Abstract

The film Tuhan Ijinkan Aku Berdosa is a religious drama film directed by Hanung Bramantyo. This film tells the story of a student named Nidah Kirani, or Kiran, who is depicted as an intelligent and devout woman who wants to dedicate her life to the path of God. However, Kiran is trapped in a strict religious group, until finally Kiran sues God for the various events she experiences. The purpose of this study is to determine the Moral Message in the Film Tuhan Ijinkan Aku Berdosa by Hanung Bramantyo (Charles Sanders Peirce's Perspective). The method used is library research with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation of film scenes relevant to the moral message, and supported by secondary sources such as books, journals, and articles. Data analysis was carried out using Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic approach using icons, indexes, and symbols. The results of the study show that this film contains ten moral messages, both explicit and implicit. These messages include dhikr (remembrance of God), seeking forgiveness (istighfar), and awareness of faith, regret for sins, sharing, praying for the deceased, husnuzon (having good thoughts) toward Allah, asking for forgiveness, empathy, critical thinking, and advice. The messages contained in this film are inseparable from the concept of amar ma'ruf nahi munkar (enjoining good and forbidding evil). Thus, it can be concluded that this film serves not only as a medium of entertainment but also as a means of conveying moral and spiritual values ​​relevant to society.

Abstract

This study examines the persuasive communication of caregivers in conducting moral development of adolescents at the Aisyiyah Orphanage in Pariaman City. The main problems in this study are: how is the persuasive communication process of caregivers in conducting moral development of adolescents at the Aisyiyah Orphanage in Pariaman City, what are the supporting and inhibiting factors of persuasive communication of caregivers in conducting moral development of adolescents at the Aisyiyah Orphanage in Pariaman City. The type of research used is a qualitative descriptive approach where this type of research attempts to collect facts through observation, interviews, and documentation. The researcher conducted observations at the Aisyiyah Orphanage in Pariaman City, in addition, the researcher also conducted in-depth interviews where the researcher conducted interviews with key informants and supporters, including the orphanage caregivers, orphanage children, and orphanage alumni. Based on the results of the study, the persuasive communication process in conducting moral development of adolescents at the orphanage uses appropriate language, clear goal setting, and overcoming rejection. Supporting factors include evidence and data, expertise, testimonials, stories or anecdotes, reasons and logic, consistency, social effects and benefits. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include dogmatism, stereotypes, and environmental influences. Using appropriate language in everyday life is a crucial element in conveying the goals of persuasive communication.

Abstract

The growing phenomenon of social activities among volunteers highlights the crucial role of communication in fostering social concern within society. In practice, communication among volunteers serves not merely as a means of information dissemination, but also as a medium for coordination, interaction, and strengthening relationships within the group. Effective communication cultivates solid cooperation among members and underpins the success of sustainable social initiatives. This study aims to investigate the communication patterns among volunteers and the supporting factors in building social concern within the Satu Amal Indonesia community in Palembang City. A descriptive qualitative method was employed in this research. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The theoretical framework utilizes group communication theory, which emphasizes the significance of interaction, group dynamics, and the role of communication in forging collaboration and achieving shared objectives within an effectively organized social group. The findings reveal that the implemented communication patterns encompass both vertical and horizontal communication, operating effectively within the volunteer group. This communication is bolstered by factors such as solidarity, shared goals, and the members' communication proficiencies. Ultimately, these communication patterns successfully enhance volunteer participation and instill the value of social concern in the surrounding community..

Abstract

Communication style is a way for individuals to communicate, interact, and behave with the aim of providing understanding to others, both verbally and non-verbally, conveyed by a communicator (sender) to a communicant (receiver) with the same purpose under certain conditions. The communication style of Instagram celebrity Cherry Aprilina in promoting products is carried out through agreements between the celebrity and business owners with the purpose of attracting customers or potential buyers by utilizing the services of a social media influencer. The main focus of this study is to answer the question: How is Cherry Aprilina’s communication style in product endorsement on Instagram social media. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method. The data collection techniques include observation of Cherry Aprilina’s Instagram social media account and data analysis techniques in the form of words or statements, both written and spoken, that were systematically arranged and previously collected. Based on the findings observed from Cherry Aprilina’s Instagram account, there is evidence of interpersonal communication carried out by Cherry Aprilina in interacting with her followers on Instagram by applying Robert Norton’s communication style theory and Steward L. Tubbs & Sylvia’s communication style theory in product endorsement on social media. The communication style aspects most frequently used by Cherry Aprilina in promoting products are friendly, relaxed, animated expressive, attentive, and open. Meanwhile, the communication style categories proposed by Steward L. Tubbs & Sylvia that are reflected in her endorsements include The Controlling Style, The Equalitarian Style, and The Structuring Style

Abstract

The Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) is one of the government policies aimed at fulfilling the nutritional needs of school children. However, in its implementation, cases of mass food poisoning emerged and raised criticism regarding the state’s responsibility in ensuring food safety. This study aims to analyze how the text dimension in ProjectMultatuli.org news constructs discourse regarding the food poisoning cases in the Free Nutritious Meal Program using Teun A. Van Dijk’s Critical Discourse Analysis approach. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with the object of study being the news article entitled “Keracunan Nasional MBG: Anak-Anak Membayar Mahal Kelalaian Negara” published in September 2025. The analysis focuses on the text dimension which includes macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure. The results show that ProjectMultatuli.org constructs a critical discourse by positioning the state as the responsible party for the mass poisoning incident through the emphasis on the theme of state negligence, systematic news scheme arrangement, and the use of semantic, syntactic, stylistic, and rhetorical elements that strengthen the position of victims as the disadvantaged party. The novelty of this study lies in its focus on the text dimension analysis of MBG food poisoning coverage, which is still rarely discussed in communication studies, particularly in public service journalism media such as Project Multatuli.

Abstract

. This study examines the narrative structure and storytelling techniques in the Shopee Big Ramadan Sale 2023 advertisement on YouTube. Using a qualitative approach with descriptive-interpretive analysis, the research explores how storytelling influences consumer perception and emotional engagement. Data were collected through documentation and visual text observation, encompassing narrative elements, dialogue, character, gestures, color, background music, and on-screen text. Data analysis followed the model proposed by Miles & Huberman (1992), comprising three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that storytelling in the Shopee advertisement was constructed through a simple yet culturally relevant narrative, integrating Ramadan values such as solidarity, care, and togetherness. The presence of public figures Komeng and Wika Salim strengthened emotional bonds between the audience and the brand. Visual and audio elements, including warm colors, religious-nuanced music, and Ramadan-themed visuals deepened the emotional meaning conveyed. The use of YouTube as a distribution platform enhanced the effectiveness of storytelling through dynamic audio-visual content and interactive features. Overall, this study confirms that storytelling is a key strategy in digital marketing communication, capable of increasing brand recall, shaping positive brand perception, and influencing consumer purchase intention.

Abstract

The development of information technology drives digital transformation in government systems, including the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in managing bureaucratic data security. The utilization of technology is expected to improve work efficiency, transparency, as well as the quality of public services, but it also raises various perceptions regarding the benefits and risks of its use. This study aims to analyze students' perceptions of the level of AI-based automation in maintaining data security in bureaucratic systems. The study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method through the distribution of questionnaires to students selected using random sampling techniques. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics to describe respondents' perception trends regarding the implementation of AI. The results of the study show that the majority of students have a positive perception of the use of AI in bureaucracy. AI is considered capable of enhancing data security, accelerating threat detection, reducing human errors, and supporting transparency in information management. In addition, respondents believe that future bureaucracy will increasingly rely on AI technology. Nevertheless, students still show a critical attitude concerning potential risks, such as data leaks, information misuse, and the need for clearer regulations. The findings indicate that the acceptance of AI technology in the bureaucratic sector is quite high; however, its implementation requires strengthening regulations, improving digital literacy, and continuous system monitoring so that the use of AI can be carried out effectively, safely, and sustainably in supporting digital transformation.

Abstract

Tax justice is a fundamental principle in modern fiscal systems, closely related to legal frameworks and social ethics. This study examines tax justice from both legal and socio-ethical perspectives, emphasizing its role in ensuring equitable distribution of fiscal burdens and promoting public trust in government institutions. The objective of this research is to analyze how tax policies reflect principles of fairness and how ethical considerations influence compliance and enforcement. The study employs a qualitative normative approach by reviewing legal regulations, academic literature, and comparative tax practices. The findings indicate that tax justice is not solely determined by statutory provisions but also by the perception of fairness among taxpayers. Inequities in tax implementation, such as unequal enforcement and regressive structures, can undermine compliance and social cohesion. Furthermore, ethical dimensions such as transparency, accountability, and solidarity play a crucial role in strengthening voluntary compliance. The study concludes that achieving tax justice requires an integrated approach combining robust legal frameworks with ethical governance practices.

Abstract

This study examines the rhetorical strategies of national interest representation employed by Indonesia in its diplomatic speeches at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) from 2019 to 2024. Diplomatic speeches at global forums are not merely policy-position statements. They constitute discursive practices that construct identity, legitimacy, and power hierarchies among international actors. This study applies Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) framework covering three analytical dimensions: text, discursive practice, and social practice. Five official speeches delivered by President Joko Widodo (2019-2023) and President Prabowo Subianto (2024) at the UNGA were analyzed. The findings reveal three dominant and recurring rhetorical strategies. First, positioning Indonesia as a responsible middle power through metaphors of peace and multilateralism. Second, constructing a collective Global South identity to legitimize domestic economic interests. Third, employing international morality rhetoric to frame pragmatic foreign policy interests. This study argues that Indonesia's diplomatic speeches at the UN function not only as inter-state communication but also as arenas for image construction and national interest negotiation through language.

Abstract

This study examines the representation of power embedded in the visual framing of natural disaster news on Indonesian television. Natural disasters, as events frequently exploited visually, serve as arenas in which power is produced and represented through seemingly neutral visual signs. Drawing on Roland Barthes' semiotic framework encompassing denotation, connotation, and myth, this study analyzes 24 news clips from two national television stations, Metro TV and Trans 7, covering the 2023 Jakarta floods and the 2022 Cianjur earthquake. The findings reveal that television news coverage consistently positions authority figures such as government officials, disaster management agency heads, and military personnel in visually dominant positions. This visual pattern constructs a myth that the state is the principal actor capable of and authorized to manage disaster situations. The study argues that the visual framing of disaster news does not merely document events but actively constructs power hierarchies while marginalizing victims as passive subjects.
