Abstract

Before the 2013 Curriculum was set by the government, Indonesian only played a role as a subject and a vehicle for communication in schools. This role appears to be increasing along with the shift in the Indonesian language learning paradigm through text-based learning. This research aims to explore the role of Indonesians in the 2013 Curriculum and the implications of its methodology for learning. The method used is descriptive qualitative using library documents. The research data is in the form of Indonesian language teaching materials for junior high schools sourced from books issued by the government. The research results show that the function of the Indonesian language is confirmed by its existence as a catalyst and vehicle for science, technology, and art (science and technology). The increase in the function of the Indonesian language is also in line with the application of text-based learning methods through four learning stages, namely building context, modeling text, building text together, and building text independently. In this context, Indonesian is at the forefront of absorbing science and technology; conveying information through ideas and opinions; and binding the diversity of languages, ethnicities, and religions in the form of complete diversity.

Abstract

Taiwan began collaborating with Indonesia in 1970. This research aims to analyze opportunities for cooperation between Indonesia and Taiwan using descriptive analysis, namely referring to the identification results of literature studies, scientific studies, theoretical understanding, and information obtained from government websites. During the identification period of the last 10 years (2007-2017), Indonesia's total exports to trading partner countries, namely Taiwan, tended to increase every year, and vice versa, Taiwan's total exports to Indonesia also relatively increased. Indonesia needs to take strategic and proactive policies through efforts to increase the added value and competitiveness of Indonesia's leading sectors and strengthen research cooperation to maximize the absorption of technology transfer from Taiwan.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the phenomenon of low learning outcomes for the History of Islamic Culture in class VII-3 MTsN 3 South Aceh. One of the contributing factors is that teachers still predominantly use the lecture method, so students become bored while learning. To improve student learning achievement, the STAD learning model can be used, among other things. This research uses two cycles of Class Action Research. The research was carried out in semester 2 of the 2019/2020 academic year. The subjects of this research were 23 students in class VII-3 MTsN 3 South Aceh, taken as a total sampling in the research. The data collection techniques used are observation, questionnaires and tests. Meanwhile, data collection instruments use observation sheets, questionnaires and test questions. Data analysis techniques are carried out collaboratively, namely collecting quantitative and qualitative data. The results of the research showed that there was an increase in teacher activity, 79% in the active category, 82.27% in student activity in the very active category, in student learning completion results there was also an increase reaching 82.60% with an average score of 77.60% and student responses of 93.97% in the very good category. This proves that using the STAD learning model in the History of Islamic Culture lesson can improve the learning outcomes of class VII3 MTsN 3 South Aceh students. This research is recommended to fellow teachers so that they can master and try to apply the STAD learning model, so as to create a lively, varied learning atmosphere and is proven to be effective in improving learning outcomes.

Abstract

Existence has been a central issue among philosophers. This could be because of the unverifiable features which becloud existence. However, martin Heidegger in his philosophical speculations thinks that we should begin with man, since man is the only being that asks question about his own existence or being. He technically called man Dasein. Hence, Dasein is a being in whose very being, being itself is in question. In order to understudy man and how he lives his life, he proposes to analyze man’s existential structures. In his analysis, he discovers that man is the only being in the world that has relation to himself and as well as other beings. Man is not finished product but a possibility to become what he is not yet. Man transcends the present and lives towards the future. This however denotes that man is a free being who projects himself and chooses his own possibility and thereby decides his own mode of life, hence, authentic life. For him authentic life is a life lived in a way one has freely chosen to live. It is a life beyond what is called everydayness and following the crowd. He went further to aver that there are limitations which characterize human existence and they are: falleness, facticity, thrownness, being-with-others, anxiety and so on. In spite of these features, he still averred that man can exist authentically. Hence, this piece adopts hermeneutical and appraisal methods, to argue that authentic existence is realizable amidst these features and structures as aforementioned.

Abstract

In a democratic system, citizens of a given country vote to elect their representatives who will form a government. Fair and equal treatment is required to be provided for every citizen by the government such as fundamental rights, popular and free participation in governance and so on. However it is quite unfortunate that men, once vested with power, abuses it there by causing despair among citizens, just as it is being portrayed in most African countries. Therefore it is necessary that power becomes a check to power. Having seen the need for such check and balances in power, Baron De Montesquieu in his treatise ‘Spirit of Laws’ espoused the separation of powers among the three arms of government in a democratic setting to avoid the abuse of powers.
