Aim Jurnal Penelitian is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research on various aspects of religiosity, Islam, and culture in Indonesia. As a predominantly Muslim country, Indonesia is home to a diverse range of local cultures. Islam, which originated outside of Indonesia, brought with it not only religious doctrines but also cultural influences. The interaction between Islam— as the majority religion— and the unique cultural identity of Indonesia is a central theme of the journal. The journal focuses on exploring the dynamics between Islam and Indonesian identity, examining how the two intersect and influence each other. Scope The dynamics between Islam and Indonesian identity enable a diverse range of scientific studies. Therefore, the scope of Jurnal Penelitian includes issues related to: - The relationship between Islam and local culture in Indonesia, - Islamic movements vis-a-vis the state in Indonesia, - Mainstreaming religious moderation in Indonesia, - Islamic education and appreciation of local culture in Indonesia.

Abstract

Adolescent delinquency in Indonesia increasingly appears in concrete forms such as inter-student violence, substance abuse, risky sexual behavior, and peer-group conflicts, reflecting identity confusion, emotional instability, and weakened social attachment. In Pekalongan, these conditions are intensified by digital overexposure, academic competition, economic uncertainty, and tensions between traditional values and modern youth culture. This study aims to explore tahlilan as a reflective–cultural strategy to support adolescent psychosocial well-being. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with adolescents, cultural figures, and community members, supported by literature and document analysis. Data were analyzed thematically through an iterative process of open coding, categorization, and theme construction to interpret patterns of emotional regulation, identity negotiation, and religious coping. Data validity was ensured through source and method triangulation. The findings indicate that tahlilan can be optimized through four interrelated components: guided self-reflection, prayer and gratitude journaling, safe community spaces, and digital engagement via the hashtag #TahlilanUntukJiwa. These components function as mechanisms for emotional containment, identity consolidation, psychological resilience, and religious character formation through collective spiritual experiences. The study concludes that revitalizing culturally embedded spiritual practices, when integrated with reflective and digital strategies, can serve as a preventive and promotive approach to adolescent mental health challenges.

Abstract

This study examines Ngajiblox, a virtual Qur’anic study initiative organized by Mario (Majelis Roblox Indonesia) on the Roblox platform, to analyze how digital environments produce religious simulacra and hyperreal experiences. As religious practices increasingly move online, the research explores how Islamic learning, ethical conduct, and communal interaction are reconfigured in virtual space. A descriptive qualitative method with a netnographic approach was employed. Data were gathered through online observation, in-depth interviews, and content analysis, and interpreted using Jean Baudrillard’s theory of simulacra and simulation. The findings reveal that the virtual mosque functions as a socio-religious arena where Islamic practices are reconstructed through digital symbols, avatars, spatial design, and virtual artifacts. Rather than simply imitating offline gatherings, the sessions generate an autonomous religious reality in which learning and spirituality are experienced as authentic. Elements such as mosque icons, gender-segregated areas, and live broadcasts from a physical mosque in Klaten strengthen the sense of hyperreal religiosity. Participants engage in study, ethical reflection, and social interaction in ways that parallel offline life, while remaining aware of limitations such as distraction and “instant” spirituality. Islamic subjectivity thus emerges through negotiation between digital simulation and embodied faith.

Abstract

This study is grounded in concerns over the transformation of local cultural values amid modernization, which may weaken their role in shaping social behavior. It examines the philosophical meaning and socio-discursive role of maja labo dahu within the Bima community of West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The discussion focuses on the integration of Islam and local culture, the construction of moral discourse, and the role of power relations in sustaining social norms. This study aims to analyze (1) the philosophical values embodied in maja labo dahu, (2) its function as a dominant moral discourse from a Foucauldian perspective, and (3) the role of power relations in its institutionalization within social institutions. This research employs a qualitative approach with a critical discourse analysis framework. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using inductive and deductive techniques. Data validity was ensured through triangulation. The findings reveal that maja labo dahu, meaning “shame and fear,” represents a synthesis between Islamic teachings and local cultural values that forms the ethical foundation of Bima society. From a Foucauldian perspective, it functions as a dominant moral discourse reproduced through educational, religious, and governmental institutions. The study concludes that maja labo dahu is a dynamic discursive practice shaping moral subjectivity, collective identity, and social order, while reflecting the operation of power–knowledge in contemporary society.

Abstract

Religious polarization and intolerance among youth continue to rise globally, including in Indonesia, where survey data from institutions such as BNPT and several national studies show increased exposure of university students to exclusive and extreme religious narratives. This condition highlights the strategic urgency of strengthening religious moderation in Islamic higher education, particularly through frameworks rooted in Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah (Aswaja), which emphasize tawassuth, tawazun, tasamuh, and i‘tidal. Despite growing attention to religious moderation, empirical quantitative evidence linking the internalization of Aswaja-based values to students’ religious attitudes remains limited, especially within Indonesian Islamic universities. Addressing this gap, the present study analyzes the influence of Aswaja-based moderate Islamic value internalization on students’ religious attitudes at Universitas Islam Jember. Using a quantitative explanatory design with 155 randomly selected students, data were collected through a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression. The findings show that both the internalization of Aswaja values and students’ religious attitudes are in the high category. Regression analysis indicates a positive and significant effect of Aswaja value internalization on religious attitudes (β = 0.63, p < 0.001), with a determination coefficient of 40%. These results provide empirical evidence that deeper internalization of Aswaja values contributes substantially to more moderate, inclusive, and balanced religious attitudes. The study reinforces the importance of integrating Aswaja-based value education as an effective strategy for promoting religious moderation within Islamic higher education institutions.

Abstract

Education plays a strategic role in improving the quality of human resources, particularly through effective school leadership and organizational culture. However, previous studies tend to examine principal leadership and teacher performance separately, without integrating Islamic values and local cultural contexts. Therefore, this study focuses on analyzing principal leadership strategies and school culture in improving teacher performance within the context of Indonesian education. This study aims to examine how leadership strategies and school culture interact in enhancing teacher performance at SMA Negeri 2 Yogyakarta and SMA Negeri 3 Yogyakarta. The scope of this study includes leadership practices, school culture, and the integration of Islamic and local cultural values. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving principals, teachers, and educational staff. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, supported by triangulation techniques to ensure validity. The findings indicate that democratic and transformational leadership strategies improve teacher discipline, motivation, and innovation as key dimensions of teacher performance. Islamic values such as amanah, discipline, and shura, along with local cultural values like gotong royong and unggah-ungguh, contribute to a positive and productive school environment.

Abstract

In Sufism, there is no specific theme related to ikhtiar; if any, it is very limited and serves as a supplement to the theme of tawakal. So, people can misuse tawakal as a shield for laziness, and even the general public views Sufism as hating worldly life. Meanwhile, there is a hadith of the Prophet Muhammad commanding ikhtiar first before tawakal. This study aims to discuss the concept of ikhtiar seen through the motivation of Nietzsche's philosophical life. The research method employed is qualitative, utilizing library research and syncretic-hermeneutic to analyze Nietzsche’s philosophical concepts in relation to or unite them with the concept of ikhtiar in Sufism through the reinterpretation of texts related to everyday life.  The results are, the concept of ikhtiar through Nietzsche's philosophical approach as a motivation to live life: a. Nietzsche's critique of absolute truth is linked to ikhtiar, namely, there must be a dismantling of understanding so that sustenance depends on someone’s struggle, but the final step must still be balanced with tawakal; b. Nietzsche's will to power is linked to ikhtiar, namely that someone does not know the cause of what sustenance from existence can bring him. Therefore, according to Nietzsche, someone must optimize the power to gather sustenance that is around him, but the final result must still be left to Allah (tawakal).

Abstract

The development of executive functions in early childhood is a crucial foundation for later academic readiness; however, learning practices in early childhood education still tend to be teacher-centered and less contextual. This study examines the implementation of the Center-Based Learning model integrated with the traditional Bima game Mpa’a Ncimi Lombo Tembe within the perspective of Islamic education as an effort to enhance children’s executive functions. The scope of the study focuses on three core components of executive function: inhibitory control, working memory, and cognitive flexibility. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the Center-Based Learning model integrated with the traditional Bima game Mpa’a Ncimi Lombo Tembe in improving early childhood executive functions. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. The participants consisted of 40 children aged 5–6 years, divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected through structured observation and executive function assessment instruments and analyzed using independent sample t-test and paired sample t-test at a significance level of 0.05. The results revealed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in the posttest (t = 6.32; p < 0.05), with a higher gain score in the experimental group (21.70) compared to the control group (10.45). These findings indicate that structured and contextual play-based learning effectively enhances children’s executive functions. Furthermore, the integration of Islamic educational values contributes to holistic character development.

Abstract

This study explores the collaborative learning process between santri and the local community in entrepreneurship empowerment at Al-Amin People's Islamic Boarding School, Sumberpucung, Malang, while analyzing the pesantren's role in facilitating that process. Islamic boarding schools do not function solely as religious-based educational institutions; they can also be regarded as institutions that nurture generations with Islamic character while simultaneously serving as social institutions for community empowerment. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation study, and were analyzed using the interactive model. Credibility of findings was ensured through source triangulation, technique triangulation, and member checking. The findings reveal that the collaborative learning process between santri and the community unfolds in a gradual and staged manner, with the overarching goal of empowering the surrounding community. Realizing this shared learning process requires the active role of the pesantren under the leadership of its caretaker, encompassing three complementary dimensions: first, the Islamic boarding school as facilitator, providing skills training, business facilities, and mentoring; second, as initiator of entrepreneurship empowerment programs responding to low economic development in Sumberpucung; and third, as a driving agent through integrated social and economic activities engaging all elements of the surrounding community. The findings are expected to enrich scholarly discourse on community and santri empowerment within Non-Formal Education, offering an empirically grounded model that highlights the interplay between cultural authority, participatory mobilization, and community autonomy development.
