanmar is under pressure from external factors, such as the global power structure, regional alliances, geopolitical situation, as well as internal factors, such as the need for economic development and increased domestic political accountability. Myanmar shows an acquiescent adaptation pattern, which is a form of foreign policy adjustment that shows a tendency to approve the initiative of the dominant partner country, in this case China. The conclusions of this study show that Myanmar's decision to join the CMEC project is the result of adaptation to a combination of external pressures and internal needs, which makes China a key strategic partner in its national development framework.

Abstract

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education has accelerated globally, yet understanding of adoption factors remains fragmented, particularly in geographically isolated regions. This study extends the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) by incorporating facilitating conditions, AI anxiety, and academic performance outcomes to analyze AI adoption patterns across multiple institutions in Bangka Belitung Islands, Indonesia. A cross-sectional quantitative design was employed with 523 students from five higher education institutions. Data were analyzed using SEM-PLS through SmartPLS 4.0, revealing that perceived ease of use demonstrated the strongest influence on actual AI system use (β=0.394, p<0.001), followed by perceived usefulness (β=0.327, p<0.001) and facilitating conditions (β=0.218, p<0.01). AI anxiety showed a significant negative effect on actual system use (β=-0.156, p<0.05), while actual system use strongly predicted academic performance (β=0.782, p<0.001). The extended model explained 68.4% variance in actual AI system use and 61.2% variance in academic performance. Multigroup analysis revealed significant differences between public and private institutions (p<0.05), with private institutions showing stronger technology acceptance patterns. These findings suggest that successful AI implementation requires holistic strategies addressing user experience design, institutional support infrastructure, and anxiety reduction programs tailored to institutional contexts in archipelagic regions.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of financial factors on firm value in companies operating within the food and beverage subsector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Firm value reflects market perceptions of a company’s performance and long term prospects, making it a critical indicator for investors and stakeholders. Financial factors analyzed in this study include capital structure, profitability, liquidity, and firm size, which are commonly used to assess corporate financial health. The research employs a quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from published annual reports and financial statements. Empirical analysis is conducted to evaluate both the direction and significance of the relationships between financial factors and firm value. The findings indicate that profitability has a positive and significant influence on firm value, suggesting that companies with stronger profit generating capabilities are more highly valued by the market. In contrast, capital structure, liquidity, and firm size do not show a significant effect on firm value. These results imply that investors in the food and beverage subsector place greater emphasis on profitability than on other financial indicators when forming valuation judgments.

Abstract

Soil degradation remains a critical challenge in tropical agricultural areas due to intensive land use, unsustainable farming practices, deforestation, and climate variability, which collectively threaten agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability. This study aims to analyze sustainable land management (SLM) strategies in controlling soil degradation in tropical agricultural areas. The research employs a descriptive-analytical approach based on secondary data obtained from scientific publications, government reports, and international databases, complemented by a comparative analysis of various land management practices applied in tropical regions. The analysis focuses on key SLM strategies, including soil conservation techniques, agroforestry systems, integrated nutrient management, land-use planning, and community-based land management. The results indicate that the implementation of sustainable land management practices significantly contributes to reducing soil erosion, improving soil fertility, and enhancing land productivity while maintaining ecological balance. Agroforestry and conservation agriculture are identified as the most effective strategies due to their ability to integrate economic, environmental, and social benefits. However, the effectiveness of these strategies is strongly influenced by institutional support, farmer awareness, policy consistency, and local socio-economic conditions. This study highlights the importance of integrated and adaptive land management policies to mitigate soil degradation and promote long-term agricultural sustainability in tropical regions. The findings are expected to provide valuable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers in developing effective land management frameworks to support sustainable agricultural development.
